Summary: In Stephanie Meyer's new book Midnight Sun Edward says Mike Newton's thoughts were inappropriate and bad. Some might argue he was biased because he knew Mike liked Bella but I beg to differ that Mike might not be the good guy he seems to be to Bella. This is Jessica's P.O.V on how Mike really is and why she is the way she is.

It was another boring day at Forks High School. I'd went here my whole life and sometimes I wished that I could move somewhere more exciting and colorful.
But then I would have to leave my Mom. And that wasn't going to happen.
Lauren sat beside me gossiping about some girl I didn't remember but I happily took it as a distraction.
"But she says that he was the one cheating on her. It such a confusion. I mean just break up instead of giving the other another chance, no matter who it was that did it. If they did it once they'd do it again!" Lauren scoffed, "I would even if it was Tyler."
"Yeah, but I mean they could change," I put in.
"Unlikely. If they cheat and then say they changed there's a 99.9999% chance that they just want someone to fall back to," Lauren answered lamely and took a bite out of her apple.
Nicole Casey came to sit down over at our table and said, "Angela and Katie will be here in a minute."
I sighed and looked over at the table at the back of the room where the Cullens sat. I feared them more than anything but damn if Edward weren't the hottest man in the room right now. Sure Mike was alright and all but he barely noticed me. I wondered if Edward would be not quite as scary once I knew him. Well... if I ever met him.
"Who are you both talking about?" Nicole pried as nosy as ever.
Suddenly it hit me! Her name was Ali which was close to Edward's sister's name Alice. I stole a quick glance at their table again and noticed Edward was looking right at me. I turned away bashfully and informed her, "Ali and Kevin."
"Oh isn't that all anyone is talking about today!" Katie exclaimed sitting down at the same time as Angela.
Angela said, "Yeah, um but did you know-"
Katie spoke over Angela, "Chief Swan's daughter Isabella is coming to town later today. The grown-ups haven't told anyone but I heard Dad talking about it with Chief Swan. He's supposed to bring her back from the airport later today and she'll be at school here tomorrow! I'm so happy!"
Angela, looking sad, mumbled about having to use the restroom but none of us were listening because the last new arrival we'd had was the Cullens and they turned out to not like any of us.
"The one he had by his runaway wife?" I shot.
"That's the only one he has," Katie said as an answer.
"She's coming from Phoenix right? Oh how I wish I could live in Phoenix!"
"Yeah. She'll probably be a new addition to the cheerleading club seeing she's probably a sporty, tan, blond."
"Do you think so?"
"Yeah. Either that or Volleyball."
"We haven't had anyone tan here since Valentina Gonzalez and that was just because she's Mexican or Latino or something and she moved shortly after," Lauren put in.
I felt myself shoot out a million and one more questions and pretty soon lunch was over and I'd barely eaten anything. My mind was swirling with the possibility of something new coming into this old town finally after two years. Maybe if I could befriend this typical girl from Phoenix and score her popularity points Mike would like me more.

"Mom! I'm home!" I called as I walked in my overly large house.
"In here Ladybug!" I heard Mom yell from deep in the house. Probably the kitchen.
I hung up my coat and put my shoes in a cubby hole in the shelf by the door. I walked all the way to the back of the house to the kitchen and as I assumed she was cooking something while listening to her Nickelback music. She was listening to one called "Never Again."
"Pulls the trigger fast as she can, never again
Seen it before but not like this
Been there before but not like this
Never before have I ever seen it this bad
She's just a woman, never again"
I remembered that this song was talking about a abusive relationship between the mother and father and I switched the radio off quick. Didn't want to give Mom any ideas.
"Hey I was listening to that!" Mom complained even still smiling, "Anyways I'm cooking a dish of chili and a dish of pasta. Which do you want?"
"Um, pasta I guess. Why'd you cook both?" I asked but I was pretty sure I knew the answer.
"Your Dad asked for both so," she chuckled, "here I am! Anyways how was your day at school? Did you meet the Chief's daughter Isabella Swan? I heard she was coming today. Could you pass the paper towel rolls?"
I passed them and grumbled, "Um, she doesn't start until tomorrow. And you shouldn't have to make a extra dish just because David says."
"It's Dad to you and you know how he is," she sighed and frowned, "How about you go take Sugar and Spice out?"
I rolled my eyes and went to find our German Shepherds.
"Sugar! Spice!" I yelled, "Come here babies!"
Pad-pad-pad!
Sugar appeared. She was a regular looking one but had more brown than black. Spice was a solid black German Shepard.
"Spice! Here baby!"
She still didn't come so I grabbed a piece of paper from my bookbag and rattled it.
Pad-pad-pad!
Spice came running in looking for the treats. He circled around me looking for the food. I smiled. These were my real friends.
