It was just a normal Sunday evening, for recently turned 5 year old Dom. He had his favourite babysitter minding him while his mum and dad went out for their weekly date night like they always did on a sunday evening.
Dom was sitting on the living room carpet playing quietly after his bath. He only loved his babysitter because she would let him stay up late and have ice cream for dessert and she was good at hide and seek!
The door opened to ange and fletch coming in. It was earlier than usual. Dom was happy to hear their voice and he got up and ran through to the hallway stopping in his tracks when he saw a baby carrier ..?
Fletch set the carrier on the floor and crouched down next to it.. A small, beautiful baby was in it "come here dom.. come meet your little sister.." he said quietly smiling at Dom.
Little sister? Since when?
Dom slowly moved toward him confused as to where this baby had come from and why it was never mentioned before.. Ange was never pregnantto his knowledge.
Ange crouched down next to the carrier , waiting for Dom to come over. Dom slowly made his way over looking dom at the baby in the carrier
"This is Sam… your baby sister" Ange informed him sweetly bringing him in close to her so he knew it was ok.
"Where she come from?" Dom asked super confused as to the sudden baby.
"Me and daddy adopted her because she needed a family," she said back to him.
"Oh .. like a dog? you can adopt a doggy …" he asked trying to work it out in his head… "yeah just like that .. but we adopted a baby" Ange said smiling.
Dom smiled and sat down on the floor in front of the carrier "hello Sam …. im your big brother " he took to his new title quickly liking it a lot. "Can i hold her mummy pleaseee?!" he asked super excited now.
"Course you can go sit on the sofa i'll bring her too you ," Ange said starting to get sam out the car seat. Dom ran through to the sofa and sat down waiting for Ange.
Ange came through holding Sam and put her on his lap. She was small.. Around 3 months old. Dom held her so protectively falling in love with his real life baby in his arms. No more plastic role play dolls. Best friends in the making ..
Dom sat there for ages watching Sam amazed that he was a big brother.
