Hello everyone! Just a few little things before the story begins: First, thank you for being here! Second, I am new to this fandom, I ain't a pro so forgive me if there are some small incoherences or anything like that, I tried to make some researches but I might have forgotten a few things… And finally, english isn't my first language so please forgive my errors, you are welcome to tell me if anything bothers you in the comments (respectfully, I won't tolerate insults or anything of that kind).

With this, I leave you to the story, hoping that you'll enjoy it! (I still don't know how long it will be so… )

Chapter 1:

Name: Kyoko Aoki.

Nationality: Japanese/ French

Quirk: Undefined. Summons a uncontrolable dark entity when hurt.

Appearance: Average height, brown curly hair, heterocromia, right eye honey and left eye black, freckled clear skin.

There she was. Finally.

After fifteen years of lies and struggles, Kyoko was finally here, in UA High School, the world's best hero school.

Bowed, looking at the wooden floor in the Principal's office, begging for a place in.

"I am begging you to help me sir. You and this school are my last chance." she pleads, struggling with her words in this language she still doesn't master, her curly brown hair almost brushing the ground.

"I understand your demand child, but I would like you to tell me more about yourself. I have read your file, and I am very grateful to you for being truthful and not trying to hide anything from me, but I would like to hear more from you." the little… beast insists.

Kyoko straightens up, looking at the furry little thing in his leather seat. It was a peculiar sight that she was having a hard time getting used to. She wasn't used to see mutations and heroes like that. She wasn't used to see people at all to be honest.

"What do you want to know sir? I'll tell you anything."

"Why and how did you came all the way here?" he asks, joining his paws and putting his elbows on his desk, leaning slightly, ready to listen.

Here we go…

"I… I'm here because… I'm scared. I don't want to hurt anyone, I want to learn to control my quirk. I don't want...I know what people think and I don't want that. This school is my only chance to avoid this, if it fails then I…" she begins.

"What do you want to avoid? Say it. You need to get your fears out." Nezu coaxes her.

"Becoming a villain. They say I have a villain's quirk. But I know that's only because I can't control it. I want to do good with it." I don't want to hurt anyone again she doesn't say. But he already knows.

A calm quiet settles for a moment before she resumes her explanation.

"As for how I came here… I gathered the money, learnt the language the best I could, and… I might have forged my parents authorization to fly alone here… under the pretence of visiting my father's family." Kyoko admits sheepishly, perfectly conscient that it's what he wants to know. How a sequestered, fifteen year old girl, considered dangerous by the authority of her country did fly all the way to Japan unoticed…

"I want you to know that your honesty is very appreciated, Aoki-san. But, tell me, why didn't you apply like any other student? Why did you ask to see me personally?"

"I… I can't take the entrance exam. It would be..." tears flood in her eyes as she pictures the scene in her mind. A carnage. That's what it would be.

"Alright." the white little creature sighs, jumping from his seat to come and face her in the middle of the room. "I need to see this quirk of yours, I need to see by myself if you're right to be so afraid of it. Do you think you can do that? " he asks with a small reassuring smile.

She hesistates, pondering all the options she has. She can't refuse if that's her only option, and it's a sensible proposition, she can't just hope he'll believe her on her words alone. But…

"Don't worry about it, we have everything here to stop you in case things goes wrong. In fact, I think I know the perfect person for that!" his face lightens with a smile as he raises a finger in front of his face. "Could you wait here for a few minutes dear? Take a seat in the meantime!"

Kyoko nods and waits until the door is shut behind him to fall in the leather armchair against the wall. She takes her head in her hands and takes deep breaths to calm her anxiety. Minutes pass, during which she imagines all the possible scenari of her 'using' her quirk in front of people, and ranking them from dramatic to desastrous.

Finally, the door opens on the Principal, an old lady and a young man, about her age, sporting a scowl on his face, partially hidden behind the curtain of his black hair. Charming… A shame, he could have been nice to look at if he had been a little more amiable.

"Aoki-san, I would like to introduce you to Recovery Girl, the school nurse," she refrains from outstretching her hand to the old lady, and bows to her. Old habits die hard. "And to one of our first year student, Shota Aizawa. His quirk, erasure, will be particularly useful I believe." she bows again, however a little less low, to him.

"Nice to meet you. Excuse me but, erasure?..."

