Attack on Titan
The Devil Unleashed: Break the Seal
A/N: This was inspired by a picture I saw on DeviantArt and was just another idea of how to create a different aftermath with a darker repercussion than what was already dealt.
Liberio had been devastated by the attack made by Eren Yeager and the people of Paradis Island, leaving countless people dead or injured…and the Marleyan military had been damaged. But what really affected Marley beyond any reasonable doubt…was how helpless they were left because of this unexpected attack, leaving the people enraged and humiliated.
"Such a cruel world," said a young girl with dark eyes and pale skin, sitting in a military base in front of a group of Marleyan military officials that had been fortunate enough to survive the attack made by the usurped Colossal Titan. "Your enemies from Paradis are truly a cruel bunch. What will you do now?"
"What can we do?" Theo Magath asked her. "We were unprepared and outmatched. The collateral damage alone sets us back by months and we're still digging out the corpses."
"Then…might I suggest that you fall back on Plan Beast Release?" The girl suggested as her eyes glowed red momentarily, causing the other Marleyans to gasp and shudder at what she was suggesting they do. "It's only a suggestion, and one you're free to choose not to do at all."
"There's a reason why we shouldn't consider that plan," said a survivor from the destroyed naval fleet. "It may be more dangerous than the Titans themselves if left unchecked."
"Left unchecked? It's currently frozen and buried under a ton of ice!" Another survivor stated. "It's only considered a threat if it got loose…and it can't get loose. Not unless we break the seal ourselves and set it loose."
"Can we even be sure that that…thing is even viable?" Magath questioned. "It was discovered twenty-three years ago and has been closely guarded by Marleyans."
"When you mentioned it to me two years ago, you asked the same thing," the girl reminded him, "and I'll tell you the same thing I told you then. If you found it buried under ice and there were very details about it that span generations and thousands of years, then there is only one possibility for such: Whoever or whatever managed to seal it away…was either unwilling or unable to kill it. Of course, one shred of proof you have of such a possibility is an old carving that dates back fifteen-hundred years, depicting a large humanoid facing it…and it was much bigger than the humanoid itself, if it was another Titan far larger than your infamous Colossal."
Magath sighed as she was right about this fact; Marley possessed an old carving that had been salvaged from the ruins of other nations in their wars all they could theorize about the depiction was that it was a creature that was much stronger than any of the Nine Titans, including the Founding Titan. If so, then all the Eldian devils could do back then was trap it and do whatever they could to make sure it stayed buried. Try as they might during the salvage operations after finding the carving, they couldn't find any other pieces of information relating to the creature. Not even the descendants of people that had been devastated by the Eldians back then could tell Marley anything about it; it was almost as though…the people from other civilizations back then were trying to forget that this thing ever existed, as if they were more afraid of it than of the Titans back then.
"We don't even know if this thing could kill those devils if released," went another Marleyan military survivor of the Liberio attack. "Even if it could waste a few of the Titans, who's to say that it can't stop the Rumbling? We'll have released for the one thing it can't stop!"
"However, desperate times do call for desperate measures," Magath uttered, "and are we desperate enough to want to destroy all Eldians?"
All ten military officials had to agree with the fact that they were now desperate; their Titans were incapable of ensuring their hold on power and their manpower had been crippled. They needed an ace in the hole, for better or for worse, if they were going to destroy Paradis and whatever allies they had.
"Find Pieck, Galliard and Reiner," Magath ordered, and the girl smiled. "We need to end this. Plan Beast Release is a go."
To be continued…
A/N: Uh-oh! What could it be? And for those of you that are curious about why a little girl was involved in a military meeting, you'll find out soon enough.
