PANDEMONIUM

"What kind of freak are you?" the bouncer growled. He folded his arms across his bulky chest. Before him was a Kurt Cobain wannabe, with blue hair. "You must be out ya damn mind boy, you ain't bring that shit in here."

Everyone in the line outside of Pandemonium club was eavesdropping on the conversation. Pandemonium was a local hot spot. It was the most jumping nightclub in New York. Eighteen-year-old Bonnie was standing in line with her friend Jeremy. It was her birthday tonight, and she wanted to celebrate with him.

The bouncer was giving the guy a hard time. "Come on, this is part of my costume. I'm a vampire hunter." Bonnie noticed he took out a wooden stick, then bent it like rubber. "The weapons are fakes."

"Fuck, just get your ass inside." The bouncer let him pass on through. Bonnie found the boy's eyes alluring. They were unreal, must be contact lenses, because no human had green eyes the color of chartreuse green.

"What a fucking weirdo, right Bon?"

Rolling her eyes, Bonnie knocked elbows with him. Jeremy could be so judgemental, especially about guys. However, courtesy of those fake IDs, Jeremy gifted her. The two could get into the club without an issue.

When they entered, Bonnie took notice of everything, the fairy strobe lights flashing over the dance floor. The women dance themselves into a frenzy on high platforms. It was a full house, and ladies drink for free until 10:00pm.

"This place is packed," Jeremy said, running a hand through his hair. "The music is pretty decent, Bon."

She sighed in response. Jeremy was trying his hardest to grind on her, or body roll, into another guy with awkward lunges towards her. Beside her were two men passionately making out, while some random girl filmed them. Somehow this wasn't the weirdest thing she's seen in this club. Instead, Bonnie's eyes were on the blue-hair guy that was in line earlier. Looks like he was hunting for someone.

"Hey, man watch it." Seems like Jeremy finally picked up on the fact that he was twerking onto another guy. Honestly, Bonnie was embarrassed to be seen with him. Sure, they've been friends since second grade and now college. But sometimes she felt like she outgrew Jeremy, who was still the same dork that refused to grow up after the eighth grade. Bonnie was a mature and now a legal adult woman. Yet somehow she couldn't make new friends, because she was too timid to talk to new people.

She continued to watch as the mysterious hunter guy from the club line finally found his prey. A stunning blonde girl in a long white dress. Bonnie couldn't take her eyes off the angel face girl. She was the sort of beauty that Bonnie would love to draw for her upcoming art project. She was so inhuman, like an angel.

"I'm fucking your mom," Jeremy said, trying to get her attention.

At this point Bonnie stepped to the side, away from Jeremy, staring at what was happening across the room from her. She noticed two men, who appeared out of two nowhere, dressed in all black clothes, following the vampire hunter. The blonde woman slipped into a back room that was marked NO ADMITTANCE. The hunter followed her, and the two mystery guys marched towards the doorway. One man had dark hair, and the other was blond. The brunette drew out a sharp and long knife.

"JEREMY!" Bonnie screeched as she lashed onto him.

"What?" Jeremy looked concerned and pleased to see Bonnie into his arms. "I lied. Me and Abby aren't fucking. I mean I'd never have a chance against Mason Lockwood."

"Shut up about that," Bonnie grumbled, once she recalled what he had said. "I just saw someone pull out a knife and follow that dude that was in the line dressed as a vampire hunter. They went into that back room."

Jeremy squinted in the direction she was pointing at. "Are you sure?" Jeremy noticed there was nothing strange by the door. "I can't see anyone."

"Jeremy, go get help," she prodded, biting at her thumbnail. "Before someone gets hurt."

He nodded and strode away, pushing through the crowd of sweaty men and women, who were all trying to dance with him.

Not waiting around for help. Bonnie made her way through the crowd to get to the back room. Pushing the door to what looked like a storage room. Bonnie stepped inside, looking around at the high windows. She could take in everything, like the sound of cars honking right outside. She could also smell a fresh paint job.

For a second it seemed like no one was back here. Until she heard a woman laugh. She bent down, hiding, looking straightforward to see who it was. There she saw the white girl in the long dress again. And the two men that were following her. The blond one, who was significantly below average height with a lean and athletic build. The other with dark brown hair, blue-grey eyes and a slim build.

Bonnie ducking behind the nearest concrete pole, trying to peep behind it. Seems like they had the faux vampire hunter tied up with what looked like wires. The young man looked afraid.

"Are you going to tell me what I want to know?" the dark-haired man asked haughtily. "How many of you scumbags are here?"

"Define scumbags?"

"Demons, you asshole," the blond conceded, rolling his eyes. "Where are the other demons?"

"I don't know nothing about no demons." He sounded annoyingly arrogant about this.