"Oh! Yes, you're not familiar with all this, I keep forgetting forgive me." The smile on the old lady gets kinder, and the eyebrows on the young guy's face furrows. "Shota's quirk is to erase momentarily the quirk of the person he is looking at." Nezu explains her with a reassuring smile. "Do not worry, I have a complete trust in his ability, so will you follow us?"

She takes a few seconds before nodding, taking her pine green leather jacket and her yellow scarf on the hanger and following them outside.

They walk in silence for a while, ten minutes at least, to a huge square building aside of the main campus. It's a gym, an empty room with a few benches on the sides. A quite old man -in his fifties or so - is waiting for them in the middle of the gym, hands crossed on his chest in his yellow costume. Nezu turns towards Kyoko.

"This is Gran Torino, one of our teacher, he will fight with you to make your quirk manifest. We will stay on the side and only interviene when necessary. I want to see and understand what all this is about, so we can think of a way to help you." he explain, in the softest and kindest voice he has used until now. It takes her a instant to process his words, but when she turns her head to thank him he is already gone and leaning against the wall with the old nurse and the Aizawa boy. While the first two keep a neutral attitude, the latter doesn't hide his annoyance at being here, his arms are crossed, one of his feet is on the wall and his head is on the side, watching in her direction with an apathetic but mean and annoyed gaze.

The old man coughs to remind her he's waiting and she walks to him, keeping a safe distance of a few feet between them.

"So, what do you need young lady?" he asks her, in a stern but benevolent tone. His face is serious, but his eyes are kind.

"I… hum… I need you to hit me, hard. And to run away." she asks, she hadn't realized how weird it was to ask until now that it was out of her mouth.

"I'm not going to hit you like that, not without a proper fight!" he exclaims, flabbergasted at Kyoko's curious demand.

"Please, it will be quicker." she insists. "And, really, move right after, as far as you can. I mean it." she adds, in the most serious tone she can manage.

She really doesn't want to harm anyone, especially not an old man. But he is a pro hero, she has to be confident he can handle it. And the others are there in case something goes wrong.

He sees her seriousness in her eyes and nods reluctantly, coming closer with a deep sight.

"Ready?"

"Yes."

Kyoko doesn't have time to blink before his foot hit her chest hard enough to propulse her a few feet away, emptying her lungs in the same time. She can see him jump and catch one of the railing of the ceiling before the demon appear.

It's big, bigger than the last time she had seen it, about seven feet tall. A two meters ethereal silhouette of a man made only of muscles with two shining red eyes on his face. It stands in front of her for a second before jumping toward Gran Torino. Fortunaltely, he is fast and jumps to dodge the attack, landing on the other side of the gym when the hands of her monstrous quirk close around the beam he had been standing on seconds before, reducing it to dust and shards.

Unfortunately, when it lands, the 'demon' spots the others behind Kyoko and switches his target to them, the closest ones. It runs to them, fists ready to strike, not caring about who is a threat and who is not. Anyone who's not Kyoko is a threat to it.

The principal turns to Aizawa and gives him a sign. His eyes lock into Kyoko's just as she's screaming to them to run, they turn red, his hairs floating around his face like a halo. The next second, her quirk has disappeared, just inches from them, and the gym is bathed in a heavy silence. The only noise she could hear was her own panting and her heart drumming against her chest. She was stuned by how it had been all over in a blink, when she had struggled for years... If only they had been willing to help her instead of swipping her under the carpet to be forgotten…

She's startled from her train of thoughts by a hand hovering near her face. She looks up to see the old yellow hero above her, waiting for her to get up. She takes his hand gratefully and hauls herself on her feet. The aches in her body make her wince. Her chest must be growing a giant bruise, her back had cracked at the fall and her legs were wobbling with the backlash of the intense past two minutes.

"I hope I didn't hurt you too much." the old man says with a wince. Kyoko simply shakes her head with a small reassuring but strained smile, too shocked to speak just yet.

Then she turns around to go back to the group and notices that he guy's eyes are still on her, still glowing red, and still glaring daggers in her face. Her surprise must show on her face because Principal Nezu turns to him to tell him something . Aizawa closes him eyes and takes a small bottle of eyedrops in his pocket, puts some in his eyes, and pays great attention at not looking at her again after that.

