Deserted Island Getaway Package

Biff was jogging to his house after his evening's 100 laps around the town. As he approached his house, he saw Pete the mailpelican putting mail in the hippo's mailbox.

"I'll take that, Pete." Biff said to him. Pete looked at him.

"Hello, Biff." Pete greeted. "Did you do your 100 laps this evening"

"Yep! I just finished them. Now I'll be waiting for my 199 night laps, then I'll be done for the day and start it up again when the sun wakes up."

"Pardon me for asking this, and this may be stupid as I may already know the answer, but don't you get tired? One lap is fine, maybe even two, but three is overkill for me."

"No way! And what are you saying? You have wings. It's probably easier for you to fly than it is for me to jog."

"True, but don't forget even just flapping my wings is a workout. And I was talking about jogging on my feet like you."

"Oh. Well, as I was saying, no way! Jogging is my life as well as my other workouts. They keep me fit, in shape and feel like I'm a young hippo again! If I can't excercise, my life is meaningless and boring."

"I guess certain animals have their certain stuff that they like to do everyday."

"You bet! Some animals like to read, some like to write, some like the arts. But me, I like the excercises!"

"Well, you do you. There's such a thing as over over-excercising, that could be damaging."

"Don't worry. I know what my body can take."

"Good." He then realized something. "Oh yes. Here's your last bit of mail." He handed Biff an envelope and a package. "The rest of your mail is in your mailbox. Catch you later!" And with a couple of beats of his wings, he flew off. Biff looked down at the package and envelope that the pelican just handed him. Hmmm. He thought to himself. A package and an envelope? Wonder what in them. He opened up the envelope first and read it to himself.

'You're invited to live out your wildest dreams on a tropical deserted island.' It read. '...in what we are calling the Deserted Island Giveaway Package (Island Giveaway for short) In your package, you will receive a nicely folded up tent, a camp lamp and a cot. You may upgrade to a house later if you so desire. If you don't want this Getaway Package, send this all back, But seriously, who will not want to live on a tropical deserted island? Isabelle.' An island getaway? Sounds nice! He opened up the package. Indeed in it was a nicely folded up tent, a lamp and a small folded up cot.

Maybe I will take up this offer. It will be a nice change of scenery, plus I can still do my laps, maybe for longer if the island is super huge. He looked at when to respond. 'We'll give you a month to respond, a year to prepare (March 20th of 2020) then we'll be on our way. Hope to see you in the skies with us! Isabelle. PS: I signed my name twice by accident. I was watching a documentary about the history of bones that I got distracted. Whoops, whoopsies! No big deal, right?)

Biff felt sad that he'll have to move away from his workout buddies, but he was sure he'll make more. If the island had a gym, he'll know he'll make loads! He really hoped that this island will have its own gym. He was disappointed that the town he lived in now didn't have one, so a gym will be great! He had a month to decide and a year to say goodbye to his friends. Plenty of time! And with that, he got out the rest of the mail and went into his house.

A month later, he sent a letter saying that he'll go and that he was pumped. Now came the hard part, waiting a whole year. Fortunately, he could jog and excercise so the days just fly by. He couldn't wait. March 20th, 2020 couldn't get here fast enough.

The day had finally come. Biff was bummed that he had to wait an extra day due to the year being a leap year, but it finally came. He was so excited. And with his birthday in nine more days, this would make a great early birthday present to himself. As soon as he got all packed up, did his morning jog, he ran straight for the airport with help from his trusty town map.

When he arrived at the airport, he saw Timmy and Tommy's mom hugging them both. Tom Nook, Isabelle and the twins' father were beside them. Biff stopped to watch the bittersweet goodbye.

"It feels like only yesterday that my babies were put in charge of a whole store." The kits' mother said with tears in her eyes. "And now they're still going to do it, but this time on a whole deserted island, far away from their parents. You two are still so very young, yet you've grown so much. I'm going to miss you guys so very much!"

"Mom!" The twins complained. "Not in front of our mentor. You're embarrassing us!"

"Sorry, but I just can't help it."

