Prologue
[Feudal Era]
It glimmered brilliantly underneath the harsh rays of sunlight. The pink jewel she'd endured hell just to put back together was finally whole once more, but the memories of all that she had endured were still only a moment away. Though it was nearly weightless in her hand, the air that came from it rested on her shoulders like a massive burden.
Her time here was running out, she knew that. There was no pain, only numbness. Her eyelids started to feel heavy as her strength finally failed her, and she dropped to her knees as the well came into her line of sight. She couldn't go on, not anymore.
Her vacant hand lifted, cold fingers falling to rest against her chest as she waited to feel her own heartbeat. There was nothing for her to feel, and she gave in. She closed her eyes and cradled the jewel with both hands as she held it to her chest.
She knew she had no say, not anymore.
As she sat there, pink sparkle flies began to form around her as her body slowly deteriorated. There was no pain, and peace embraced her.
[Modern Time; 2015]
She sat up in a room she didn't recognize at first. A frown appeared on her face as she pulled her legs up underneath her body some, cautious blue eyes scanning over the room in order to take in as much detail that she could.
Where was she?
Light peeked in through semi-pulled curtains, and she glanced at the window with curious eyes. She couldn't remember the last time she'd seen the natural light. Although her cautions remained, she pushed herself out of bed. On light feet, she slowly teetered over to the window. Once she got there, she set a small hand on the glass and peered outside. Amazement flashed through her eyes as she felt as though she was overlooking the world.
Wherever she was, she was in a high-up room in a very large building. It overlooked many of the buildings around it. Even with the crowded scenery, she thought it looked beautiful all the same.
She could see the warm, orange-hued glow from the setting sun in the distance. It was sinking further down on the horizon, and she found herself entranced by it.
"... pretty," she breathed quietly. A small smile appeared on her face as she continued to observe the sight that seemed to be brand new to her. When the door behind her so suddenly opened, she jumped and whirled around. There was no place for her to physically hide- not that that differed any from where she had spent the majority of her life, so she shrunk back against the window. It was sturdy behind her, and escaping wasn't possible.
The figure who'd appeared rose a hand in a peaceful fashion upon spotting her actions. She eyed him cautiously, mapping out the details of his face. He was tall and muscular, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He didn't feel as if he wanted to hurt her, but she refused to let her caution fade.
"W-What do you want with me?" she finally blurted out. "Why am I here?"
"It's okay," he responded. "No one wants to hurt you. You're safe," he said. "My name is Steve Rogers," he continued. "What's your name?" Unlike the twins that had shown up during their attack on the HYDRA base, they hadn't been able to find any information on the girl that had been found within the base. If there was any, then something was keeping it from being found.
She glared at him, but she couldn't sense any sort of lie coming from him. "Kagome," she said after a pause. He nodded and offered her a smile. He came closer to her, and she flinched out of reflex as he knelt to be able to give her the high ground.
"How long did they keep you there?" he asked, and Kagome's eyes widened.
"For as long as I can remember, I've always been there... I don't remember anything else," she said softly. Kagome frowned and glanced down. "Why am I here?"
Why was he talking to her?
"You don't remember what happened before you fell asleep?" Steve asked, and Kagome spared him a confused look before shaking her head.
She remembered blank, gray walls that had become a constant for her. She remembered people scrambling and running, panicking that a group called the Avengers had showed up. She remembered…
"Pietro! Wanda!" Kagome abruptly exclaimed and she shook her head. "I have to let them know I'm okay. They'll be worried if they can't find me!"
"It'll be alright," he assured calmly. "You asked for help, do you remember that?"
Kagome froze for a second, and a small frown contorted her expression. With those words came a memory previously forgotten. She was quiet, but she nodded her head slowly. "I remember…"
Hidden in a corner, a barrier wrapped around her to keep herself protected in the only way she could. She felt someone coming closer to her, and she pressed herself further into her corner in hopes she might be overlooked by whatever might come. For the most part, things indoors had settled down, and most, if not all, of the men and women within the base had retreated elsewhere.
She'd done what the twins had told her to do- find a spot out of the way and take shelter. They'd find her when things came to a close, so all she had to do was wait it out.
The figure continued down the hall, coming to a halt as it seemed she was discovered in her hiding spot.
She remembered the aura of that person, and she knew it matched to the man in front of her. She could remember that it bore no intent to harm her, just like it did now. Something about him felt comforting- something she so rarely felt in that place- and she reached out without realizing what she'd done at first.
She'd asked for him to help her and her friends. He'd tried to take her and move her to safety, but a few people from the base still remained. When they tried to attack him, she reacted without hesitation. She'd protected him with one of her barriers and she had helped him.
However, since she rarely ever used her barrier for anyone other than herself, it ended up exhausting her very quickly. She'd fallen unconscious. When she woke up, it had been in this room.
Kagome looked at him, still slightly hesitant due to her past of being kept at the HYDRA base. "Thank you for saving me from that place," she spoke softly. "I need to find my friends, though. They're my family and they must be worried to death about me right now." She'd been told to hide and wait, and she knew that they'd come back to find her.
She didn't want them to wrongly blame the one who had helped her as someone who'd taken her.
"They need to know that you won't hurt me."
Steve nodded. "We'll make that clear when we find them again," he said. "Until then, why don't you stay here?"
"Where is here?" she asked, still unfamiliar with where she'd been brought.
"You're at the Avengers Compound."
Kagome was hesitant for a second before she nodded. "... okay," she whispered softly. "If you can help my friends, then I'll stay." She'd put her trust in him. She'd trust herself to trust his genuine, kind aura towards her.
Steve nodded, a small smile on his face as he looked at her. When she closed her eyes and seemed to close herself off some, he was confused. A few second later, she opened her eyes and glanced at the door.
"Then, there must be more of you here?" she said, her words phrased as a question. "The rest of the Avengers."
Steve nodded at her question. "Yeah," he said. "We didn't want to overwhelm you so it was decided that I would come speak to you when it was found that you finally woke up."
Because she had reacted and trusted him back at the base, it was decided that he'd be the one to greet her. He'd been the only one she saw before she passed out, so he'd possibly be the only one she had any remembrance of.
"Are you ready to meet them?"
She was struck with more hesitance at his question. He offered her his hand, and she slowly moved. With a bit of pushing herself, she let her hand fall to rest in his larger one. It was warm compared to her slightly colder appendage. He stood up and the pair made for the door.
She stuck close to him as they went, shielding herself against him as he led her somewhere else.
C.R: This'll probably be my last new story for now, other than things like oneshots.
Like always, chapters will get longer as the story progresses. This starts at AoU. what became of Kagome during the Feudal Era will come up eventually. (after the jewel becomes prevalent again.) Demon allies will appear again, too.
There's no pairing really planned out for this. Kagome will age as the story progresses through the movies, so she'll be closer to Peter Parker's age group. If I do a pairing, it might be them. I'll also say it now, that Pietro won't die in this. Him and Wanda will see and treat her as if she is their sister.
Kagome will also have a huge preference to Steve because he's the one she's started to connect with. She is still a Miko, and Thor will make that known soon enough.
Anyway, that's it for now. Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!
Bye for now~
