Brockton Bay I

Isaac and his mother lived alone in a small house on a hill. Isaac kept to himself, drawing pictures and playing with his toys as his mom watched Christian broadcasts on the television.

Life was simple, and they were both happy.

That was, until the day Isaac's mom heard a voice from above: "Your son has become corrupted by sin! He needs to be saved!"

"I will do my best to save him, my Lord," Isaac's mother replied, rushing into Isaac's room, removing all that was evil from his life.

Again, the voice called to her: "Isaac's soul is still corrupt! He needs to be cut off from all that is evil in this world and confess his sins."

"I will follow your instructions, Lord. I have faith in thee," Isaac's mother replied, as she locked Isaac away in his room, away from the evils of the world.

One last time, Isaac's mom heard the voice of God calling to her: "You have done as I asked, but I still question your devotion to me. To prove your faith, I will ask one more thing of you."

"Yes, Lord. Anything," Isaac's mother begged.

"To prove your love and devotion, I require a sacrifice. Your son Isaac will be this sacrifice. Go into his room and end his life as an offering to me, to prove that you love me above all else!"

"Yes, Lord," she replied, grabbing a butcher's knife from the kitchen.

Isaac, watching through a crack in the door, trembled in fear. Scrambling around his room to find a hiding place, he noticed a trapdoor to the basement, hidden under his rug. Without hesitation, he flung open the hatch just as his mother burst through his door and threw himself down into the unknown depths below.

And so, Isaac ventured into his Basement, encountering horrors and collecting items as he went. He even met the Devil himself, who offered him a deal, but he had rejected the temptation. Eventually, he reached a Cave System beneath his Basement. Here, he found more monsters and he fought harder, allowing him to reach the Depths. There, he would face one of his greatest adversaries: his own mother, but with careful maneuvering and the use of his tears, he defeated her. He took a Polaroid, a photo of himself with his family. With the power of the tarot card, 0 – The Fool, he was able to return to the floor's origin.

There, he saw a strange door and to enter it, he sacrificed the Polaroid. In the room, he found a pit and jumped into it. He entered the Mausoleum and found his Dad's Note, prompting his ascent towards his home. He traced his footsteps, once more fighting against the horrors that dared to stand in his way. His merciless ascent has finally culminated in his return to his home. There he found his Inner Child and he slept in his parents' room.

When he woke up, it was dark and he heard the static of the television. He went towards it and encountered Dogma. They fought, and while the struggle took a while, Isaac triumphed in the end. He fell unconscious for a moment, and when he awoke, Dogma became a great cross and crushed him.

While recovering, his home started to peel away, revealing Hell and its lake of fire. Isaac went through death and gained wings. Then, a great demon emerged from the lake of fire, and Isaac took to the skies to face him. Yet, before he could face The Beast, the Four Horsemen came and blocked his way. However, even they were not able to stop Isaac. And finally, he faced the Beast itself.

The fight was exhausting for Isaac. The Beast chased him around the lake and he had to dodge not only the Beast's attacks, but also the stalagmites and stalactites that litter Hell. In the end, however, Isaac prevailed.

Then, suddenly, the sky above cracked open, and a white beam of light reached down into the Earth, smiting the Mother of Harlots asunder and setting the blood lake to a boil. As the Beast descended down into the lake of fire, Isaac ascended towards the crack in the sky.

This time, however, he did not see the echoes of his past. Instead, he arrived before a throne. Upon which sat a mighty being hidden by a blinding light. Isaac knew that this is, without a doubt the Father in Heaven, God, the Almighty. And everything else – the splendor, the spirits and angels, the celestial beasts, and the elders – did not catch Isaac's eyes. He prostrated himself before the Lord.

"Isaac, my son, my champion, you have done well in your trials once more," said the Lord. "At any other time, I would have made you rest here before sending you back to face your trials once more. However, I have a new task for you, Isaac."

Isaac, still with his head bowed, "I will do as you ask, my Lord."

"You will not be alone in this endeavor," said the Lord. "As always, the others will be with you. And by his request, your best friend, Guppy will accompany you."

Isaac smiled at the knowledge that his friend will be with him. However, what could the task be that his friend would want to come with him? And so, he mustered up his courage to ask: "What is our quest, Lord?"

"You will go to a faraway place, my son. A place of great evil, but also of many heroes," said the Lord. "It is called Earth Bet and there, you must become righteous, make allies, defeat evil, and save the world."

And with that, Isaac fell unconscious once more. When he woke up, he was in a city somewhere, at night—bald and without clothing, as usual. A 'meow' alerted him of his best friend's presence beside him. He hugged Guppy and started to walk aimlessly, as usual. That was when it came.

A great beast of fire and metal emerged, chasing after a woman in a dark costume. Isaac knew what must be done and set down his friend on the street. Then, his tears came, but before he could do anything, he felt his face contort into a visage of anger.

A rage filled voice entered his head, "Finally! A challenge! Leave this to me, boy!"

His hair grew and a headband went around his forehead. The one in control is no longer Isaac, but rather, Samson, Judge of Israel. He ran towards the beast, with his tears firing in a barrage. Guppy ran beside him.