"Your mother and I are very proud of you two." The dad chipped in.

"That's right. And we are going to continue to be proud of your guys for the rest of your lives."

"And you two know we treated your sons like family over the years." Tom Nook put in. "Heck, I still remember for the longest time that they called me 'Uncle'."

"And I now know that you guys aren't related at all." Isabelle added. "Took me a long time to learn that, but I finally did."

"And you know that I will keep these two young kits in shape." Biff said. They all looked at him as he came closer to them. "As well as the other jocks. I can't be the only jock on the island, right? There's going to be more. If not, there will be, once I get through to them."

"Biff!" Tom Nook said to him. "I'm so glad you are going to join us. You ready and excited to go?"

"You bet!" The hippo answered him. "I am so ready!"

"Glad to hear it." He then frowned. "Unfortunately, I don't think there's a gym on this island."

"There's not a gym here, either. But I still managed and I can manage again!"

"Again, glad to hear it." Biff was about to go in when Isabelle spoke up.

"Ooh, Biff!" She stated. Biff stopped and looked at her,

"What?" He asked.

"I saw a sheep arrive not too long ago and he was jogging. You like to jog, so there's no doubt in my mind that if you talk to him, you two will become instant friends. His name's Dom I believe." Biff smiled.

"Sounds like my type of guy; a fellow jock. See? I knew there might be fellow jocks going to an island. An island full of jocks! I like it. Now that is what I call paradise!" Tom Nook frowned again.

"Sadly only a few will live on this island in the beginning. But maybe as time goes by, who knows?"

"And as time goes by, maybe add a gym!"

"We'll see."

"You're not saying no! I'm going in to try to meet up with that sheep. Wish me luck!" He went inside, but not before bidding farewell to the twins' parents.

Biff scanned the whole airport, trying to find his future sheep friend. It was a small airport, but it was still like trying to find a needle in a haystack. There were so many animals. All of them were interacting with each other and just going about their businesses. There were rabbits, pigs, cats, dogs, chickens, mice, monkeys and other animal species, but no sheeps, He saw a grey monkey pass by.

"Excuse me!" He said. The monkey turned to him.

"Can I help you, cheeky?" She asked.

"I'm trying to find a sheep that loves a good workout. Do you know where I can find Dom?" The monkey shook her head.

"Sorry. There's a lot of animals here. But this airport is very small. I'm sure you will find who you are looking for eventually."

"Yeah, I'm sure I will too." The monkey went off. Biff was about to search again when he heard a shout.

"LOOK OUT!" The voice yelled. Biff gasped as he saw a sheep with a tie-dye shirt on and reddish horns, ram into him. The sheep shook himself off and looked and saw the hippo standing in front of him. He was shocked that Biff was still standing.

"I just rammed into you," The sheep began. "So why are you still standing? And I'm sorry for that."

"That's okay." Biff assured him. He then stood strong. "And I do workouts every day, So not the strongest thing in the world can knock me down. They might try, but they're wasting their time for they will fail."

"No kidding! I do workouts every day too. The more excercises I do, the merrier. In fact, that is what I was doing. I was doing one of my many jogs when I bumped into you," Biff was impressed by this.

"Is your name Dom by any chance?" The sheep nodded.

"I sure am!" Biff was once again, shocked.

"No way! Isabelle told me about you and ever since she did, I've been dying to meet you." Dom was surprised this time.

"You were? Why?"

"I figured since you are a fellow jock like me, that we'd have a lot in common. I want to know more about you and maybe even become friends. If we go to the same island, we can do our jogs and workouts together at the same time. Come, we can jog and talk at the same time. What do you say?"

"As much as I want to jog with you, doing it in a small airport with crowds of animals isn't a good idea. I got lucky bumping into you. I don't want to take the chances with someone with a different personality and lifestyle." Biff thought about this.

"Fair enough. How about we talk and jog outside then near the airport?" Dom shook his head.

"I don't want to miss any important announcements."

"Again, fair point. Why don't we just sit down and talk? Even experts know when to quit."