"Hear that Luke, he doesn't know about demons," the taller man chuckled, a light note of disbelief in his voice. "Surely, he knows about the malevolent spirits whose origin is outside our home dimension…"

"Stop talking, Malachai," the blonde girl ordered, annoyed. "We don't have time for this."

"Olivia is right, Kai. Enough of the chatter with him."

Affronted, Bonnie's mouth dropped open. Everything they were arguing about seemed unreal.

The brunette, Kai, gave his friends both a cheeky grin. He reminded Bonnie of a hungry lion, sniffing for his prey. "I'm sorry, man. I've been told I talk way too much. Question is, what are we going to do with you?" he asked, forcing calmness into his voice.

"I know where Mikael Mikaelson is."

Kai shook his head once. "You lying piece of shit, Mikael is dead." That when he swiped at the other man, swinging at his jaw, knocking his head back. "I'm done with him." Kai raised his hand and Bonnie noticed the knife, but that was no ordinary knife. The blade was crystal clear, like they made it from glass.

"I'm not lying." The victim said slowly, trying to make them understand. "Mikael is back. Everyone in the underworld knows about this, he's been building himself back up."

Kai rolled his eyes. "Everyone claims to know where Mikael is." He almost snarled, his patience wearing thin. "I know where that bastard is, he's in hell. And you can tell him I said hello." That's when Kai turned his knife in his grasp. The edge of it was sparking like electricity.

Bonnie decided she would no longer hide anymore. She stepped from behind the column post and pushed her way between this Kai and the other man. "I won't let you kill him."

Everyone stood, shocked by her present. Kai dropped his knife, and the two blonds, who looked oddly similar, stared at her. Meanwhile, the man on the floor, still tied up, was gasping for breath.

"Who the fuck are you?" the blond guy demanded from her.

"A mundie girl, who can see us." Kai stepped forward towards Bonnie. He was in disbelief. "How the hell is this possible?"

She eyed him, taking in his damp hair that he had combed back and the darkness of the skin beneath his eyes.

"What's wrong with you all?" Bonnie asked stonily. "I can see perfectly, and I'm not letting you kill this innocent man."

Kai looked at her as he held out an arm to stop her from stepping closer to the now crying man. He moved down to pick up his knife. "Look little girl, how about you skip home, this is grown up business."

She glared daggers at him, hoping to petrify him with her eyes.

"I'm not scared of you." Bonnie stood her ground. "Let this man go."

Kai twirled his knife between his fingers. "First off, this isn't a man, he's more like a monster." He focused on her incredulously.

"Malachai, enough of this." Olivia warned him, but Kai waved a hand to silence her and she rolled her eyes.

"I called the police already…"

Luke's head was tilted to the side, his eyes curious, before he interrupted her. "She's lying, Kai, just kill the bastard."

Before Bonnie could fight him on this, the man yowled and tore free of the wires. She watched as he threw himself onto Kai. The two fell down to the ground and rolled around. The blonde girl shrieked, and Bonnie noticed Kai was telling her the truth. That wasn't a man. No, that thing had razor-like claws. And he was using them to slash at Kai.

Olivia wields her whip from her hand and lands a lick across the monster's back. This made him fall to the side while Kai rolled away from him. The glass blade still in his hand, he sank the clear edge of it into the monster's chest. Bonnie doesn't know why she even shrieked at the blackish liquid that exploded from the body.

Kai yanked his knife out of the body as it crumpled and vanished out of thin air. Bonnie lost her breath. She felt like she was having a panic attack. While she was freaking out, the others were checking Kai for wounds.

Bonnie moved to turn and run back to Jeremy. But before she could, the blonde blocked her. Using her whip to wrap it around her wrist and jerk Bonnie before her. Bonnie bit her lip, holding in a scream.

"You stupid little bitch," Olivia scowled at her. "You could have gotten Malachai killed."

"I was trying to stop him from murdering that man…" Bonnie responded, ignoring the growing anger from the other girl. Her whip was cutting off Bonnie's blood flow. "What kind of vigilante killers are you? When the cops find..."

Kai arched an eyebrow at her. "Those pigs aren't going to get a whiff of this, no body, no evidence, sweetheart." His voice was light. He could see her mind whirling as he held her gaze.

He was right; the body had disappeared once Kai removed the blade from it. There wasn't even blood splattered out here. It wasn't a crime scene. It's as if what she saw never happened.

"When they die, they go back to their dimension." Kai explained patiently. "There's never a trace leftover in this world."

"Kai, are you crazy, shut up," Luke interrupted, stepping up beside Kai.

"Luke, she has the sight," he said as he held his arm out to examine the long, bleeding scratch. "She knows something."