Recovery Girl takes Kyoko's hand and brings her closer, assessing her injuries, and giving her a kiss on the hand. She jumps in surprise at the unexpected, and kind of unwelcomed, contact. She had never been a very tactile person.

"That's how my quirk works dear, it will make you heal faster. I should have warned you, sorry." She doesn't have time to answer as the principal gestures them to follow him back to his office. He had been silent the whole time, his furry face grave and closed.

They all enter his office, standing while the principal pours a cup of tea for everyone and beckons them to take a sit around the coffee table on the side. Once everyone is settled with their cup in their hands, he speaks.

"I have to say, I have never seen anything like your quirk Aoki-san. I have seen people with shadows or doppelganger quirks, yes, but never as… wild."

She head bows to look at her lap, ashamed, worrying her bottom lips with her teeth.

"May I ask you how are quirks and heros considered in your country? You grew up in France right?"

Kyoko nods, forcing herself to look back up at the people surrounding her.

"Yes, hum… quirk gifted people are… well, quirks aren't really well seen, the concept of heroes is practcally non existent. If your quirk is useful and discrete, that's all good. Physical mutation are hidden, even operated sometimes… Children aren't taught how to use it, we're taught how to hide it. We must all be equal you see, it wouldn't be nice to make the quirkless or the less powerful feel inferior so…" she can't stop a bitter laugh to escape her throat, remembering these aweful years of her life. "For those who want to, there are classes for that, as extracurricular activities, but they're expensive. And… and they wouldn't have taken a quirk like mine anyway. Had my parents asked…"

She can bring herself to look at the others, she doesn't want to see the disdain in Aizawa's eyes, the pity in Recovery Girl's pursed lips, the consternation in Gran Torino's fisted gloved hands. She keeps her eyes on the calm white bear-mouse, who moves his paw to encourage her to keep going.

"I have been classifed as dangerous at six years old, just after I discovered my quirk…" There is a moment of dense silence in which only the principal can understand what she doesn't mention. "After… Had I been a dog, I would have been euthanized… but I didn't have that chance. I have been homeschooled and under house arrest from that very day to the day I flew here. That is the fate of the 'villains quirks'. Like disabled people in the eighteenth century… " She ends her story on this sour note, hoping to break the deafenning, horrifed noiselessness in the room.

It's the old nurse who, tears in her voice, finally breaks the statu quo.

"But… you were a child…"

"Not for long." Kyoko snaps, immediately softening her outbreak by looking at the kind lady with a apologetic smile. "Couldn't afford it…" she whispers.

She feels ill at ease after spiling so much of her private life in front of strangers like that. The teachers would certainly have ended knowing all that, the nurse too by extension, but this outwardly hostile student… He was making her uncomfortable, back to when she had felt ashamed and unworthy under the gaze of the judges and her family…

"As a hero, a teacher, and an almost-human being, I cannot refuse you the help you are asking for, Aoki-san. But I have a few conditions to your admission to our school. First, you'll live here on the campus, you won't be under house arrest, as you put it, but you'll be under the close supervision of the staff."

That part really isn't a problem, quite the opposite even. She had completely forgotten about the living part in her urge to come to the school, and she couldn't afford an hotel room for much longer.

"Secondly, you won't be allowed to participate in any of the physical training activities with your classmates. You'll only be with them for theorical or non-heroic classes."

She can't deny the wisdom of this decision, it's only natural that he wants to avoid other students to get hurt.

"And finally, you will have to follow intense personal training everyday with your teachers and in the presence of Aizawa-san."

At that, both of Kyoko's and Aizawa's heads snap toward the Principal Nezu. Both of their face sporting expressions of horror for different reasons. She couldn't bear the thought of having his constant negative, belittling, disdainful presence behind her at all time while she fights against herself and her old fears. She opens her mouth to argue the point but Nezu raises a hand in front of them.

"These are non-negociable terms." he concludes in a no argument tone.

Kyoko doesn't really have a choice, it's that or going back and face her fate. She cannot even fathom the idea… So she stands and bows as low as she can with her still aching chest, fighting the tears gathering in her eyes.

"I accept your proposition, sir. Thank you, thank you so much."

"Very, well. Welcome to UA, Aoki-san. We can be proud to have you in our family."

And here we are for this first chapter!