"Sounds like a plan to me, ideederoo!"

"Then that settles it then. Let's sit and talk." So the two animals found some seats and sat in them and had their conversation.

"And that is how my bod went from a maroon color to the color that you see today." Biff finished.

"Cool." Dom complimented. "So it looks like we have more in common then I thought. We both like to workout, our birthdays are both in March and so much more." Biff smiled.

"Looks like it. Isabelle was right. We've only seen each other for a while and already we seem to become instant friends."

"You got that right. Good ol' Isabelle picking just the right friends and grouping them together like that. She's a dog after all so maybe she sensed it somehow?"

"Maybe. Anyways, I hope you are on my island, Dom. Then that way, we get to know each other a heck a lot more!"

"I hope so too. Biff."

"ATTENTION, PLEASE!" Tom Nook shouted in a microphone. Everyone looked at him. He was in the center of the room. Beside him were Isabelle, Timmy, Tommy and two dodo birds with sunglasses on. "First of, I like to welcome and thank everyone for being here. Moving to a new place can be scary, but at the same time exciting. You are all about to begin a new chapter in your lives. I know this is asking a lot from you since this is a big change, You all are so used to living at wherever you lived before and now that's all changing to a remote island. You will all have to get used to living the island life, but I have confidence in each and every one of you that you will just like Timmy and Tommy did when they opened and managed stores on their own and when Isabelle became assistant mayor when Tortimer retired."

"And I'm very glad I took the job." Isabelle said. She then saw the microphone that Tom Nook offered her. "Oh, sorry." She took it and talked again. "And I'm very glad I took the job. Otherwise, I would've never got to see every one of your friendly faces and smiles!" She gave it back to Tom Nook. "I'm done." Tom Nook turned to the two dodo birds.

"And now, put whatever you have together for the two flightless birds that are going to aid us with our vacation needs, Orville and Wilber!" Everyone cheered as the dodos took center stage and one of them grabbed and spoke into the megaphone.

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen!" Spoke the dodo holding the microphone. "I am Orville and next to me is my brother, Wilber. We are in charge of Dodo Airlines and their airports, and I know we're both flightless and can't fly ourselves, but that's not going to stop us from flying you guys out where you need to be. You can ask me questions and Wilber will fly you to your destination."

"I can even fly you out on an island tour." Wilber added, taking the mic from his brother. "These places may not be ideal places to live because of how small they are compared to the other islands, but they're still places of beauty to go, and who knows? You might discover something there and take it home with you as a souvineer or better yet, a new friend may want to move in on to your island." Tom Nook tapped Wilber on the shoulder. "Oh, looks like Nook has something to add." He gave the mic to him. The raccoon spoke into the mic.

"The islands that we are all going to live on may be bigger than the ones that Wilber just mentioned, but they are still not that big. That means we'll be limited on how many animals can live there at once." Groans of disappointment were all around. "I know, it sucks. But just be glad with what we do have and the friends who we get to share it with. And you can always move to a new island if you don't like the one that you're on. Just tell Isabelle or myself before you do. And that goes for moving onto the island as well. Well I think I said what I wanted to say. Anyone else? Timmy, Tommy, Isabelle, Wilber, Orville? Anything to add?" They all shook their heads.

Tom Nook looked at the other animals again. "Well, if you have any questions, feel free to ask either one of us. Before we board the first plane, just chatter and enjoy the rest of your time here at the airport. Do what you have to do while we wait. We will board shortly." After he was done, all of the talking from the other animals started up again.

Sylvia, the kangaroo, was writing a letter to her parents while her baby was learning how to be a ninja from Snake.

"Do you want to say anything to Grandma and Grandpa?" Sylvia asked the joey.

"Tell them I said hi too." Her child answered.

"Okay." The mother answered. "Anything else?"

"Are you telling them that we're moving to a deserted island?"

"Of course."

"Then that's enough." Sylvia nodded and she resumed with her writing as her child continued to interact with Snake.

