"Are you sure this is the right place?"

Samus and Captain Falcon stood in front of two colossal sized doors that led them straight into the Mushroom Kingdom.

It wasn't too hard to find it, seeing as the rest of the city wasn't nearly as gold-encrusted as the enormous home of the King.

It wasn't their biggest priority to enter the threshold of the castle, but the Princess herself, Peach, had invited them for a 'lovely' dinner full of enriched foods and good company. And neither of them could pass up free food.

So here they were.

Samus, dressed in a white blouse with a black long skirt and a light white lace cover that only really covered her arms, looked over at her date.

"Douglas, this is obviously the right place. How couldn't it be?" She answered with a tint of annoyance in her voice, "Peach didn't give us much, but 'a large rich looking building' (how she had described it,) is pretty much what we're looking at."

Falcon didn't look at her, instead he kept his gaze on the doors. He had on a black three-piece tuxedo, and honestly, Samus thought, he looked Good.

"Alrighty then, since you've made your point," he said with a bit of sarcasm, "let's head inside, and hope we don't crash some random familys' evening."

Samus rolled her eyes but smirked as he heavily pushed the door open. They were greeted with bright warm light.

They entered into an enormous corridor with extraordinary carvings in the ceiling and gold-encrusted picture frames that hung from the vast walls. A long deep red carpet lie under their feet, leading to the edge of a tall, impressive staircase that, at the landing, split into two different entrances.

The two could only stare and gawk. They had both been to expensive establishments, but never like this.

Suddenly, they heard a squeal echoing from the top of the vast staircase and before they could act, a flutter of pink, yellow, and gold dashed down the stairs, and ran directly for them.

Peach jumped up and somehow managed to grapple them both into a tight embrace.

"OoooH! I'm so glad you two could make it!" She squeezed them tighter, before releasing them to catch their breath.

"And just on time too! Dinner just came out. Here, follow me into the dining hall, where you can meet my father!" She dragged them both by the hands to another over-sized set of doors, which Samus guessed, led to where they would be eating.

As she pushed past the doors, she let their hands drop to their sides.

Samus and Falcon gaped. The room was astonishingly beautiful, with its incredibly detailed carvings, each one individually chiseled into the pure white plaster. Samus spotted a glass door with blood red curtains around it, leading out to a large balcony. It probably has an amazing view of the gardens, Samus thought as they passed by it.

As they walked on, they drew nearer to a far-reaching table, a thin white cloth lining the middle. There was food on it.

Lots of food.

Peach guided them to their seats together.

"Here are your seats, together of course. Since I'm guessing you two don't want to be far from each other!" She winked and walked back to her own chair at the opposite end of the monster sized table.

Samus plopped down in her seat. It was a bit uncomfortable, and based on the face Falcon was making, he felt the same way. She leaned over a bit to get a good view of the King, but instead made eye contact with a very familiar face.

"Oh, hey Link." She greeted the Hylian. He nodded towards her, but then went back to staring into his fine China. Zelda sat next to him looking stunning as usual, but something was wrong. It seemed as if she was trying to avoid making eye contact with the Hylian seated beside her.

They probably had a fight of some kind of the way here, she decided to look the rest of the way down the table, finally finding the King.

He was a large, rounded man with a bushy white beard, and dark, sullen eyes. Yet there was a bit of a spark in them.

There was a bit of an awkward silence before the King decided to break it.

"Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom! I am King Toadstool, and I hope you all enjoy your stay." He beamed, "I believe all of you already know my daughter quite well, but I'm not exactly sure if you all know each other. But please, don't hesitate to start up a conversation! There's no need to be a stranger. And please enjoy the food!"

And so, Zelda and Peach started up a chatter immediately, making very animated hand gestures when they got excited about a subject. A couple toads came out of a small door, and began serving the food that was set out on the table, not even bothering to ask what they did and didn't want.

When Peach and Zelda had finished catching up, Peach turned to Samus.

"So, Sammy! Have any interesting missions lately?" Peach asked in her naturally high-pitched voice.

"Uh, no. Not really. Same old, same old." She responded.

"Hmm, well that's a shame! Maybe sometime you could join us in a match of tennis, or kart racing or something."

"Maybe."

