It was evening, and while everyone else was enjoying their time quite comfortably, there was one exception: Carrie White. The girl had a nightmarish life. Being tortured by her religiously insane mother, Margaret White, and by her fellow classmates at school, namely a group of popular girls called the Ultras.

On the previous day, Carrie had gotten her very first period in the girls locker room. However, the poor girl never learned about menstruation and became very frightened. For this, all the other girls mocked and laughed at her. Once home, Margaret beat and berated her daughter for supposedly 'sinning' and locked her in the kitchen closest.

Fortunately the next day, the girl discovered she had a power known as telekinesis, which she researched vigorously at the school library. As a result, Carrie picked up many books on the subject to take home and pour over. It was somewhat windy and some speculated there was a chance of a thunderstorm. Carrie started on her 3rd book when a small, oddly colored beetle came flying close around her.

It had a silverish exoskeleton with turquoise spots and Carrie didn't notice it until it was quite close to her. When the teen finally did see, she shooed it away with her hand about three times before it disappeared. What she didn't know was that it landed on the back of her nightgown and was crawling up towards her neck. As soon as it reached it, the beetle delivered a swift bite between her shoulder blades.

"Aaagh!" yelled Carrie while jumping off her bed. The book she was reading fell to the floor and she reached back to touch the fresh bite wound left by the beetle. The girl looked frantically around for it, but it had vanished. Suddenly, Carrie felt incredibly drowsy and in a few seconds, fell back onto her bed completely out.

Carrie's dreams were soon filled with vibrant colors. She also couldn't discern up from down. The entire world was spinning. The last dream intensified when the girl saw... a huge swarm of something fly past her face. They appeared to be glowing and Carrie couldn't exactly tell what they were because of their brightness. Then, quite abruptly, her vision went black.

Carrie's eyes snapped open and she sat quickly up on her bed. Unfortunately, the telekinetic regretted this as she felt an almighty headache come over her. The telekinetic doubled over on top of her pillow and let out a low moan of pain. Her head felt even worse than all the times her mother whacked it with a bible or piece of furniture.

When she finally managed to sit back up, Carrie realised it was morning. Looking over at her clock, she saw that it was... oh no. She was supposed to be up twenty minutes ago. She just hoped that her mom hadn't noticed. "CARRIE!" the familiar voice of Margaret screeched from downstairs. The girl's eyese widened in terror.

Same time last evening

Down near the outskirts of Chamberlain, a teenage boy and girl sat in a red chevelle, deep in a heavy makeout session. These two were Chris Hargensen, the notorious leader of the Ultras, and her boyfriend, Billy Nolan, one of the town's infamous thugs. Chris, in her mind at least, was having a not so good day. Firstly, she got banned from prom due to her and her gang laughing and taunting Carrie White during her first period.

Secondly, her best friend and second in command, Sue Snell, felt guilty for what transpired in the locker room. She didn't even back Chris up in saying the Ultras did nothing wrong. 'God,the NERVE of that bitch!' thought the brunette angrily as she kissed Billy more. They were parked close to a sort of swampy area obscured by trees. The orange sun sank low on the horizon while in the opposite direction, an almost black storm cloud loomed, heading towards them.

But it wasn't as if that was going to stop the two troublemakers from riding each other. Before they could commence with their lovemaking, Chris broke away, saying " H-hey, babe I gotta go take... er piss. Be righmm back." The teen was a bit intoxicated from a few beers before coming out to their spot, so her speech was a little slurred. Billy, though held onto her arm, saying "Na ah, don't leaving hanging here." Chris just yanked her arm away and replied "I'm bein suriouss here, Billy!"

She clumsy exited the car and walked into the swamp, leaving her pissed off boyfriend behind. She shivered slightly after noticing the wind had picked up considerably. The sun was almost gone when Chris found a spot to relieve herself. The girl started to pull down her shorts when she spotted something a few feet away. By now, it was almost night, but Chris thought she could make out... a figure standing deeper in the swamp.

It took a few moments for her drunk mind to focus on it. When she did though... the person's appearance made her uneasy. The man looked as if he was completely wrapped in dark grey plastic. He made no noise and looked as if he starting right at her. Then... the figure began moving towards her. For a few seconds, Chris just stood there before jerking back in the direction she came and ran towards Billy's car.

She could hear the man sloshing the swamp water beneath him as he got closer. Chris now had Billy in sight, who had tried to follow her. "BILLY!" the brunette screamed, trying to reach him. She was hoping he'd beat the crap out of whoever was chasing her. Then, she felt something wet grab her wrist. Looking behind, the mysterious figure had a firm grip on her arm. Chris turned her head back to Billy... who was just getting in his car to drive away.

Chris tried to scream for him to come back when she was hit with a wave of drowsiness. It wasn't long before she succumbed to unconsciousness. Bright colors flashed everywhere and the girl felt as if she were twirling around in the air. Finally, Several thousands of... somthings whirled past her face, each glowing with such intensity that the brunette couldn't tell what they were. After that, complete blackness.

Chris' eyes opened instantly and she sat up quickly. However, a colossal headache soon hit her like a ton of bricks, forcing the girl onto her back again. "Uuuggh, fuck" she groaned irritably. Once she gained enough strength to sit up again, she found, on top of being soaking wet, that she was covered in small leaves, specks of dirt and tiny twigs. She had apparently been passed out in the swamp all night and was soiled by a storm.

"Rrrgh, God damn it!" Chris muttered as she slowly stood up, clutching her head with both hands. She was going to have a hell of a time explaing this to her dad.
