TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of suicide (no mention of the word though) mentions of dysfunctional family. And bullying. Please read The lower notes, before reviewing. And, just to clarify. I'm okay. This story is reflecting on previous events that I went through, and upcoming events. But I'm okay (slight over exaggeration too XD. But what can I say? I am a fan of the dramatics)
Yakko Warner was in the kitchen, making dinner for his siblings Wakko and Dot. They were having pizza tonight, because why the heck not. Yakko was singing the nations of the world song while he cooked, but instead of the nations of the world, he was remembering how to make his and his Sibs favourite pizza. Usually singing to remember which toppings his siblings liked helped. After the pizza toppings were on the pizza and the pizza was in the oven, the oldest Warner could sit and relax for a while before the oven buzzer went off and his younger siblings demanded it was food time.
Outside The Warner Brothers water tower.
A young toon, probably about the age of 5 years old, looking vastly similar to the Warner siblings, You would presume they were related. But, unfortunately, like the Warners. Plotz, Warner Studios CEO, didn't exactly like her. So that was why she was screaming as he was carrying her to the water tower, telling her that she couldn't come out, ever!
The Warner CEO, banged on the WB symbol, catching the eldest Warner offguard.
"Yeeeeees?" Yakko asked, stretching the word out slightly. Plotz glared at him. Causing the eldest Warner to drop the sarcasm and act as 'normal' as a character with his zaniness could. "What is it, Mr Plotz?" Yakko asked, trying to act as casual as possible, while also resisting the urge to kiss him randomly. Plotz didn't say anything, just shoved the random cartoon character into his arms. Confused, Yakko asked. "Uh, Plotz? Who's this?" Plotz then, because he was a cartoon, pulled out a file from his hammer space. " A little rejection, that's what she is." He said, before leaving, leaving the little cartoon confused and scared. Yakko, still confused, put the file in his hammer space for him to read later, but right now his main goal was calming this little character down.
"Hey, shh, it's gonna be okay..." Yakko soothed brotherly, already, somehow, developing a type of connection with the cartoon character. Like, he knew her, or at least, was supposed to. The cartoon looked at him, tears in her eyes. "Why did Mr CEO say I was a rejection...?" She asked.
Yakko's heart broke, he hated that word! Rejection! Ugh! That word is too harsh, especially in the cartoon character industry. That word sounded so bitter on his tongue, that he felt a nauseous feeling inside his stomach. "You're not a rejection sweetie... The studio just, doesn't know what to do with you yet... No cartoon character is ever a rejection in my eyes." He said sweetly.
There were those brother tingles again.
Like, somewhere deep down inside of him Yakko felt this little toon was meant to be with him and his siblings.
"C'mon little one, I think something is telling me that you should stay with us." The cartoon character took his offering hand as they walked back inside, now that he was inside, Yakko had to do a doubletake. Was he seeing this right? Did this random cartoon character, that showed out of nowhere, look like him and his siblings? Or was this an Animaniac knock off?
She looks exactly like him and his siblings. White face, black fur, red nose, even the ears were the same.
She wore a blue dungaree skirt, with a white T-shirt underneath. She wore the same colour tights as her matching dungaree skirt, vastly different from anything the Warners usually wore, but still, very very cute. On top of her Head she wore a blue hat, with a tiny bow attached to it. She looked just like them, which bewildered the eldest.
" Holy United States Canada Mexico Panama..." Yakko said stunned.
"Haiti, Jamaica, Peru." The toon sang quietly. Yakko gasped.
"How do you-?"
"My creator made me memorise that song." The girl replied.
Bewildered, Yakko pulled out the file from his hammer space that Plotz had given him. He stared at it for a bit, before gasping.
The title of the file read: 'Melody Warner.' The file fell to the floor, as the eldest Warner held his hands over his mouth. Melody looked down, to hide the tears that fell. Finally understanding what rejection meant.
