Slowly feeling herself start to wake from her dreamless sleep, Wanda took a deep breath in and realised something didn't feel right. There was a dull pounding in the back of her head, slowly intensifying as she gained more consciousness. Exhaling, Wanda realised that her chest felt tight, as if there was a weight sitting on it. There was a small twinge of pain in her rib cage but she put that down to one of her many injuries she got while helping out the Avengers. Rolling onto her side to see if it would help, Wanda sighed in frustration when she felt a pain run up the back of her neck.
Flopping back onto her back, Wanda opened her eyes and saw the small ray of sunshine that had made its way into her room through the small window. Rubbing her face, she moved her jaw from side to side and heard the familiar crack followed by the feeling of her jaw relaxing. Careful not to wake the sleeping woman next to her, Wanda gently removed the blankets off her body and tried to sit up. Instantly regretting her actions, she groaned and held her head, waiting for the feeling of dizziness to pass as her head spun.
"What's the matter? Are you okay?" Darcy groggily asked, not quite awake.
"I just don't feel well," Wanda replied, sitting up a little more and putting her legs over the side of the bed.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Darcy asked. Sitting up, she moved over to Wanda and gently rubbed soothing circles on her back, hoping it would help to relax her a little.
"Can you come with me to the bathroom? I think I shower might help. I feel really gross and sweaty and I want it off me," Wanda replied, taking a moment to sink into Darcy's touch before she got up.
Feeling Darcy's arm around her waist, Wanda let Darcy lead her down the small hallway and into the bathroom. Tapping the lid of the toilet down, Wanda sat on it and went through the top drawer and pulled out a deep blue scrunchie. Quickly throwing her hair up into a messy bun, Wanda tried to rub some of the tension out of neck as Darcy got the water ready for her.
"Do you want me to stay with you or are you okay?" Darcy asked, wiping her hand off on the deep red hand towel.
"I'm okay, if I need anything I'll call out to you," Wanda replied. Giving Darcy a quick kiss on the lips, she got undressed and got into the shower as Darcy exited the room.
Letting the warm water run over her body, Wanda felt the tension in her shoulders and neck relax. The last few months had been tough on her both physically and mentally. She had spent many days and nights training and going over the Dark Hold. She had to get used to life without Vision, Tommy, and Billy and she felt that that was the hardest for her. She had left Westview without so much as a goodbye but one thing she did do was make eye contact with Darcy and she knew that Darcy would do nothing to harm her. Four months into her seclusion she noticed a figure heading towards her, hurrying along the mountainside. She was shocked to see Darcy alone who came bearing the news that S.W.O.R.D knew where she was. It didn't take Wanda long to flee her safehouse with Darcy in tow and allowing Darcy to come along was probably the best decision she had made.
Hearing soft music beginning to play, Wanda realised that Darcy had put on some Ludovico Einaudi. Listening to the sound that flowed through the bathroom, Wanda rested her head against the wall and let the music consume her. Wondering what Darcy was doing, she heard the track change to something a little slower and heard some clinking.
Feeling the water begin to run cold, Wanda grabbed the body wash off the small caddy and squirted it into her hand. Quickly washing herself, she smelt the familiar smell of vanilla and pomegranate rise and it made her stop for a moment and smile. Darcy always chose the most exciting scents when they made the long trek to a town while fully disguised.
Letting the luke-warm water rinse the suds off her body, she put her face under the water for a moment, rinsing it off. Hearing a soft knock at the door before it opened, Wanda turned the water off as Darcy entered holding a fluffy towel.
"It's nice and warm, I chucked it in the dryer for a bit," Darcy said as Wanda got out of the shower.
"Thank you," Wanda replied, blushing as Darcy wrapped her up in it. Feeling the warmth of the towel seep into her body, she closed her eyes and leaned into Darcy. Smiling as she felt Darcy's arms wrap around her, holding her close, Wanda was grateful to have someone who was always there for her.
"Do you feel any better?" Darcy asked, taking a second to look at Wanda to see if she had regained any more colour to her face
"I feel a little better. The shower did definitely help, my head doesn't hurt as much and the pain in my neck is almost gone even though I think I'll regret saying that later. It still feels like my chest is heavy, like something is sitting on it and my ribs still kind of hurt but not as bad. And my head is starting to hurt a little more," Wanda replied, pulling the towel closer around her body as it started to lose its warmth.
"That's not good at all. When you're ready I have a pot of chamomile tea waiting for us, I thought it would help to make you feel a little bit better," Darcy said, placing a soft kiss on Wanda's temple.
Taking Darcy by the hand, Wanda led them back into their bedroom and had to stop for a moment as her head started to spin. Feeling Darcy's hand on lower back, supporting her, she knew that nothing bad would happen if she got too ill.
"I don't think I can dry myself off," Wanda softly said. "My head, it keeps feeling like it's spinning."
"Do you want me to dry you?" Darcy offered, watching as Wanda nodded her head.
Taking the towel from Wanda, Darcy gently dried off Wanda's shoulders, neck, and back. Moving to the rest of Wanda's body, Darcy made sure she removed all the water droplets with the towel, leaving Wanda nice and dry.
"All done," Darcy smiled. Hanging the towel on the hook on the back of the bedroom door, she looked to Wanda who was looking at the clothing she had gotten out for her. "Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing is wrong, you got me out your favourite oversized shirt, the one I really love wearing," Wanda replied as she slipped on her underwear and sweatpants.
"I wanted you to be comfortable," Darcy responded, blushing slightly as Wanda placed a feather-soft kiss to her lips.
"Thank you." Slipping the oversized shirt on, Wanda inhaled and was pleased when she realised it still smelled like Darcy.
Feeling Darcy take hold of her hand, Wanda followed her out to their small living room where a pot of tea and two mugs were sitting on the coffee table. Hearing the soft music still playing, Wanda sat down and could feel the warmth coming from the fireplace. Looking into it she watched as the flames danced together along the logs of wood, jumping every once in a while.
Gratefully accepting a hot cup of chamomile tea, Wanda took a sip and closed her eyes as the liquid warmed the back of her throat. It was only meant to be fall but to her it felt a lot colder and the tea reminded her of that. Looking at Darcy, she watched her for a moment and wondered how she ever got so lucky.
"Thank you for taking care of me," Wanda softly said as she took another sip of tea.
"You don't have to thank me. It's what you do when you love each other and there is nothing I'd rather be doing with my day than making sure my sick girlfriend is feeling the best she can. I love you Wanda Maximoff and I'll happily tell you as many times as you need me to," Darcy replied, making sure Wanda knew that she wanted to be here with her.
"I love you Darcy Lewis and I'm glad you found me and decided to stay," Wanda responded, putting her mug down on the coffee table and curling up on the couch.
"I climbed mountains trying to find you and I would do it all again as you mean the world to me and I wouldn't have it any other way." Placing her cup down next to Wanda's, Darcy turned so she was facing Wanda.
"I love you so much Darcy." Gently cupping Darcy's face, Wanda gently pressed their lips together in a passionate kiss, lingering for just a moment before pulling away and looking into Darcy's blue eyes with her green. "I love you."
Feeling as if she could see into Wanda's soul through her beautiful eyes, Darcy swallowed as a small smile played on her face. "I know."
Watching as Wanda shook her head at her while giggling, Darcy pulled the blanket off the back of the couch and spread out along the large soft cushions. Patting the empty room in front of her, Darcy smiled when Wanda laid down in front of her, snuggling into her. Laying the plush blanket over them both, she wrapped an arm around Wanda's waist and pressed a loving kiss to the back of her head as Wanda turned the television on and found them some cartoons to watch until she started to feel better.