Peach smiled at her, and then went back to chatting with Zelda. Samus looked over only to see Link viciously stab a piece of meat with his knife and take a chomp out of it. Some grease slithered down from his mouth and to his chin where it dripped. The broccoli was next to fall victim.

So that's why Zelda seemed so irritated by him.

Samus began to eat, which Falcon had already helped himself with, especially the champagne. It was good, a little too rich for her taste, but still. Free food.

King Toadstool then leaned forward towards Falcon. "So, I hear you're a famous racer, got any other interesting jobs?"

"How did you know I'm a famous racer?" Falcon asked, a bit wary.

"Oooh, word gets around with the Toads." He chuckled.

Falcon eyed the little Toad servants questionably, but then answered.

"I'm also known for my Bounty Hunting job in some parts," he looked at Samus and continued "I also join Samus for some missions."

"Awwwwh!" Peach spoke up, "it's so cute that you guys work together!"

Samus flushed a bit, especially when Falcon smirked at her.

"Yeah, but only on the harder ones," she jumped in, "I can normally handle them by myself."

The King kindly nodded, thoroughly enjoying the current conversation. Zelda only let out a sigh.

Peach looked curiously towards her and asked, "Zelda, what's wrong? You seem to be unsettled."

"There's nothing wrong." Zelda huffed. Clearly something was.

"Oh, okay. Just tell me if you-" Peach was interrupted by a furious Zelda.

"Oh of course something is wrong, Peach!" Zelda fused. "I wasn't even supposed to come tonight!"

They all looked a bit shocked, and even Link looked up for his beloved food.

"Peach only asked Link to come and bring a partner, and he wanted to bring Mipha!" She seethed, "so now I'm stuck here as second choice!"

Samus heard Falcon give out a quiet gasp, (she had no idea if it was serious or not). Link sat staring at Zelda with his mouth open, as if he was surprised that she had spilled all their personal problems to the King.

"Oh, Zeldy!" Peach cooed, trying to calm the infuriated Princess down, "if you wanted to come so bad, I would've invited you personally!"

Zelda only turned the opposite direction of the carnivorous Hylian, and huffed. Peach was still trying to console her.

Samus couldn't blame Zelda. She too would've been torn up if Falcon had decided to bring a cute fish girl there instead of her. Thankfully, Zelda got over her 'fishy' problems before too long, jabbering with Peach once more.

"So.." the King started off, a bit awkwardly, "I presume you too chose each other as your dates here because you're.."

Falcon nodded, holding out his glass for a Toad servant to refill. "Yep."

"How are your families doing? The weather has been splendidly warm lately, perfect for-cast for a picnic, don't you think?"

Falcon looked over at Samus. He knew that this was the question she hated answering. She then glanced at his face, he gave her a reassuring look that made her relax a bit.

"Well eh... you're certainly right about the weather.. it's a very good racing temperature as well" he replied, sounding unsure. "And uh.. as for our families.."

The king looked over at Samus, and sensed the tension coming from her, but instead of shutting up, he continued.

"Oh... your parents aren't around anymore I suppose?" The King sounded cautious. He was obviously trying to smooth out the conversation, but if anything, it was making it rougher.

"Uh... yes. Unfortunately." Falcon replied with sadness in his voice. Samus felt his hand move to her thigh, as he rubbed his thumb along it, trying to comfort her.

"Oh.. Well, I'm sorry." The King clearly sensed their sorrows now, and decided, thankfully, to change the subject.

Peach removed her attention from Zelda, and saw that things weren't exactly going as well for her Father and her Guests, so she cut in.

"So what's it like to be in a relationship?" Peach asked, elbows resting on the surface of the table, chin resting on her hands.

"The opposite of lonely." Falcon responded.

"Say Peach, what's up with you and that plumber?" Zelda asked, "I thought you two were going out."

Peach shot her dad a slightly annoyed face, and replied with "we're not. Father, however wants me to."

"He's constantly saving you. And I feel it's time that you get into a relationship." He added onto their conversation. "And possibly start a family some day..?"

Peach looked shocked for about a minute, and the gazed off, still resting her head on her hands.

"My kids would look so cute.." she mused. Then looked up. "So would yours." She nodded towards Falcon and Samus, who looked at her, obviously caught off guard.

"Oh, no no no. Not Any time soon. Sorry Peach." Samus had thought about this suggestion before, and came to the conclusion of its not worth the pain and suffering. All you get out of it is some noisy ass kid who only gets in the way.

