Mother's Day

"Hello?" Jackie said as she answered the phone.

"Hi Jackie, Happy Mother's Day. Thank you so much for the flowers and for the adorable drawings all the kids made me. All the pictures are hanging on our refrigerator, Roger loved them too, although he wasn't thrilled that sweet little Ryan drew Roger without any hair in his picture." Jill told her with a laugh.

Jackie laughed too.

"Thank you Jill, same to you and thank you so much for the card."

"You're welcome, I hope you enjoy your nail appointment."

"What nail appointment?" Jackie asked.

"The one that I bought you that was in the card. The last time I was in Vegas I asked Nick what your favorite nail salon was and then I went there and got you a gift card for the place. I did the same for Amy, here in Texas, didn't you see it in your card?" Jill asked.

Jackie wasn't sure what to say, she didn't want to hurt her feelings but if she paid for a card and had lost it, or somehow it had gotten stolen out of the mail it would be a huge waste of money.

Jackie decided to be honest.

"No, I'm sorry, there wasn't a gift card in there, but don't worry about it, the sweet card was more then enough." Jackie assured her.

Jill was confused.

"I'm not sure how that's possible but I'll make it up to you next time Roger and I come to Vegas." Jill promised.

"Don't worry about it." Jackie told her.

"I'm not changing my mind. Right now though I have to run, I'm meeting a friend for lunch and if I don't leave I'll be late. Happy Mother's Day, see you soon."

"Thank you, same to you." Jackie told her before the conversation ended.

When Jill got in her car to leave it was really bright outside so after putting on her sunglasses she flipped down the sun visor in her SUV, when she did something dropped into her lap. She grabbed it, and there, now in her hands was Jackie's nail salon gift card, she'd forgotten to put it in Jackie's Mother's Day card before she mailed it.

"Oh lord, I'm losing it." She mumbled to herself.

She hurriedly got her cell phone out of her purse and redialed Jackie's number.

"Hello?" Jackie said answered again.

"Jackie, It's me again, I found your gift card, it was under my sun visor in the car. I'll give to you on our next trip out there. I'm sorry."

Jackie laughed.

"You can't imagine how many times I've shoved things under my sun visor and forgot about it, Nick always jokes with me that he is always terrified to move my sun visor down when he drives my van because he's afraid an avalanche will bury him." Jackie told her.

Jill laughed.

"Well glad I'm not the only one. Now I really do have to go though or I'll be late, talk to you later."

"Alright, goodbye, enjoy your lunch." Jackie told her and hung up.

That evening Jackie got spoiled.

Nick went and bought her favorite kind of frappe, then went to her favorite Chinese restaurant and picked up takeout, and after they had finished dinner the kids demanded he make her a cake (which they happily enjoyed with Jackie). Nick then gifted her with a gift card to something called sip and paint for her and two friends the following weekend, which was something where the three friends could go, have some wine and have someone show you step by step how to paint a very pretty picture. Jackie had always wanted to do that, even though her painting skills, actually her art skills in general were terrible but it would be fun none the less she was sure.

To top the night off her dad came over and watched the basketball game with the whole family, with their team winning by a single point on a last second shot from none other than Jingles himself. It had been a perfect Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of my readers!
