It had been Paula's night to patrol, luckily with nothing going on, so Giovanni was left at home with the girls. Jade was nodding off on the couch, leaning against her father, as a princess movie played. Artemis and Zatanna bad been put to bed, the baby monitor by Zatara's side just in case.
"Jade, my little darling, would you like a lullaby to send you to sleep?" He asked with a smile as he watched her rub her eyes.
The five year old climbed onto his lap at the invitation. "Yes daddy." She said, gripping his shirt.
Giovanni shifted Jade as he stood, much as his body didn't want him to, and began to gently hum a lullaby with Jade snuggling close to his chest. As Giovanni felt her grip on his shirt begin to slack he looked over to see Paula slipping into the house through a window, smiling as by gods he loved that woman.
Paula walked over and started humming as well, wrapping her arms around Giovanni's waist and trapping Jade between them. The child stood no chance, falling to sleep soon after. Without a word the two took her to her room, which she shared with her sisters, and put her to bed with softly whispered good-nights and cheek kisses, before Paula gave their younger daughters the same treatment.
Giovanni stood silently, watching as Paula lovingly combed her fingers through Artemis' hair before doing the same with their youngest daughter Zatanna. He walked over to her, watching the girls all sleeping over her shoulder in silence.
With that same silence, the two left the girls to sleep and went to their room. Giovanni was getting the bed ready while Paula was in the shower, smiling when he looked at the framed picture of their family on a trip to Italy to visit his parents, picking it up and remembering. For their part, and thankfully, his parents played their surprise at their son marrying and having children without telling them with subtly. They were far more invested in getting to know Paula and spoiling the children than being themselves and making a big deal about it, as Giovanni had assumed that they would.
"You okay love?" Paula was out of the shower, wearing her night gown and having her hair in a ponytail. She was watching him, smiling at her husband.
Giovanni looked over at her, smiling as he put the picture down. "Yeah. Just thinking about the trip down to see my parents. They were so happy to meet you and the girls." Well, that was before Zatanna was born.
Paula nodded, "I remember. Your mother was very excited to have granddaughters." She hugged him around the waist.
Giovanni hummed, turning around to kiss Paula's lips. "So, everything went okay out there?"
Paula nodded, "yes. I was starting to get bored. I'm so happy to be home." She leaned against him, peppering his neck with gentle kisses.
"Let's get to bed." Giovanni said with a smile as he laughed. They eventually went to sleep, after watching a movie.
Paula was awake early in the morning, going to her daughters and checking on them as Giovanni slept. Luckily, they were fine.
"Wanna see daddy." Jade was sitting up in bed.
"In a moment sweetheart." Paula finished with Artemis and then quickly took care of Zatanna before holding them close. "Okay."
They went to Paula and Giovanni's bedroom, said man was drooling in his sleep. "Go get him." She carefully placed Artemis and Zatanna on the bed as Jade climbed up.
Giovanni woke up when he felt the climbing on him, smiling at his daughters and looking at Paula. "Good morning."
Paula laughed. "Good morning, my love." She then crawled back into bed, because time with her family was something she didn't want to miss for the world.
