Summer was now in full swing with warmer, crisper weather. Tonight was a quiet and solitude night on Sodor, with a thin crescent moon in the starry sky, and all the engines were back in Tidmouth Sheds. Everyone, that is, except Thomas.

It had been a few weeks since Thomas came back from Brazil, then formed a plan with Emily to share another bath of love together after two years since their previous bath. After giving such proud efforts, especially with Emily taking the last of Mavis' stone when she broke down, her driver decided to reward her by having David wash her with women's shampoo, much to Thomas and Emily's most unexpected but truly welcome surprise and temptation, and for the next few weeks, they continued to bask and shine in such pride and infatuation for each other...until Thomas' ferry for his next adventure was eventually due, and he had gone back to India to see Ashima, Rajiv, Shankar, Noor Jehan and Charubala again to see what they would be doing on this particular visit for the blue tank engine.

After seeing Thomas off and kissing him goodbye again, two more weeks had gone by, and Emily managed not to feel as lonely this time as the weather was turning out much sunnier than her wet and dreary day before she heard Donald's tarpaulin story, and she held onto the sense of optimism of what sorts of tales Thomas would come back with about Ashima, Rajiv, Shankar, Noor Jehan and Charubala this time...but on this quiet and solitude evening, there was something due to come along for Gordon and Rebecca. Something they had not yet done for themselves, which Thomas and Emily, Luke and Millie and the other engine couples knew all too well for themselves. A simple, but truly meaningful and lovely night was on the table for the two express engines.

Over a fair few minutes after returning to the sheds, the other engines exchanged a few stories about the day to each other while Emily could only wonder what Thomas could be doing in India again. But while the other engines talked, Gordon and Rebecca kept quiet and still. They didn't find themselves in much of a mood to talk with the other engines. Tonight, they found themselves only focusing on each other and didn't know what to say as they could feel something tweaking in both their smokeboxes, and they didn't fully know what it was about yet. As they exchanged little glimpses to each other, they thought that perhaps their inner thoughts would become clearer when the other engines fell asleep and silence would then ensue.

Eventually, the conversations quieted down and the other engines yawned to themselves and each other, then soon enough, James, Nia, Percy and Emily bade goodnight to each other and fell asleep one after the other, settling comfortably into their berths.

Everyone, that is, except Gordon and Rebecca. Now that the other four engines had fallen asleep, all was quiet. The two express engines exchanged a little glance to each other. Now they had all the silence they needed to articulate their thoughts in their own complete silence. Perfect for what would befall them in less than half an hour.

Over the next few minutes, Gordon and Rebecca thought back to their own day's work. As always, they had both made their way through another day with the express together and were both quite proud of themselves. They were both very thankful that this day's work was nothing at all like the high-stress express they both had to brave through together, squeezing in passenger service from Knapford all the way to Vicarstown while also managing passengers to and from Ulfstead Castle and to Crovan's Gate for Skarloey and Rheneas' tour run of their part of the railway. Today's work was indeed a considerably hefty effort, with both engines doing the same express run with four coaches each. It was still a most dedicating job and still carried the usual stress and concentration on looking after all their passengers and making sure there were as few complaints as possible, and although it was many times more manageable than their high-stress express, both Gordon and Rebecca could feel a steady sensation of accomplishment and satisfaction for their efforts today...and it made them wonder if they should do anything tonight.

This made both express engines suddenly remember their immense rewards exchanged to each other on that very night after their high-stress express was finally taken care of, and it made them blush to each other and hold back a small chortle. After they both sighed quietly to each other, Gordon looked to Rebecca again. Then as she looked back with such a cheerful little smile, something new began to stir within both of them...something that didn't require any words to be spoken.

Slowly, but steadily, Gordon felt his mind begin to drift away from anything else he might have been thinking, and even the express for that matter. He felt his full attention and gaze lingering solely on Rebecca, looking at every feature she carried, which made Gordon smile with silent and gentle admiration for his Golden Queen. As he knew since he began to have feelings for her, Rebecca was indeed a big and beautiful express engine. Her humble yellow paintwork was a lovely bright shade, and brighter than Molly's deeper shade of yellow. Gordon thought this made her look perfect in his eyes. Her wheel configuration was one he couldn't recall seeing on any other engine, and the absolute best features of all could be found in her face. Rebecca's lovely, round cheeks were so adorable to Gordon's eyes, and her cheerful smile with little curves at the ends made it even better. Rebecca's little nose was very adorable too, and as she blinked every few seconds, Gordon found himself noticing just how her pointy eyelashes seemed to point even further with every blink she made.

