Adrien clenched his fists around the steering wheel of his car as his phone buzzed over and over again. The Bluetooth to the dashboard showed multiple texts from Nathalie, Gorilla, and his father. He didn't want to talk to them. Why didn't they get that?
"Hey, you ok?" Marinette asked from the passenger seat, putting her hand on his thigh.
Adrien took a deep breath. He wanted to scream, but he didn't want to wake the sleeping Plagg and Tikki in the backseat.
"No," He finally replied. "I just want them to leave me alone."
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about what happened?" His fiancée asked, squeezing his thigh in support. "You don't have to if you don't want to, but it might help."
He tried to take another deep breath but he just ended up getting angrier and slamming his hand on the wheel.
"Pull over, let me drive a while," Marinette said in the calm, yet commanding voice she used when she spoke to people as Ladybug after an Akuma attack.
Adrien pulled over without a fight. They switched places, then continued driving.
"Now, do you want to tell me about it?" Marinette asked, one hand on the wheel and the other holding his.
"I don't want to upset you, bugaboo," Adrien said after a long pause.
"Don't worry about that, kitty. Just tell me what happened," she insisted with a smile, momentarily looking away from the road to lock eyes with him.
He took a deep breath. "Remember last night?"
She giggled. "Yes, I remember last night. It's the night you asked me to marry you."
Adrien smiled at her little giggle. He could never get tired of her laugh.
"Remember how my phone was blowing up and I had to leave your house?" He asked. They had planned on going out to dinner, then he would sleep over after. But, he had to leave for reasons he didn't know at the time.
"Yeah," she said.
"My dad kept calling me right up until I got home. He was waiting for me in the foyer. He was so angry," He wiped a lone tear off his cheek, careful not to meet Marinette's eyes. "He told me that nineteen was too young to get engaged and that it was a stain on the Agreste name." He felt her hand clench in his on the console. "He said I couldn't marry you." Uncontrollable tears started running down his face. He could tell she was crying, too.
"Then what happened?" She asked.
"I ran out and spent the night on some rooftop." He explained.
"Why didn't you come to my house?" Marinette asked.
"I just... I needed to be alone, I guess." He said.
She pulled over again and put her hand under his chin, turning his head so he would look at her. "I will always be here for you, kitty, no matter what. I love you."
"I love you, too." He smiled sadly, then pulled her in for a kiss. "I don't care what my father says."
"Do you want to keep going?" She asked.
"Yes," he said, and she pulled back onto the road.
