Love Is Danji-rous

Summary:
Kondo Yu-yu is bothered by the lively attention his family gives Momoyama Danji, at a time when the mood should be serious.
"Nevertheless, I'm glad. I wondered why Yu-yu had cheered up lately, but to think he'd made a friend like you, Danji-san!"
Yu-yu pouts.
To show up unannounced, after going missing for days! Not answering his phone. Not fixing the situation with the amusement park, which was on the verge of foreclosure.
Worrying Megumi-san sick.
Worrying him sick!
Yu-yu pinched a slice of fugu between his chopsticks. It was indeed transparent as Yukiko had gushed. Danji-san said he was licensed to cut the fish it came from, but on account of how his mom and sisters were embarrassing him and themselves, Yu-yu half-hoped the poison might kill him. That Danji-san responded to Natsuko's question about his credentials proved the fish wasn't the harmless type, raised away from the bacteria that gave fugu its fatal, breath-stopping neurotoxin.
He guessed he should have been impressed (and he was). The failure rate for earning a license was discouragingly high, and it took two to three years to complete the required apprenticeship.
Maybe be transparent with Danji-san, like the pufferfish Danji-san prepared.
Maybe when he got Danji-san alone and away from his family.
But first, maybe be transparent with himself.
It stung Megumi-san cried and the amusement park might be demolished, but that was a pinprick compared to how Danji-san leaving made Yu-yu feel on a personal level.
He yearned for Danji-san's hand on his head. In his hair. Petting him, as before. To tell him everything would be okay, even when things clearly weren't.
But Yu-yu was mad. Danji-san's disappearance…It highlighted to Yu-yu how his life used to look. Without the exhilaration of Vanguard. Without the relationships it formed.
If Danji-san wasn't around, how could Yu-yu do anything on his own?
If Danji-san wasn't around, how could Yu-yu admit it?
That he really wanted to be Danji-san's girlfriend!
