His gun cracked within his arms. A scout rifle, upgraded by Dead Orbits technicians and specialists.

Each shot ending one of the miserable machines. Vex, his most hated enemy.

He leaped, a cloak of power wreathing his form with the crackle of lightning as he blinked right in front of the Hobgoblin.

His glowing dagger sang through the air, leaving only smouldering wreckage.

It should have been over.

He had triumphed, destroying the very heart of the black garden.

'Minotaur 6 O'clock'

His trusty rifle the Crypt Dweller SR1 disappeared into blue light as his ghost transmat it for something better at close range.

He spun, flicking a grenade between the hulking mechs legs as it screamed as enraged by his mere existence.

2 seconds later and as many pumps of his shotgun, he was again on the move.

'What's your status on our exit Sirius?'

'Working on it!'

He turned the corner only to wince at the ordinance aimed at him, he rolled behind cover, plasma just behind him.

He sighed in frustration for what felt like the tenth time. The lone Guardian gathered his bearings, and breathed, light crackling across his armour, as he raised his dagger once more, electricity covering it, expanding to lengthen the blade.

A Vex Goblin rushed through the door, and he reached forward, and tore it in half.

He felt something hit his back, as his shields promptly broke beneath concentrated fire.

'No matter.'

He turned around, and simply rushed past the projectiles, moving faster than his inhuman enemy could see. He felt for his light, and twisted, and with a leap, a shockwave of his light scattered the ambush.

He lunged, cutting and slashing, ripping and tearing through them by the dozen.

It was not enough though, more appeared behind them, his enemies converging like bugs on a meal. Each kill invigorated him with energy as his light bloomed, and yet it would only last so long.

'I've found it Liam. You're not going this one bit though.'

'What, is there another Mind?'

'No, there isn't, but the exits a strange portal. I'm not sure where it leads, I'll mark the route on your HUD.'

The Guardian grunted his affirmation as a blue icon appeared in his helmet. He changed directions, dashing towards it. He calculated every motion with the skill of a genius, his Arc light dimming every second. Finally he swapped his dagger for his rifle once more, and unleashed a storm of pinpoint accurate fire onto his path.

The corridors of this Vex complex were strange, cramped and old, as if this building didn't always belong to the Vex and they fit not to change it. Countless doors that could have slowed him down, yet for unspoken reasons didn't, burned his mind with questions, ones he had no time to answer.

As he exited a corridor, he finally saw it. Giant pillars and spheres, arranged around it like a piece of art. It was circular in shape, pitch black, and felt like the darkest of Void light, yet it was neither light nor darkness.

It was eerie, as if it was a very hole in existence itself, something that was simply missing, that should not.

Even as he sprinted towards it, projectiles raining just behind him, he couldn't help but voice his doubts.

'Are you sure this is a good idea Sirius?'

'You asked for an exit. I found an exit, what could possibly be wrong?'

'Oh for the love of... If this kills me again I'll have words!'

With a sense of foreboding he really didn't want to ignore, Liam tossed caution to the wind and leaped through it, the air cracking as he entered.

Authors Note

So for the past two years I've been brainstorming a Halo and Danmachi cross. I even came up with numbers, estimating that while a Spartan would probably be slow, they would be able to react to even the fastest of adventurers thanks to Spartan time, and their training and augmentations would provide a boost that would allow insane, if not Bells speed of levelling up. Then I heard that higher levels can destroy mountains and tossed that idea out the window.

Mountains huh? Well Crota cracked a moon. Now I'm going to crack this setting like an egg.
