The Rumbling
Eren collapsed all of the three walls surrounding the civilization of Paradis, unleashing millions of Collossal Titans that previously rested within these broken walls for a hundred years over.
Eren, in his extremely massive Founding Titan body, along with these Collossal Titans that he had even towered over, begun moving forward to cross the island of Paradis to the outside world.
The process of crossing over Paradis was not easy. The Wall Titans had to unintentionally destroy some of the towns and homes belonging to the citizens of the island, displacing them and even many of which were killed as the result of being crushed by either the footstomps of these titans or the falling debrises from buildings that were being trampled over by the titans.
The Wall Titans as well as Eren himself finally exited the island after a day of struggles, preparing to eliminate everyone on the mainland, along with the rest of the world.
The Yeagerists and their supporters celebrated joyfully as the war now turned into their favours. While some were also initially saddened and angered as their families were killed during the start of the Rumbling, they eventually came into acceptance of their own losses as they realized that sacrifices had to be made to fully ensure the future of Paradis.
Meanwhile the volunteers were deeply in shock and in disbelief over this incident. Their main goal to have their leader Zeke to extract the power of the Founder in order to sterilize all Eldians hugely backfired as Eren himself was the one to have managed in gaining full control of the Founder to activate the Rumbling. The Yeagerists, at this moment led by Floch Forster, ordered the military the search and arrest of all Anti-Marleyan Volunteers and the remaining Marleyan soldiers shortly after the Survey Corps and the other Paradisan military branches had exterminated all of the pure titans summoned by the Beast's scream in Shinagisha District. This caused many to flee into hiding within the island, while many others, including the Volunteers' de-facto leader, Yelena, had also helplessly surrendered themselves to the Yeagerists.
A few days later, the arrests upon most of those Volunteers and Marleyan soldiers who were in hiding went smoothly as the Yeagerists, with the help of the local populance who were loyal to both the faction and Eren Yeager's will, scooped out its members doors by doors. Dozens of them were imprisoned as POWs, some of which were also subjected to tortures within their cells by the Yeagerists-- men were constantly beaten up, and women being raped by the prison guards. The execution on the top-ranking members of the Volunteers soon took place in the middle of the City Hall of the capital which was organized by Floch himself with the assistance of Jean Kristein. Thousands of crowds surrounding the area watched cheerfully with loud applause covering the whole background as they excitedly awaited for the execution upon their enemies to be made.
"All people of Paradis! These are the people who had pretended to help us in fighting against all our enemies beyond this island, but had actually tried to destroy our race by ending our ability to reproduce. They should be greatly humiliated as their plans failed miserably for our savior, Eren Yeager, to come moving forward to crush everything these people held dearly!"
The crowds cheered even louder in support for Floch's speech. Jean lowered his head slightly and bit his lower lips in guilt as he tightened his right grip on his pistol.
Skipping forward over some parts as the manga reader already knew how this scene were played out. Jean, as ordered by Floch, pointed his gun and shot every Volunteers on stage in the head. The execution went out with a bang and all of the audiences cheered on top of their lungs.
"Yeah, you fucking pigs! That is what you all get for trying to mess with us!"
"Soon your whole families will join you in the heaven once the Rumbling ends!"
Jean trembled, he lowered his gun shakily and took a few steps back. Floch noticed and placed his hand onto his shoulder, reassuring him, "Jean, you did well. You saved this island."
Jean was too shakened up to respond to Floch. His eyes still directed toward those bodies that belonged to each person he had killed just seconds ago. The sudden feeling of despair overwhelmed him, for the sins he had committed earlier that put him to deep remorse.
Magath, Pieck, Reiner, Gabi and Falco were the only Marleyans left on the island without getting caught by the Yeagerists as they were now under the safe hands of Levi-Hange's squad. The Marleyans pleaded the Survey Corps to help them in stopping the Rumbling, but unfortunately Mikasa, Armin, and even Jean along with Connie thought that it was the 'right' thing to do if it meant that Paradis would survive foreign invasion and continued thriving-- it's not like they have any choice anyway other than destroying every civilization beyond the island, for the sake of their own nation. The world wanted them dead, and their homes destroyed. Eren did what he could just to prevent all of these from happening even if he were to sacrifice the rest of humanity. The world gave them no choice, hence the result.
Hange initially went along with the Marleyans' wishes in stopping Eren and his titans. They begged their squad member profusely in assisting them to do so. And when they refused again, they started a big argument among themselves, and soon Jean grew too impatient that he yelled at Hange like a mad dog barking at any seemingly hostile stranger approaching it.
"IF THE RUMBLING HAPPENS, THE WORLD DIES AND WE LIVE ON! OTHERWISE WE WOULD BE FUCKING FINISHED AS WE ALL SEE OURSEVES BURNING IN HELL FROM THE BOMBS AND SHELLS ALL OUR ENEMIES FROM THE OUTSIDE DROP ONTO US, DO YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND THAT, HANGE-SAN???!!!"
Hange went dead silent along with the squad in the room. Jean took in realization that he had went too far against his respected superior. Gritting his teeth along with a groan, he turned away and left the room with his hands covering his ears. Only Mikasa, Armin and Connie remained. Mikasa uttered an apology to Hange, as she slowly to begin sobbing. Armin tried to comfort her while Connie then left the room in sadness.
