Hello everyone! So, I know everyone is asking this question: which version of Gen 7 am I using? The answer? Both! So, I liked certain parts of Sun and Moon, and I liked certain parts of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. So, I'm going to use both parts I like. For example, certain Totem Pokemon might be changed. Same goes for story beats. Anyways, enough talk! Let's begin!
Professor Kukui was never one to cry.
Everyone knew him as the guy who was almost always smiling and if he wasn't, then he was laughing. After all, he had a great job, a great wife, everyone loved him, so what could he have to cry about?
It all came down to the idea of a family.
With their energy, Kukui and his wife, fellow Professor Burnet, both agreed that they wanted a family. But then the doctor hit them with the news.
Burnet was infertile.
For what would be the first time in his life, Kukui's smile left his face and he cried, while his wife openly sobbed onto his shoulder. To be robbed of a dream by a stroke of bad luck. Kukui did his best to stay strong, but everyone could tell that he was just as broken as his wife. At a loss, the couple decided to return to Melemele Island.
It was there where Kukui would cry again.
Two girls, presumably sisters, were unconscious by the water. One was maybe around five and had her arms protectively wrapped around the other, who appeared to be around two. Moving quickly, the two professors got the girls away from the water, drying them off and moving them inside Kukui's lab on the beach. Thankfully, neither of them had actually been drowning and woke up shortly after.
Emma and Kitty.
The older one did most of the talking while the little one just nodded or chimed in when she felt she was needed. Then again, it wasn't like Kukui or Burnet could get much out of them. All they seemed to remember was their names, the fact that they were sisters, and a few other minor details. The girls fell asleep soon after.
"So, Burnet, I was thinking," Kukui admitted as he gently rubbed Emma's hair. "We want kids, they need parents. So whatta ya say we take them in?"
"Kukui…" Burnet trailed off. She wanted to keep the girls, she really did. But was it right? "We don't know where these girls came from."
"Yeah, but neither do they!" Kukui pointed out with a laugh. When he saw his wife still unsure, he changed tone. "Here, how about a compromise? We look after them for now, and if anyone comes for them, we'll give them back. If no one does, then they're ours!"
"...Alright," Burnet conceded. She unconsciously rubbed Kitty's back, causing the little girl to snuggle into her. She smiled and looked over at her husband, who was crying as Emma did the same to him. She really, really hoped that no one showed up looking for the girls.
Why are these first chapters always so sappy? Oh yeah, because happy adoptions are beyond cute. Anyways, next time, the girls play with Hau! See you then!