Olivia studied him carefully. "What should we do with her?" she froze, eyes narrowing.

Kai answered, staring at them as though surprised they hadn't figured it out right away. "She's free to go." A great, peaceful happiness rushed through her. Olivia releases her whip from Bonnie's arm.

"That might not be a good idea," Luke growled. "We should have Alaric talk to her."

Bonnie could almost hear Olivia grind her teeth near her. "Are you insane Luke, she's just a mundie, nothing special about her."

Kai turned around. But instead of scowling at her, he was grinning slightly. "I don't know Livviepoo. I think there's something special about her." He said in a dangerous, low voice, "What do you know about demons and warlocks, little girl?"

She blustered, suddenly sickly afraid, "I'm not a little girl. I just turned eighteen today, I'm an adult woman." Bonnie informed him thoughtfully.

Tossing his head back, Kai laughed. "Congrats, on your big girl panties." She flushed at his words. "Still doesn't explain how you can see us."

"Look, I don't know what the hell is going on here either." Bonnie paused for a few minutes, studying him carefully. "I don't believe in any of this, what I just saw…"

"BONNIE!" That was Jeremy's voice. She jumped around, seeing him standing by the door. The bouncer from earlier was with him. "Bon, are you okay? What are you doing in here alone?"

Bonnie turned back to see Kai, Luke, and Oliva standing behind her. In fact, Kai was standing inches behind her, and she couldn't help the furious blush that rushed to her cheeks. He steadied himself by placing his arm on her back, and she could suddenly smell his sensual cologne.

"They can't see us," he said, his warm breath blowing against her cheek. She forced herself to concentrate on what he was saying.

Bonnie slowly turned her focus back to Jeremy. "I thought those guys were in here," she said breathlessly, "I was mistaken, sorry for wasting your time."

When her head rolled towards them, she noticed the sneer dancing across the blonds' lips, while Kai's grin widened at her. It made Bonnie's stomach squeeze in anger, but she forced the feeling aside, having no time to deal with that on top of the dread that was filling her.

The bouncer's dark eyes went to Bonnie. But he didn't bother asking her questions. The disdain on his face kept her quiet. Tilting his head, he ushered them out of the room and right out the club's door.

"I can't believe it." Jeremy nudged her. "Banned for life."

"It's not that awful." She responded simply, seemingly oblivious to his reaction.

Jeremy squinted his eyes at Bonnie, his gaze even now penetrating volumes of skepticism. "Yeah, because I was the one who got banned, Bonnie," he deadpanned.

Bonnie shrugged. "Doesn't matter, plus you hated that club, anyway." Bonnie said as she walked by, waving. "Let's just wait for our Uber and go home."

"What happened to those guys you said had a knife?" Jeremy asked, looking out for their Uber instead at her.

Bonnie was hoping he'd drop this. "I think my mind has been playing tricks on me tonight."

Like clockwork, he let out a dramatic sigh and locked eyes with her. "You were pretty freaked out, and you're the most perceptive person I know. If Bonnie Bennett believes she saw something, I know to believe you."

His hand reaching out for hers, there was a small grin on his face. He looked so innocent; and some part of her had always known that. She realized she understood him better than she would have liked to admit. She took his hand. "Thank you," was all she could say.

Bonnie couldn't tell him about what she saw, what she witnessed in that back room. Not about Kai and his hungry eyes. Not about the cosplay vampire hunter, who she thought was a normal human man. Turns out he was a demon monster. Nothing was simple anymore.

"Look, I made an embarrassing mistake and got us kicked out of Pandemonium." Bonnie was still struck with fallibility. "Let's forget this night ever happened."

"Second worse birthday."

Bonnie narrowed her eyes at her friend. "Second, what was first?" she inquired sharply.

Jeremy paused, scratching his chin for only a moment before looking back at her. "Coney Island."

She swore she could see him smiling from the corner of her eye as she stooped next to him.

Few minutes later, their Uber arrived. Jeremy yanked the door of the car open and slid into the back seat. Bonnie went in after him. "Just remember, you can tell me anything, I'd never judge you."

"I know, Jer." She said, as she slammed the door shut and their Uber drove into the night.

Just not this.

AN: I've been watching Shadowhunters on HULU and I was like why not write a fanfic with Bonnie as Clay, Jeremy as Simon, Liv and Luke as Izzy and Alec, and of course, Kai as Jace. This is a crossover of the TV Series, The Film and The Book Series. Based on everything from the first season of Shadowhunters, and the first novel City of Bones. If you've read the books or watched the tv show, you know the story of Jace and Clary and the whole who's their real father storyline. The families in this fic differ from on TVD. Don't worry, I'll explain everything at the end of each chapter. But for now, enjoy and I will update soon.