She wasn't wanted, she was just an extra character that nobody had any plans of making stuff with. And it was clear on the cartoon character opposite her's face, that he didn't want her either. Her cries became louder, stunning the character opposite her out of his trance. He walked over, bent down in front of her, and proceeded to sing the nations of the world again, needing absolute proof that he was related to her. If she could finish another verse of the song, then that would prove they were related to each other. "United States, Canada
Mexico, Panama
Haiti, Jamaica, Peru." He sang. Almost instantly she responded.
"Republic Dominican, Cuba, Carribean
Greenland, El Salvador too." Melody sang back to him as Yakko's eyes welled up with tears.
"You really are my sister sib..." he said quietly, amazed. "We what? "Melody asked confused. The oldest Warner sibling smiled.
" Look, Melody... we are siblings... We are related to each other... "Melody started to cry, which confuse the eldest. "So why wasn't I part of the Animaniacs? Mr CEO said I was-I was a rejection..."
Yakko gasped, his confusion turning into anger. "WHO DARE REJECT YOU?!" He shouted, pulling his poor rejected baby sister into his arms. Melody began to cry again, which broke the eldest. "C'mon, Second sister sibling, let me introduce you to the rest of your siblings. They'll be so excited to meet ya!" He said, picking his Second sister sibling up, and carrying her to where his other siblings were waiting.
"FINALLY!" Wakko says. "What took you-" Wakko paused in his sentence, looking at the other toon in his older brother's arms.
"WHAT AND WHO IS THAT KNOCKOFF?!" Wakko shouted, pointing accusingly at the so-called 'knockoff' angrily.
Melody, who wasn't crying before, started crying again. "I'm not a knockoff! I'm part of you! I got rejected!" Melody shouted, rightfully angry. Wakko jumped back. "Sorry for being out of character, Yakko." He replied sadly, as his older brother glared at him. "So you should be Wakko. She was a rejected Warner sibling. Plotz just handed her over to me, saying that she was a 'rejection,' when she doesn't deserve that type of treatment. She could've been part of our family, but no, they rejected her. However, that does not mean we will do the same, understand? " Wakko and Dot, Who hadn't said anything this whole time, nodded. "Good. I don't like to be the strict one, you guys know that. But I will if I have to be." They nodded again.
"NOW CAN WE PLEASE EAT?!" Wakko Begged and his older brother nodded with a giggle. "Yes brother sibling, we can eat now. " He placed Melody down, And told her to go make room with her siblings. She nodded, going over to sit next to them. Wakko picked her up, frowning a little. "I'm sorry baby sister... I didn't mean to call you a knockoff.." he said, guilt in his voice.
Melody snuggled her older brother. "It's okay Wakko, I know you didn't mean it. " Dot smiled. "Hi. "She said. Melody waved at her. "My creator wasn't kidding when she said you were the cute one! Look at you! You're so cute!" Dot giggled. "Thank you sis. "She gasped, she wasn't the youngest anymore! She was finally a big sister! "I'm a big sister now!" Melody giggled, bringing her older sister into a hug. "Yes you are! And we're together now."
Yakko soon returned with the pizza he had been making. He placed it gracefully on the table, making aeroplane noises as he did, which seemed to make his second sister sibling laugh. He sat down next to his younger baby sister. It would be weird calling her that. She took his hand, squeezing it tightly. "Thank you, Big Brother."
Yakko's heart swelled with a emotion he couldn't decide on, was a joy? Possibly. Was it happiness? Oh yes! Completely! But, there was still one more emotion, still one more emotion that he knew he had, but there was too many other emotions to work out which one it visibly was.
Dinner eaten, seconds thirds and even fourths given, and PJ's on. Yakko, Wakko Dot, and now Melody. Sat on the couch all in a cuddle pile as the eldest told them far and distant land stories to try and calm their minds after an eventful evening such as today. He told the story of his sister Dot, said Warner sibling giving The answers to each of his questions. He also told them a story about a princess, which the youngest really liked. Yakko would have to make a note to tell her it again.
