Again and Again

"Lily-flower, will you go out with me?"

For what seemed like the hundredth time (though Lily was pretty sure that it was more than that), James Potter tried to get her to date him. As if! Sure, he was cute, and sometimes his pranks were funny, but mostly they targeted Severus. Severus was Lily's friend, and Lily would never go out with someone who harmed her friend.

"No!" she shouted.

Potter gave her puppy-dog eyes. "Please, Lily-flower?"

"Again, no! And do not call me Lily-flower!"

"But, Lily-flower -"

Lily glared at him, her green eyes flashing murderously, and he quickly shut up.

"No buts." Her voice was deadly calm. "My answer, as always will be no. Get that into your tiny brain, and leave me alone!"

"Will you go out with me, Lily-flower?"

"No!"

Lily was not amused. It was her O.W.L. year, and Potter was trying to get her to go out with him again! She really had no time for this.

"But -"

"No."

"Lily-flower -"

"How many times do I have to tell you no?" Lily shrieked. "My answer will always be no, Potter! Go bother someone else!"

"But -"

"NO!"

"Lily..."

"No, Potter! I don't want to see you!"

"But I thought you might need some comfort after that Snape idiot called you a -"

"Go away, Potter!"

"But I know how to -"

"I don't care what you know!" Lily screamed, her eyes streaming with tears. "Go away, Potter!"

"Lily-flower, I promise that if you go out with me I'll never try to -"

"Potter." She faced him. "I will never, ever, go out with a toerag like you, even if you know all the information in the world! Get that into your thick skull, will you?"

"But -"

"Potter, go away!"

"Lily, will you go out with me?"

Lily swallowed, looking into those hazel eyes that she secretly adored so much. Potter had changed ever since he'd become Head Boy - not that he'd ever stopped pranking people, but he still had started following the rules a bit more, and stopped trying to ask her to go out with him every other minute.

But still...

And he'd also stopped calling her that annoying nickname 'Lily-flower'.

"Yes."
