- With Kim -
"Where are you going?" a female's voice questioned throughout the room.
"Just going out for a run. Why don't you join instead of being a gloomy, Kim?" a guy asked the girl back over his shoulder. A groan left the girl's throat. Its been a while since she went with the guys on a night run.
"No stupid trick, Ray!" she resorted back at the guy, who held his hands up in defeat.
"Promise,"
Parkour was just one of the things Kimberly loved to do. Running took her mind off of things, and allowed her to be in the present. She lived by herself most of the time, but it happened that Ray and some of her friends crashed over. Its been like that ever since they went away from the orphanage. The place was nice. The kids were nice, but she felt trapped, so she, Ray and a few others ran away from it. Finding a place for yourself as an almost 18 years old teenager was not the easiest job in NYC, but they managed to get by.
Sprinting over an air vent they made their way downtown, a mistake they soon regretted.
"Ray! Now that is a nice surprise! And you brought a lady friend even! Who is she, your girlfriend?" a tall, slender guy grinned from an alley they passed. Something felt off. She felt uneasy. She knew Ray wasn't always being honest with what he was doing around the city at night, but those guys? Why'd they know him? What was going on?
"Whaddya guys want?" the brunette guy made a frown.
"You owe us!" a bulky guy stepped forward. "Pay up!".
"Ray what's-"
"It's nothing, Kim!" his words made her frown. Something wasn't right, but what exactly was happening? Why didn't he want to tell her something? What had he been up to this time? This time it seemed serious. The chill air hit her skin. She only took off in a pair of trainers, a t-shirt and a cardigan over.
"Here's the deal for you asshole; either you pay us, lets say… now? Or we get your pretty girlfriend? How's that?" the slender guy grinned at the girl. Unconsciously, Kim took a step backwards. This whole situation wasn't right. She was scared. Ray wouldn't gamble on her, would he?
"Ya ain't goin' anywhere cutie!" a pair of strong arms embraced her from behind, and held her in a captive grip.
"Let go of me!" she yelled, fighting in the thug's hold to get away. Her heart skipped a beat, and a sudden urge to vomit rushed over her as she felt the guy behind her get even closer to her, nuzzling his nose in her hair. The stench of alcohol was bad for her nostrils.
Ray do something!
"RAY!" she screamed atop of her lungs as she wriggled against the hold. No matter what she did it seemed more like it was turning him on, and she hated it. She hated him. She hated men.
Things got heated between Ray and the two other thugs in front of her. All she could do was watch, and wriggle in the strong hold she was in. The next few seconds happened so fast. The slender guy punch Ray in the face faster than a blink of an eye.
"RAY! HELP! SOMEBODY HE-"
"Shut up princess! Be a good girl and remain quiet!" the thug behind her slapped a hand over her mouth when she called for help. She wished she had stayed home.
- With the Turtles -
It seemed like a boring evening patrol. Passing over the rooftops, nothing out of the ordinary seemed to happen.
"I vote we go back to the lair now and grab ourselves some pizza, dudes!" Michelangelo beamed as they made a stop on a roof.
"Seriously Mikey! You're thinking pizza right now!" Raphael snapped at him.
"You know, for once, I think I agree with Mikey. This evening is so peaceful, we could as well be hanging out in the lair and chill!" Donatello mentally wanted to slap himself for agreeing with his younger brother.
"YAY! Can we go now Leo, huh, can we, please?" Michelangelo batted big puppy eyes at the blue banded turtle. Wit ha heavy sigh, he shook his head.
"You guy, would you focus for a—"
"HELP!" a scream echoed between the building, alerting the turtle brothers. Leaping to the edge of the roof, they gazed over the alley. A gang of thugs were up to something nasty. A girl was held hostage and another guy was punch in the ground.
"Guess this night isn't going to be so boring after all!" Raphael chuckled to himself before diving straight into battle. If there was something he didn't have the patience for, it was waiting for Leo's order or so-called orders. He needed a piece of action. The city had been quiet for more than a week now.
"Raph wait… urhg whatever, lets go!" Leo commanded.
"Hey you! Shithead! Get your filthy hands off that girl!" the red banded turtle's voice boomed in the alley.
- With Kim -
Kimberly felt her body tremble in fear as of what was to come. Her heart pounded so hard in her chest she was sure everyone around her – including the guy who held her back.
"Hey you! Shithead! Get your filthy hands off that girl!" the sound of a complete stranger's voice made her eyes dart up and look for the owner. But her brain didn't seem to obey her. Her vision was foggy.
"Get the fuck outta here you freaks!" the thugs barked back.
"I guess it's the fun way then!" within seconds, there was a lot of noises around her. Something deep inside her wanted to look to see what was happening. It was then she felt something sharp point to her waist that caused her to freeze on the spot.
"One step closer, and the bitch will get a nice tattoo!" she could almost feel his smug grin. Her body trembled.
"Okay, take it easy now. No need to make it more dramatic" another voice spoke.
"Now Mikey!"
She wished she could have seen what happened. She felt something graze over her skin, but her body and mind didn't seem to register it. The knife was yanked out of the thug's hand, and Kimberly saw it as an opportunity to get away. Stepping down hard on the man's foot, she made a run for it. What was happening? Who were those people, who tried to help her? Her feet started to run. At the next building she spotted a fire escape staircase and made a run for it.
"Hey wait up! Miss!" a voice yelled after her, but she was too scared to even look back. A sudden pain surged through her waist. Looking down quickly, she noticed her shirt was getting stained by blood. The adrenaline she had left wasn't enough to get her far. As she reached the top of the building, she braced herself for a jump, but her jump was cut off. Her mind went blank.
"You there? Are you with me? Hello!" a voice called out to her, as a pair of strong arms held her close.
Not those thugs again.
She didn't dare to look up. Her body hurt. Her mind was racing. Squeezing her eyes shut she turned her head away.
"It's okay. You're safe now," those words, the calm tone of voice. It all calmed her down somehow. Winching in pain she turned her head just a little. Opening her eyes slightly, she found herself stare straight into a pair of very blue eyes. It was like the world stood still, even if it was only for a few seconds. Those dashing eyes.
"Are you okay? You're bleeding," the owner of the eyes asked. Kimberly felt unable to say a word. Her vision was blurred, but his eyes kept her stare.
"I— Who're…. you?" she breathed out in a slow almost inaudible whisper. She tried to take in his face, but her brain refused to work with her.
"Hey stay with me! Hey!" the voice, the vision, everything went into a black blur as her body gave in.