"A good ninja always sneaks up on his opponent." Snake said. "And when the moment is just right…" He kicked Sylvia by accident who so happened to stand up. Sylvia screamed as she toppled forwards, her letter felling to the floor.

"Uh oh" Snake observed.

"Mom!" Her joey shouted in panic, wide-eyed. Sylvia knocked into the letter stand and saw that it was about to fall on her. She screamed as she tried to jump away. But unfortunately, gravity was too fast for her and the letter stand fell on top of her.

"Mom!" The joey shouted, rushing to her side. Sylvia tried to lift the stand of off her, but it was too heavy for her. "It's no use Mom. I'll call for help." He looked at the entire airport. "SOMEONE, PLEASE, HELP! MY MOM IS STUCK UNDER THE LETTER STAND AND IT'S TOO HEAVY FOR HER! WE NEED SOMEONE WITH MUSCLES BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! PLEASE!" The baby began to cry. "I can't live without my mom. She's the only mom that I have." Biff and Dom looked at each other and nodded. They knew what to do and both ran in to help.

"I got this side." Buff said to Dom grabbing the left side of the stand. "You grab that side." The sheep nodded and ran to the right side. "On three, we lift. One, two, three!" The jocks used all of their strengths to lift the heavy stand.

"You're free!" Dom said to Sylvia. "Go to your son." Sylvia didn't hesitate, She ran to her son and they embraced in a hug. After Dom and Biff lifted the stand and set it back upright, everyone in the tiny airport applauded.

"Thanks for saving my Mom." The joey said to Biff and Dom. "Because of you guys, my mom is still alive. If you guys didn't do what you did, she might've died and I would've became an orphan. That would've been sad."

"Don't mention it, kid." Biff told the young kangaroo. "We're just glad that we could help and that your mom wasn't seriously hurt or worse."

"Yeah!" Dom added. "When you do excercises everyday like us and develop muscles like these bad boys," He showed off his muscles. "you too can maybe save a life too."

"Okay." The kid said back. "Maybe I will." He then glared at Snake. "You almost killed my mom." Snake smiled nervously.

"But the good news is these two nice animals stepped in and prevented that from happening." He sighed when he saw that the kid wasn't amused. He sighed and looked at the mom and bowed to her in shame.

"I'm so sorry for almost ending your life, Sylvia. It'll never happen again. I do hope you can forgive me." The mother kangaroo smiled.

"Of course I forgive you, boing." She said to the ninja rabbit wannabe. "It was an accident. I know you didn't mean to. It was just the wrong place at the wrong time."

"That's right." Snake agreed. "Glad you see it the way I see it."

"Biff?" Tom Nook said to him. The hippo looked the raccoon.

"Yeah?" He questioned.

"I'm afraid my assistant has something to say, Isabelle?" Isabelle looked sad. Biff was concerned with this set of news.

"What is it?"

"Isabelle made a goof in dating your letter." The hippo looked at the dog.

"What goof exactly, Isabelle?" Tom Nook nudged his assistant.

"Go on! Tell him. I know you're afraid, but you must admit when you're wrong." Isabelle sighed and took a deep breath.

"I told you to come today," She began. "But your plane doesn't come until tomorrow." She bowed in the same way that Snake did. "I'm sorry for my error."

"What about mine?" Dom wanted to know. "Is mine a typo too and I leave on another date?" Tom Nook looked at the sheep and smiled.

"Luckily Biff's was the first letter that she wrote and I caught it in time before she printed out copies."

"So you're good to go." Isabelle said, changing her mood back to her cheery self.

"Great!" He then frowned as he realized something. "I have to part ways with Dom then?" Tom Nook nodded.

"You could meet up again. Who knows? This is a small world after all, so it could happen." Both Biff and Dom smiled at each other.

Dom had his suitcase ready to board the plane with the other passengers, but he had to first say goodbye to his new friend.

"Is that puppy dog right and that we might meet again someday?" Dom asked. Biff smiled.

"There's no doubt in my mind that isn't a possibility, squirt. And when we do, we'll have a race to see who's the fastest and other workout related activities. We can have our own version of the olympics. When we meet again." Dom liked the sound of this.