But at the same time, she always wondered what it would be like to raise a family with Falcon. She knew he had different feelings towards kids, just by the way he treated the youngsters at the Smash mansion. He never really shared his thoughts about 'His' kids though.

To her relief, Falcon agreed with her. He shook his head at Peach, "we're not even married yet. I don't even know if we're That serious yet- And.. having children would make our jobs a lot harder for us." He panicked slightly, and Samus looked at him with concern in her eyes.

What did he mean by 'I don't know if we're serious yet'?

Peach sighed and playfully rolled her eyes as if to say you guys are no fun.

The meal continued for about an hour more. Most of the chatter was coming from Zelda and Peach's end of the table, of course, and there was a good conversation between Falcon and King Toadstool floating around as well. Samus began to get tired, and made it clear by exhaling a large yawn.

While the Toad servants cleared the now filthy dishes, Peach scooted out of her chair, and spread her arms wide.

"I hope you all enjoyed your dinner, feel free to roam around the castle! And don't hesitate to ask for a tour!"

She and Zelda stayed close together and kept up their conversation from before, while Link stayed seated, and gazed around the room, as if he were just now noticing the incredible detail.

Samus slowly crossed the room towards the balcony. She needed some fresh air.

As she gently pushed on the thin glass door, she stepped out onto the sturdy ledge. Even though it was night, the view was beautiful, she had to admit.

A light wind ruffled through her hair and skirt. It was indeed refreshing. She breathed it in, leaning on the rail of the structure. She wondered what it would be like to live a life like Peach's. Pampered, waited on hand and foot, never worried about money or how to earn it. She hated the idea, especially the servant part. She was independent by nature and that wasn't about to change.

She suddenly heard the glass door lightly open, and someone walk up behind her. Without even bothering to look, she knew exactly who it was. Captain Falcon leaned on the rail with her, trying to pin point where she had been staring.

"Did it get too stuffy in there for you too?" She asked him.

"Nah, just sort've overwhelming."

"Yeah, I know what you mean."

Another gust of wind blew by, leaving Samus with goosebumps as chills crept up her legs and arms.

Falcon scooted closer to her. Even though they weren't touching, Samus could feel his warmth.

"Sam, about what happened at dinner. What I said.." he started, "I didn't mean to say that were aren't serious.. I panicked. I'm sorry."

She glanced over at him. He was staring off into the sky like she had been doing earlier on.

"It's okay." She reassured, "I know what you meant."

There was silence. A good silence. One that gave them time to think about what they would say next.

"We would be great parents." Falcon murmured.

Samus leaned her head against his shoulder. "Maybe.."

They sat together for a bit before deciding to go inside. The wind had picked up and was threatening to lift Samus's skirt up to the point of no return.

As they walked hand in hand through the glass entrance, Samus spotted Zelda and Peach still blabbing on about what-not, and Link was still in the same place, looking mighty uncomfortable.

She yawned again, and she heard Falcon chuckle. It was clearly time to leave.

Once Peach had figured out they were heading out, she dashed towards them.

"Awh, leaving already? Well then, I hope you enjoyed the meal and that you come again soon!"

She sprung herself onto them again, this time Samus blinked from tiredness.

"Come on, Peach," she said smiling, "we're going to see each other in a week when Smash starts up again."

Peach realized this, and released them giggling. "Oh, right. Well, I guess I'll see you two then!"

When they finally reached the doors, they waved to Peach who was frantically waving at them as they got farther and farther away.

The whole place looked even better in the darkness. The warm colored lights seemed to light up the structure more then the natural sunlight did.

"I'm glad I don't live like that." Samus grumbled. "Its a living hell and I wasn't even here for the entire day."

Falcon laughed, "same here. It seems so restricting. Even the food tasted limited."

Now it was Samus's turn to laugh.

Despite her lack of interest in the Royal Family and how they lived, she was glad she showed up.

And maybe she would join Peach in a match of Tennis sometime.

I hope you all enjoyed this one-shotjust as much as I did writing it!

Just so you know, I will be making another one of these but with more people and it'll be a lot more humorous. It'll probably also include a couple chapters, depending on how long I work on it.

Reviewsand favorites are greatly appreciated, too!