As she watched Gordon taking in her features in the ongoing silence, Rebecca found herself blushing lightly. She thought it only be right to take in Gordon's features for a while. Her eyes slowly began gazing along everything she could see about him. In Rebecca's eyes, Gordon was indeed a big and powerful engine...and even handsome to her eyes. His big, blue boiler with red stripes, his blue wheels with silver side rods and his dignified downward curving firebox all seemed to fit together like the most perfect puzzle Rebecca could think of. Gordon's face always seemed to have a proud look to it, but as Rebecca looked even deeper to the little creases in his expression, from his proud, but gentle smile to his ever-gazing eyes upon her beautiful form, she could see the very dignity, devotion and love he would always provide for her, and her only.

Gordon and Rebecca continued to stare and smile at each other with every passing moment. They felt as though they wanted to say something gentle and loving to the other, but with every minute that ticked by, the ongoing silence seemed to feel more intriguing and meaningful than any words they could come up with. And so, both express engines slowly felt the need to say something slowly diminish as they let the heartfelt and very peaceful silence continue.

After about fifteen minutes of serene, peaceful silence, Rebecca looked to Gordon again just in time to see his eyes widen a little. He looked up to the ever-numerous stars in the sky, then to his Golden Queen. He had conjured up a little plan, and Rebecca began to wonder what he could be thinking. Her eyes began to glimmer and twinkle gently in the starlight as she watched Gordon look to his left. James, Nia, Percy and Emily were all sound asleep, perfectly still and peaceful.

It was then that Gordon decided to make his move. He looked back to Rebecca and gave a single wink. Then he slowly and quietly huffed out of his berth and onto the turntable. Rebecca watched as he very quietly turned right around until he was facing her. When the turntable stopped, Rebecca felt her heart flutter just a little. Then Gordon slowly came toward the love of his life right until their buffers softly touched. This made them both feel a little wave of warmth flow through both their boilers. Then they looked up again into each other's eyes.

Gordon seemed to be staring right into the very centre of Rebecca's lovely eyes, just as Thomas and Emily would stare together whenever they shared evenings of complete silence. Gordon could very slightly see the reflections of the brighter stars in the sky glisten so gently in Rebecca's eyes, and her smile was so peaceful and happy as she felt such safety and frivolity in the gentle, protective hold of her Big G.

Then Rebecca slowly found herself looking right into Gordon's eyes, right to the very centre. She too could see little flickers of starlight in his eyes and as she looked closer to how he looked, his smile became very deep, but very sacred too. They weren't quite yet sure as to why they didn't feel any need to speak, but as the silence continued onward minute by minutes, they both felt their hearts beating gently and warmly together as they slowly buffered a little closer, right until their noses touched together.

To this, Gordon and Rebecca took a deep, silent breath together, then sighed very quietly, maintain their heartfelt smiles to each other, until Gordon glanced to the other engines once more, then gave one little nod to Rebecca. She began to wonder what Gordon had in mind...then he very slowly reversed back to the turntable and turned to the Main Line. He reversed off and watched as Rebecca's smile grew a little. The turntable lined up to her again and she turned to the Mainland too, buffering up to Gordon again. Then the two express engines gently set off down the line together for a silent and truly peaceful, stirring night together.

The stars continued to glimmer overhead with the thin crescent moon. Gordon and Rebecca rolled along slowly buffer to buffer as they could feel a lingering sense of peace and assurance between each other. As they slowly passed through Knapford Station and beyond, heading further down the line, they both wondered if they could say anything at all, but under such effective, peaceful silence, they soon shut out any inkling of thought to utter a single word. Tonight, silence was all they needed.

