It was Mother's Day. Artemis had given her mother a card and they spent some time talking. Before Artemis went to take a shower and Giovanni went grocery shopping for dinner with a list.

"H.. hey, Paula?" Zatanna was nervous, hiding something behind her back. Never had she felt so small before. Kind of scared, really.

Paula looked up to her, curiously. "Yes Zatanna? What is it?"

"I uh.. I made you a card." She presented the card, it was hand drawn and colored with glitter pens.

"Oh." She hadn't expected that, taking the card from her. The card was wonderfully made, sure it was colored outside the lines, but still. It was made with love and care.

"I uh.. I never had a mom until now, not to say that you are, I mean.." Zatanna sighed. "I didn't know the face to picture when I think of Mom, but now it's your face that I'm seeing and I just.."

Paula had looked from the card to her, seeing the girl starting to cry. She smiled, reaching a hand up to take hers. "It's okay." She moved off to the couch, moving onto it and patting the cushion.

Zatanna walked over and sat down next to her, rubbing her eyes.

Paula pulled her into a hug, smiling when she felt the girl grabbing onto her and crying. "It's okay."

She looked up to see Artemis standing in the doorway with a smile and tears in her eyes, extending an arm to invite her.

Artemis walked over and gripped her hand, still smiling at them.

After a long day of fun and happiness, Paula was sitting by the window to see Jade drop down onto the fire escape after everyone else went to bed.

"Hey Jade." Paula smiled, moving back to let Jade come in.

Jade wrapped her arms around her. "Hi mom." She pulled out a pouch. "Happy Mother's Day."

Paula smiled at her, taking the pouch. "Thanks love. Are you hungry?" She asked, opening up the pouch to see a small gold cat.

"No, I'm okay. I have to go. Just dropping in really quick." Jade gave her mother another hug. "Happy Mother's Day."

"Stay safe." Paula said with a smile before Jade left. As Jade left, Paula closed the window. Today had been good, she set the cat on her bedside table before pulling herself onto bed beside Giovanni.

"Goodnight.." came the murmur, his arm wrapping around her waist.

"Sleep tight my love." She smiled, closing her eyes to sleep.
