Hi, a new gargoyles crossover with Narnia I want to do now after Harry Potter. Enjoy!
Lexington was bored, for his Clan didn't have much to do since the Quarrymen haven't been very active for some reason. His rookery brothers and sister had found their own hobbies, but for him, he just wanted something exciting to happen, anything! Technology was fine, but after a while you just want to do something different.
Sighing, he made his way into Xanatos's collection. Maybe there could be something interesting in here. His eyes widened as he explored the different items, some of them dangerous looking. But then something caught his eye, an old wardrobe.
Huh?
Lex was confused, why did Xanatos want a dusty old wardrobe in the first place? He studied the plaque underneath:
Once property of Professor Kirk in London, sold to David Xanatos for a fair price of its interesting history.
Lexington still didn't see anything so special about an old wardrobe after knocking on the wood, opening it to see if anything priceless or magical was inside.
Maybe it's further in, he thought dumbly, stepping foot inside, but not closing the door, for one shouldn't shut himself in a wardrobe.
He moved deeper in, pushing aside the fur coats that were in it, until something crunched beneath his feet, it felt cold. And his hands even felt something prickly.
This was making Lexington feel nervous, as he pushed through the coats, suddenly seeing the sun.
Wait, the sun? But why am I not stone? And, where the heck haveI stepped into?
For Lexington stumbled across a whole new world, a world where the sun didn't turn him to Stone like the one in New York. His mouth dropped at the snowy covered land, and tracing his hand through the sun rays that poked through the trees.
His surprised look then changed to a grin, glad he finally came across something where he can enjoy the sun, despite it being winter here still. It was his own special closet world, and thrilled at getting to see the sun for the very first time. No wonder Xanatos saved it for his collection.
Lex explored further in, all sorts of smells around him, until he noticed something different after nothing but trees. It was a lamp. In the middle of the forest, looking as though it grew there many years ago.
Lexington circled around the lamp, touching it with his hand, sniffing it, until he heard footsteps, sounding like hooves.
He got into a defensive position, eyes glowing, ready to defend himself.
The Olive gargoyle gasped aloud when the creature stepped out into the open, it looked part human, and part goat on the waist down. The creature cried out at the sight of him and hid behind a tree, dropping his packages in the process.
Lex let his guard down slightly, now knowing this creature wasn't aggressive. He vaguely recalled seeing it in a book somewhere, but can't remember the name.
Approaching carefully, Lexington tried smiling, to let the goat creature know he wasn't gonna hurt him. The goat man peeked out, his frightened face now looking curious.
"Uh-uh, s-sorry about screaming like that, I just didn't want to scare you," mumbled the goat man. Lex smirked. Him? Scared? He'd sooner be scared of flowers than a goat man!
"No, I wasn't," he said.
"Well, that's a relief," muttered the goat man, starting to pick up his packages.
"But, please don't take this the wrong way, but what are you?"
The goat man smiled. "I'm a faun, of course!"
Ah, so that's what he is! Lex realized after finding out how stupid he was.
"And what about you? You aren't a goblin, by any chance?" The faun asked. Lexington frowned in offense.
"No, I'm what you would call a gargoyle."
The faun's eyes widened at this revelation. A gargoyle here in Narnia?
"I'm the smallest in my Clan, but I can be tough when I need to," Lexington added in, folding his arms. The fawn nodded.
"So this means you aren't from around here?" He asked. Lex nodded.
"Yeah, I was bored, so I decided to explore Xanatos's collection, walked through a antique wardrobe and ended up in...wherever this place is," he said, scratching his head.
"Well, you're in Narnia, my friend," the faun said. Lex raised his brow.
"All this forest is, from the lamppost all the way to castle Cair Paravel on the Eastern Ocean," he explained, gesturing to the distant ocean.
Oh man, this is definitely not in New York anymore! Lexington thought, a small twinge of excitement and nerves rising, really awed at the idea of another universe inside a wardrobe.
"I also have to ask. I'm normally not like this during the day, for I become a statue by this hour. Why?" Lex asked, too. The faun stroked his chin. His late father had a book on gargoyles that explained how they lived, for a Clan of gargoyles used to roam Narnia until the Queen wiped them out when she took over, because they helped Aslan rule and watch over the land, protecting it with their lives.
"It must be a different sun from your world, so possibly that's why, but I have a book that explains better than me," he said, before realizing he hadn't introduced himself. "Please allow me to introduce myself, I am called Tumnus," he greeted.
Lex held out his hand. "It's nice to meet you, Tumnus, I'm Lexington from Manhattan New York." But Tumnus didn't take his hand.
Lex frowned. "Er, you're supposed to shake my hand," he said. Did Tumnus didn't know how to?
"Why?" Tumnus asked. Come to think of it, even Lexington didn't know himself.
"I seriously don't know, but, it's what you do to greet someone," he explained. Tumnus smiled, before taking Lexington's hand. So far, this gargoyle didn't seem so bad to him.
"Uh, perhaps, Lexington of man hattan, you'd like to stop by my house? I haven't had visitors in ages and it would be nice to have company. I can make tea and, pull out the cakes and sardines," Tumnus suggested.
It all sounded very tempting, but Lex knew he had to go home.
"It sounds nice but I ought to head back to my Clan, they all probably miss me," he said, backing up. Tumnus nodded, though his eyes looked lonely. This made Lex groan, possibly it couldn't hurt. Seeing a Fawn's home sounded rather interesting, as long as he didn't linger there for too long of course.
"Well, uh, maybe just for a bit. Sure my Clan wouldn't mind," he then said, giving in with a smile. Tumnus smiled too, as the two unusual couple ventured through the snowy woods together.
Decided to make a few changes and add an idea that this particular sun didn't turn a gargoyle to stone right away, but let's them do it whenever they choose, and I realized I spelled faun wrong thanks to my friend, so I fixed that too. :)
But I hope for more after I finish Brooklyn and the Boy Who Lived!
