Chapter 1
Carnival Fun Night
It was Halloween night, the sky was clear and sound of laughter could heard. The Mystery Inc gang had decided to spend the night at the annual Spookival, which was a carnival that is held every year in their home town, Coolsville.
The gang had just arrived at the carnival and were deciding on what ride they should go on first.
"Would you look at all the rides and games, they really went all out this year." said Fred, as they passed several game stands, food stands and Halloween decorations.
I'll say, so what ride should we do first." asked Daphne.
"Well, me and Scoob have an idea what ride to do first, don't we bubby." said Shaggy.
"Reah, re rave rn rdea" said Scooby.
"A food stand doesn't count as a ride." Velma said.
"Oh" moaned the tall, skinny man.
"Ream riller" grumbled the great dane.
"We can get snacks after are first ride, ok guys?" said Fred.
"Like, ok Fred. Just please don't choose a scary one." replied Shaggy.
"The closest to that would be the ferris wheel and I don't think anyone wants to do that one." Velma said point to the giant wheel.
"How about the Ghost Express." The purple dressed redhead said, as she pointed to building that had a large angry looking Skull, which had the words enter written on it's teeth.
"That's a great suggestion. " Fred said.
"I second that, What about you Shaggy?" asked Velma.
"Well, ok but only if me and Scoob can choose what snacks we eat first."
"Reah rnacks, mmmmhhh."
"Ok then, Ghost Express is then." said Fred. The gang made their way to indoor roller coast. Once they where on the ride they where screaming with both exciment and fear as the cart rocketed passed several halloween monsters including a werewolf howling at moon, a vampire coming out of his couting and a witch string a brew in a cauldron.
When the ride came to an end, the gang got off, they were still filled with adrenaline as they when to find something to eat.
"Jeepers, that was seriously spooky. " said Daphne, still buzzing with excitement.
"Boy I'll say. That defentally the best ride they're got here." said Fred.
"Personally I think it's too fast." said Velma, holding here stomach whilst she walked.
"Like, I'll admit that was a pretty good ride, but now it time for the first of many snacks tonight." said Shaggy.
"Rnack rime, rh roy." Scooby said, licking his lips.
"Well, do you two know what you want to eat?" asked the blonde man.
"Like, we do Fred." replied Shaggy.
"Rotten randy!" said Scooby.
The gang made their way to a cotton candy cart. Shaggy and Scooby asked the man to make it a jumbo. Even when it was at the largest size he would normally give his customers, the hungry duo asked him to increase the size of the sugary pink treat. The man continued until there was no more cotton candy in his cart.
"That will be $7.99" the man said as he handed the over sized treat to tall skinny man. Shaggy paid the man and thanked him before he and Scooby began to dine on their enormous snack.
"Nothing like a giant cotton candy to help calm your nerves after going on a ghost train. Right Scoob." Shaggy said.
"Right" Scooby replied before biting into the cotton candy.
"Do really need that much cotton candy?" asked Velma.
"Res, res re ro." the Great Dane answered.
As the duo continued to eat, Daphne noticed a cut out board where people could pretend to be Halloween monsters and have their picture taken for $1.50. The board had five monsters painted on it. These were a werewolf, a vampire, a witch, a beast like creature and a dragon.
"Hey guys, how about we get picture take?" she asked pointing to the cutout.
"I'm up for that." the blonde man responded to his girlfriend.
"Me too." said Velma.
"Well then, an monster in particular you want be Scoob?" Shaggy asked his best friend.
"Ri rant ro re rhe ragon." Scooby said.
"Okay then. Any monster you like to be Velma?" Shaggy asked.
"Hm, I think I'll be... The werewolf." She answered to tall, skinny man.
"Well Daphne your choice. Which one will you be?" Fred asked.
Daphne looked at the cutout and made her mind up quickly. "That's easy. I'll be the witch, hahaha." she said before let out a small cackle.
"Then I'll be the vampire, who has come to suck your blood." he said in a Transylvanian which made Daphne giggle.
"Well then guess I'm the what ever it is." said Shaggy.
The five friends went to the cutout and put their heads through the holes of their respective monster as a woman took their picture.
"Say Spooky." she said.
"Spooky." the gang said before the camera's light flashed. When they were done, they over to the woman who handed them the photograph.
"That will be $1.50, please." she said. Daphne paid the lady then joined her friends as they began to walk round the carnival, whilst looking at the picture.
"You know, we look great as monsters" said Fred.
"Yeah, and not too scary ever" said Shaggy.
"Well that the closest thing there is to be a real monster." said Velma.
"Rhank Rod ror rhat." said Scooby.
The gang laughed at Scooby's remark, when they finished Daphne spoke "Well I don't know about you, but I think we find something else to do."