As they came alongside the road and a large open field, Gordon and Rebecca steadily began to realize there was the open and silent air beyond the sheds waiting just for them. Only a few minutes later, both engines looked up to the sky together and felt their hearts stir a little more as they went slower and slower, right until they stopped together beside the vast green field. Compared to their previous powerful times under the stars together, tonight was a night just to silently appreciate everything around them. The sky was full of countless stars and the field was full of beauty of the peaceful, serene night as far as Gordon and Rebecca could see in all directions.

They both looked to the big open field with a quiet sigh to each other. Although the crescent moon didn't provide much lunar light, all the stars seemed to give off a small glint of light. Enough for Gordon and Rebecca to feel a deep sense of serenity to each other as they felt their buffers pressing closer and closer together until they just heard a little click together as their buffers were completely housed inward to each other. Then they looked up into each other's eyes, leaning even closer and watching as they both glimmered so gently in the stars all around them through the sky, until both their faces touched together, sending a warm and gentle caress to both their boilers. Life could be very extraordinary with whatever came for any engines. But to Gordon and Rebecca, it didn't matter if they couldn't find any words to say. The silence they kept feeling with every passing moment somehow felt so much more meaningful and serene than any words could ever put together.

Then in that moment, Gordon and Rebecca slowly began to pick up on what sounds they could hear around them. They didn't notice it before, but now their ears could picked up what else was out in the night. There were many crickets out in the open night air, chirping away in all directions. With every cricket chirp they heard together, Gordon and Rebecca felt their minds focusing on each other and the crickets for about ten minutes. Then it felt as though their minds turned off and they just kept lingering and remaining silent there together with the crickets chirping away all around them.

Then Gordon's view turned back to Rebecca as he saw her eyes beginning to close. She held her gaze upon Gordon until her eyes closed all the way...then Gordon's heart rippled as he saw Rebecca's lips began to narrow and pucker very softly as she leaned in closer toward Gordon, waiting for her lips to touch his. Gordon knew just what to do, and without a word, he followed suit right with Rebecca.

And so it began. Gordon and Rebecca's lips gently touched together and began to kiss and hold onto each other at a gentle, yet steady pace. In the silent serenity they had both been basking in so far, their kiss felt most immensely safe and peaceful as they slowly leaned left and right together, brushing each other's cheeks together as they kissed just a little deeper and felt their faces just beginning to blush a little red. But neither of them felt any overpowering sense of lust or temptation. Tonight was one of the more quiet and heartfelt times where joy and love were all that mattered.

After about ten minutes, their lips softly came apart as they caught their breath and let the red in their cheeks slowly fade away. Then Gordon decided to give Rebecca a few silent nurtures. He buffered right up and began kissing her warm cheek wherever he could, making sure he didn't proceed too strongly for the silent stirrings they continued to feel. Rebecca blushed and whimpered ever-so quietly as her lips curled further upward and her eyes slowly shut as she felt her boiler tingle gently with a sense of bashfulness and joy as Gordon gently kissed her other cheek and continued to make her whimper and chortle very quietly for another five minutes more.

Then Gordon gently let go of her cheeks and reached for her adorable little nose, giving it such a gentle, light kiss, which made Rebecca lean upward in response and titter very quietly as she drew a little smile with her perfectly white teeth. When Gordon let her nose go, he then withdrew and let her rest as she took a few little breaths and relaxed again. She found herself truly enjoying this little new experience with Gordon. Compared to many other nights they shared together, they had never felt what it was like to spend a night in silence and they were both rather happy and content with how it was making them feel.

Then, just as Gordon saw Rebecca begin to narrow her eyes with a smooth, but truly loving expression...they both heard an owl hooting in the sky overhead. They both looked up and were very sure they could see its silhouette against the starlight glide overhead and into the darkness. That was the one little nurture of perfection that neither engine knew they needed to make this night of silent satisfaction even better.