Two of the younger Warners were now in bed, One after protesting that he wasn't tired then doing the cliche thing of yawning straight after he said it, and the other quite happily went up to bed, after giving her good night kisses and cuddles of course. All that was left was, Melody.
"Mel?" Yakko called, she was just here a second ago, where did his younger sister that wasn't already in bed asleep go?
He found her not long after, huddled in a ball, crying again. She was an emotional little one wasn't she? He sat beside her wrapping a Comforting arm around her. "You're an emotional little one aren't ya? Guess your creator made that one of your traits, huh?" Melody shook her head. "No, I'm a reflection of what my creator wants to be in her real life."
Yakko chuckles. "What? She got a life she can't deal with?" Yakko teased. Melody looked at him, folding her arms.
"No Yakko. My creator lives in a life that she never wanted. She gets made fun of all the time for her disability, she gets judged for liking Animaniacs or any other cartoons, she's a lot different than me. She has a disability, which means she doesn't walk, causing people to think things like her needing help all the time when she doesn't, she is very independent, but not everyone in her life thinks that. She lives in a toxic home environment, wishing she was never part of it. Her life is a little too much sometimes. Resulting in her self-esteem staying relatively low a lot of the time. Even resulting in thoughts that no one, not even a cartoon character should be thinking."
Yakko was stunned into silence. "You mean, your creator, tried to kill herself?"
Melody gasped. "No! Thankfully not. Thankfully, she physically can't, which is a relief. But she has thought of it, once or twice. But thankfully, her favourite characters saved her on those occasions. She made me fairly recently, as in, like, last night, she is going to be having surgery soon and she is a little nervous about it, this is her way of telling people how she feels. Her favourite character right now is you, Yakko, your keeping her motivated to keep going. I was designed as a way for her to thank you." Melody said, squeezing Yakko's hand tightly.
"She just designed you, last night? Wow! She came up with your story and everything? "Melody nodded. "She feels like because of her disability, she was a rejected part of society. Feeling like she's just a side character, there to teach the main characters of society a lesson or something. Hence why I am a rejected Warner sibling character. I got rejected because that's how she feels. You, Wakko and Dot represent the very few people that she knows in her real life, who accept her for who she is, physical appearance and all. Now she feels like she has somewhere truly to belong. And that means, I do too. You excepted me, and now I have somewhere where I truly belong. Thank you. Yakko."
A/N:
This story hits very close to home for me. Everything Melody said to Yakko is mostly true. The 'creator' Melody is referring to, is me. I created Melody as the cut Warner sibling, as a reflection of being excluded in society because of my physical difference. Melody is who I want to be, but can't, and never will be able to. Melody can walk, I can't. Melody is easily accepted. I, unfortunately, I am not. Why? Because of my disability, everybody judges people with disabilities, thinking that they are mindless robots that have no idea what's going on with the world. Melody is a character that will empower me, give me a reason to continue to stay strong. Melody is someone that I am proud to have made. Melody is a beautiful character. She may be just a child, but that's because, even though I'm 18, my childhood was not what I wanted. I wanted my family to act like other families, act like we were 'normal' and stuff like that. Melody is 5 years old because I want to go back to that time in my life, when it was just me, my siblings didn't exist yet. A time where me and my family were happy...:-( something I will never be able to see again. Sad really...
My family is... Something. I'm honestly glad I found the Animaniacs fandom when I did. My family just thinks I'm weird, even though they've never said it, they definitely thought it.
Anyway, on a positive note. The story was heavily inspired by Fanimaniac4ever101! She is amazing, go check her out! Link here: u/14454515/Fanimaniac4ever101
I was also inspired by her original character Leela. From what I read of her character I love her! And I totally wanna include her in one of my stories! She just seems awesome!
But in all seriousness though. I honestly had no intentions of making this. This just sort of happened yesterday and I just kind of verbally cramped. But I'm proud of it nonetheless. Feel free to use Melody for your own stories (but please don't ship her with any of the Warner siblings, for obvious reasons) no need to ask permission to use her as long as you give rightful credit and don't class her as your own character.
But yeah. Bye!