"Like any ideas?" Shaggy asked
"Row rbout rhat?" Scooby asked pointing to a poster that had a purple with a woman is front, she had black hair and was dressed in a traditional magician's outfit. Below her was the title, "The Amazing Elizabeth, the Greatest Magician".
"That's great idea Scooby, I'll get us some tickets before they run out." Fred said then went to get the tickets.
"You guys better finish your cotton candy before show, just in case it blocks anyone's view." Velma said with concern.
"Like you heard her Scoob, we better chow down double time." said Shaggy before he and Scooby quickly devoured the sweet treat.
"Ur, such a digesting creature." a woman said. The Shaggy and Scooby turned to see the woman just as Fred returned with the tickets.
"Hey your the magician, we were just going to see your show." said Fred.
"I see. Well unfortunately canis aren't allowed. Now if you excess me, I have better things to do raser that chat to unimportant people such as yourselves." she said before walking away leaving the gang untalliey shocked.
"Well, she charming." Fred remarked sarcastically.
"Maybe instead of showing magic tricks, she could show people manners."
"Rhats ra ranis?" Scooby asked, but Shaggy just shrugged.
"It's the Latin name for dog. Sorry Scooby." Velma said in regret.
Scooby let out a disappointing moan.
"Don't worry bubby, will find away to get you in." Shaggy said trying to comfutiot his friend. Suddenly he got an idea.
"Hey I've got it." he said before whispering his plan to Scooby. When he finished Scooby nod his head in agreement, before shaggy turned to the others. "You guys go a head will catch up."
"Ok then, just be quick." said Fred before he and the girls walked towards the tent, as Shaggy and Scooby left to executed their plan.
Later Fred, Daphne and Velma where stand outside the tent where the show was, wait for Shaggy and Scooby. The two of them arrived with Scooby dressed as an old lady.
"Like what do you think guys? Pretty convincing." Shaggy said, but the others where doubtful about the plan.
"I don't think anyone will fall for that." Fred said coursing Scooby to let out a disappointing sigh.
"Well it have to do, come on the show about to start." Velma said.
The gang entered the tent and took their seats which were in the front row. The lights dimmed as the audience became silent.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the most fantastical show on the planet. The spirits of Halloween have come together on this night to show magic beyond your wildest imagination." the disembodied voice said. "Now prepare to be mesmerized by..." the curtains pulled back to revile the stage, a few seconds later spotlight shone on the middle of the stage before a small puff of smoke came out. Elizabeth came up from out of a trap door, the smoke was suppose to have hidden her, giving the allusion that she had appeared out of thin air.
"They said they'd fixed that." she mumbled under her breath. "Now for my first trick..." she removed her hat to show the audients that it was empty, then placed it on a table. "Hocus Pocus" she said before reaching into her hat to pull a rabbit out of it, but found that it was truly empty.
"Lame." shouted an audience member.
"Try a spell that will kept me away during this snooze fest." said another.
Elizabeth looked at the audience in frustration. It was then she noticed Scooby and a smirk appeared on her face.
"For my next trick, I'll need a volunteer form the audience. How about... you." she said pointing to dog disguised as a old woman.
"Re?" Scooby said trying to sound like an elderly woman.
"Yes, come on don't keep them waiting."
Scooby gulped, he walked onto the stage. His friends know that the magician had seen through the disguise.
"Now, ladies and gentleman. I will turn this old woman into a dog" she said.
The gang gasped. "Oh no" said Daphne under her breath.
"Abracadabra" Elizabeth said pulling off the disguise to show the audients.
"Impressive, now him back." an audience member in the far back said in a sarcastic manner.
"He was not an old woman, he was a dog in disguise!" the frustrated magician shouted.
There was silents in the tent, before the audience laughed.
"Some amazing magician, she can't even pull a rabbit out of a hat." a woman said.
"The only trick you can do is making your audience disappear" a man said before leaving his seat still laughing. The rest of the audience followed with the exception of the mystery gang.
Elizabeth turned her attention to the gang. "You ruined my show!" she shouted.
"We didn't mean to." said Shaggy.
"Rt's ry rault. Ri rnly ranted ro ree rhe rhow." Scooby said trying to apologise.
"I'll get you for this mutt, if it's the last thing I do!" the magician shouted. Before storming off stage.
Later the gang stood outside the carnival. They had been kicked out by security as required by Elizabeth.
"R'm rorry ruys, Ri ridn't rean ro ret rs ricked rut." Scooby said, feeling guilty.
"Like it's not your fault Scoob, it's mine. I came up with that stupid idea." said Shaggy.
"Hey don't bet yourselves up, you guys didn't know that would happen." Fred said.
"Thanks Fred but what do we do now?" Shaggy asked.
"Well we've got six hours before are parking ticket runs out so maybe we should just take a stroll and see if there's any other events going on." Daphne said.
"Well then what are we waiting for?" asked Velma.
The gang walked down the path to find something to do. Little did they know that their lives would change tonight, forever.