Gordon watched as Rebecca's eyes glimmered softly in the starlight. Then she giggled and tittered bashfully before she swooned smoothly and began to purr. Her eyes softly closed and her lips puckered again as she came closer...right until her soft, fluffy little lips ever-so gently pressed to Gordon's cheek. Then she slowly and happily began kissing his cheek wherever she pleased, turning just a little red as she held back another bashful giggle. Gordon felt his boiler bubble with fervor as he sighed deeply to how soft, warm and gentle Rebecca's lips felt tonight. With every moment he felt her lips touch his face again and softly kiss up, down and along his cheeks, he felt himself melting more and more into the spell of satisfaction and gratitude that he felt now for the gentle reward Rebecca was giving him for being such a loyal figure of love to her.

Rebecca felt her heart jiggling and pulsing with such a warm feeling inside her as she softly made her way to Gordon's other cheek and very softly kissed and tugged on it, making Gordon start to blush himself and hum lowly with most dignified satisfaction now. But as these little nurtures carried on through the following moments, there were still no words to be uttered between either of the express engines. All they could hear now were the chirping crickets in the field, the gentle and peaceful whimpering and humming to each other and the beating of their warm and true hearts only for each other.

About ten minutes later, Rebecca gave Gordon one more steady kiss on his cheek before she let go and let him rest for a few moments and let the red fade from his face. Then just before they began their final approach for the night together, they heard it again. Another owl hoot echoed through the sky above them and that was all they needed to push everything to silent perfection between them.

They softly leaned in until their faces touched together, sending a little wave of warmth through their boilers...then their lips came together again and started kissing gently, but steadily and repeatedly over the next few minutes that followed. Gordon and Rebecca hummed very quietly to each other as they felt themselves slipping deeper and deeper into the darkness and serenity of the nighttime atmosphere all around them. Their lips softly and persistently moved and writhed together, deepening their kisses further and making both their faces blush once more as they felt each other's hearts tingling and beating with such warmth and surety for one another until their lips gently began to loosen on each other and their kisses began to slow down and proceed more and more gently. Their eyes opened and they cast such a smile to each other as they slowly let go of each other's lips and exchanged a little sigh of content and shimmering satisfaction for all that they had felt together tonight.

They continued to idle and hold each other close under the glittering stars and crescent moon for several more minutes of silence to count...until at last, Gordon and Rebecca looked to each other and decided it was due time to return to Tidmouth Sheds and go to bed. They knew to themselves and each other that they could have talked. They could even laugh out loud. But they were both shadows as they huffed on their way back to Tidmouth Sheds, smiling continuously to each other for all they had done tonight.

Eventually, when they returned to Tidmouth Sheds, they saw that James, Nia, Percy and Emily were still all asleep, clearly showing that none of them had woken up and wondered where the two express engines had been all this time. Gordon smiled and watched as Rebecca gently backed up to the turntable again then turned her way to her berth and slowly backed inside, with her eyes glimmering so gently in the starlight. She had truly loved this little night out with her Big G. Gordon then turned right around and backed his way in beside her, looking to her once more. Rebecca looked back and just smiled to Gordon before she gave him a little wink, tittered once more, then yawned and fell sound asleep with a gentle, comfy sigh.

For a few moments more, Gordon continued to look at Rebecca as she settled deeper into her realm of sleep, with her lips moving ever-so slightly to how she breathed and uttered little hums in her sleep. For Gordon, this had been quite an intriguing little evening for him to spend with his Golden Queen. He had to admit that he truly loved this night too. Neither of them had yet shared a silent wave of time like this, and it was rather new to both of them. They both had to agree that as gentle and peaceful as it was, they had never known what complete silence could bring, without the need for any words.

Soon enough, Gordon found himself wavering off to sleep as he gave his sleeping queen a little smile of silent assurance, then settled down and fell asleep too with nothing for him or Rebecca to fear. And so ended their first ever night to be shared in serene and sacred silence with no words to be said. It was indeed special and truly special to both of them, and they were quite inclined to share this little tale with Thomas once he returned from India with his own tales to tell in due course. And in the midst of the intriguing silence Gordon and Rebecca had gently flourished in tonight, if there was any statement that could be made, they both already knew it in the deepest realms of their minds. O, the Satisfaction.

Another silent story after so long, this time with Gordon and Rebecca. Not really much to say for this one, but I can say that the next story is definitely going to be quite an interesting story that will lead into "Emily's Best Friend", so look forward to that. Until then, tell us what you thought of this story and as always, stay safe.