Hange later approached the Marleyans in their resting room. Magath and Reiner quickly stood up and rushed toward her as Magath asked, "So, did you get to convince them?"
Hange tried to not express any word or emotion, but her eyes were avoiding him, letting the Marleyans to easily know that she did not manage to convince her former subordinates. Reiner looked shocked while Magath groaned angrily as he walked back to his bed.
Reiner kneeled down and stared down to the ground hopelessly. The kids along with Pieck were very sadly disappointed. Their cousins, siblings, parents and grandparents would be dead in a few days as the Rumbling went on.
Magath punched the wall, and rebuked Hange, "You Eldians are truly the devils of all Earth. To think that you would actually go this far to destroy all humanity just for your people's own selfishness, you guys are no better than a piece of crap and deserve to just burn in hell!"
Little did he know, he and his people along with the rest of the entire world were also responsible for this never ending cycle of hatred to go on. They should have never poke the island in the first place, and they especially should not have declare war to invade the island in the FIRST PLACE. Such hypocripsy and irony at its finest and clearest image.
Hange just smiled a bit at his hateful comment. They tried to not let it bother them, yet it was incredibly hard to ignore.
The End of the Rumbling
A week later, Eren returned to Paradis all alone with his whole body naked. His loyal Yeagerists were already waiting for him at the border as they greeted him with heartwarming smiles. The female members within the group were embarrassed, yet maintained eye contacts at that one person they hugely admired. Floch approached him head on first and presented Eren with a full set of clothing just as he did days earlier, remarking, "Get dressed up, our devil. We can't let the other people seeing you in this shape."
Eren gave him a empty gaze, and just took them as he put his clothes on. Without a word, he walked passed them as he entered the territory of Shiganisha.
People gathered on the sides of the roads on the streets as they cheered for him as loud as they could.
"Our savior!"
"You showed it, Yeager-san! You saved Paradis from the threat of the world!"
"You are truly the hope and light for all of us, Eren Yeager!"
Shut up... shut up...Eren wanted to ignore all those sounds directed at him. He hated being called a 'hero' or 'savior' by his people. He was a monster who wiped out all of the humanity off the face of Earth, saved for the Paradisans. He did the unthinkable, and he truly hated himself in every way imaginable.
Jean, Connie, Hange, Levi, Armin and Mikasa stood among the crowds watching Eren making his way there. They did not feel happy for his return, nor did they feel angry for what he did to the world. It was just... nothing.
"All of you, dedicate your hearts and soul for our savior here! Shinzou wo sasageyo!"
"Shinzou wo sasageyo!"
Why..."Shinzou wo sasageyo!"
Stop it..."SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO!"Please...
In the safehouse hidden within the woods of the jungle, Pieck cooked meals while Falco and Gabi along with Reiner waited on the dining table. Meanwhile Magath merely drank alcohol and smoked in the backyard.
They didn't share any word whatsoever. Just quietly minding their own in an idle. However the awkward silence were soon broken when Gabi first spoke, "So, Eren Yeager is coming back... today?"
Reiner gasped, with Pieck and Falco looking at her. Gabi took back her words and apologized, "I-I am terribly sorry! I... I shouldn't have said that... right?!"
Things went quiet again. Gabi nervously fidgeted, and Falco gazed at her with sad expression.
"As he has returned, it means... that our families there... are already done for."
The kids looked back at Reiner, seeing that he was nearing his brink of breaking down.
"But even if we all agreed to go and stop Eren... I am certain that we would all just be crushed like ants considering... how terrifying powerful he is now... W-we simply have no choice..."
Reiner planted his face with his left palm and sobbed. Gabi, who was the nearest to him, tried to console him but she froze in place, and held her hand back as she gritted her teeth and stared down the floor. Pieck could only watch as she cooked, not knowing what to do with everyone's emotions in this moment.
At night, Hange and her squad along with Levi came back and greeted Magath who was still sitting on the backyard.
"Greetings, Magath-taicho. Have you eaten just yet?" Hange greeted. Magath glared at them and continued smoking, ignoring them.
"Oi, old jerk. Freaking listen when somebody is talking to you."
Again, he ignored Levi.
"Hm, so be it."
"Well, let us head inside. See what Pieck-chan got for us-"
Hange's words were cut shortly as the group heard a loud bang coming from within the house. Magath, along with Hange's squad rushed in and then entered one of the bedrooms. To their horror, they saw Reiner's upper head completely blown off, leaving his blooded lower jaw exposed. Bloods spilled all over the floor and window nearby, with a loaded rifle on the floor.
"REINER!!!" Jean and Connie rushed toward his body, with Jean holding him by his shoulder.
"Rei...ner..." Connie cracked, as he began tearing up.
"Goddamn... Goddammit!"
Just as the group were about to mourn for his death, smoke suddenly emerged out of his decapitated head, signalling his self-regeneration.
"Reiner?" Jean uttered his name in confusion. Bloods around them began to disappear mysteriously, much to their shock.
"Wait, what is happenin-"
"Oi, look!" Connie shouted for attention, and they noticed tissues building up on Reiner's blown off head.
"Wait, does that mean Reiner is... healing?" Armin questioned. Footsteps came from behind them, and as they all looked back, to their surprise, they saw Eren in full figure. His expression gone completely blank, his eyes even more dead than how it appeared before.
"Eren?!" Mikasa gasped.
"He is not healing himself. I made him heal himself."