"Who are you calling squirt? But you're right, we will do that and more...when we meet again." Both animals shook hands/hooves and Biff watched as Dom showed his ticket and went onto the gangplank.

Once outside, Biff jogged nearby as he waited for the plane to take off, He knew Dom might not be able to see him from in the air, but he stayed and watched anyways. When the plane disappeared in the distance and he was satisfied, he jogged all of the way home.

Biff sat in a seat the next morning at the airport and did a great big sigh, waiting for his plane to arrive.

"Busy morning?" Biff heard someone ask. Biff looked up and saw a brown cat right in front of him. The hippo grinned.

"Not really." He stated. "Just glad to finally rest after my morning jog to the airport."

"Oh? You missed your flight? Because this plane doesn't start boarding until another half an hour or so." Biff shook his head.

"No."

"Are you at the correct gate? Because this flight is for…."

"I'm at the right gate."

"Then why?"

"I just like to jog is all. I try to do it up to 500 times a day."

"Why may I ask? I get you like jogging, but 500 times a day? That's a bit too much if you ask me. Don't you get sore?"

"I do, but excersize is good for you."

"I know, but you should limit yourself."

"Thanks for the concern, but nah. I can manage. No pain, no gain."

"I see, well, I guess I can't stop you then." Biff shook his head.

"No, you cannot." The cat looked around, then noticed the empty chair next to Biff.

"You won't mind if I sit next to you? Every chair here is occupied here it looks like."

"No, I don't mind one bit."

"Thanks." And so, she sat next to Biff. To avoid silence, Biff asked her a question.

"Do you like sports at all? I love sports!"

"As a matter of fact I do, but I bet not as much as you. Since you like jogging so much, it seems like you are quite the jock."

"You got me. Guilty as charged. I love all sports that you can think of; soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, American football, you name it. I'm also an outdoors kind of hippo. Rain or shine, I'm always outside, doing some type of workout. Except you know, when I'm sick or something. I like excercises so much that I even named my muscles…"

And so they talked the whole time that they were waiting for the announcement for their flight. Biff talked about sports, Dom, his adventure yesterday with him, and yesterday's mix-up. The cat just listened the whole time. Biff learned her name was Katt and Katt learned his name,

"I get it!" Biff said with a laugh. "Katt because you are a cat."

"Except my name starts with a K and ends with two Ts instead of one."

"I'll be sure to remember that if I ever write you a letter." Isabelle then called their flight number over the PA system. Both animals stood up, Both animals were shocked about this. "This your flight?" Katt nodded, "No way! This is my flight! That's so cool! I'm definitely going to remember how to spell your name now!" Katt laughed at this as the two went upfront to show their tickets.

"Looks like you made another friend, Biff." Tom Nook said about Katt.

"I did." Biff admitted. "She's no Dom, but she'll do."

"And since you're boarding the same plane," Isabelle added. "You will be able to know each other more! And maybe once you know each other more, maybe even ma…"

"I wouldn't go that far." Biff said, interrupting her. "We will just be friends."

"But it could be a possibility! You two will make wonderful ba…"

"It is possible." Biff cut her off once again. "But just friends will do."

"Sorry about Isabelle." Tom Nook said. "She can get carried away as you two already know." Both Biff and Katt nodded with agreement.

"Psst, Tommy!" Timmy whispered to his brother, "Why did Biff keep interrupting Isabelle for?" And so Tommy whispered something back. Timmy then got it.

"Oh." He was then confused. "How would that even work?" Tommy was about to whisper to him when Tom Nook stopped him.

"Don't you dare." He told him. "Not unless you want to ruin your brother's innocence forever." Tommy nodded.

"Maybe you can tell me later." Timmy whispered. Tommy nodded.

Wilber announced their landing when the seaplane landed at their destination. Biff looked at Katt.

"Ready for a new life?" Katt nodded. The two stood out of their chairs, said goodbye to Wilber, and both walked off to start their new deserted island life.
