Remember in "TCOT Long – awaited Street Family Reunion" when Calvin said, "Oh, that smile I saw tells me otherwise" when Della tried to dodge Gracie's question "You love him, don't you?" I know that the ending felt rushed but I did it intentionally so I could fit this in so we could have an Uncle/Niece heart – to – heart conversation between Della and her Uncle Calvin.
It was the night after her Aunt, Uncle and cousins had landed in LA and they were hanging around her place when Calvin motioned Della to the balcony.
"Uncle Calvin, is something wrong?" Calvin shook his head,
"I've never seen that look of being in love on your face since before you called off your engagement to Michael." Della looked down; Calvin had a point. She hadn't been that in love since Michael before she found out about how abusive he'd become to her.
"I'm… I don't know what to do, Uncle." Della confessed knowing that her Uncle Calvin and father were safe spaces for her to have these vulnerable conversations.
"…Go on, Della." Calvin encouraged her to continue to speak knowing that her talking issues out with him or her father had helped in the past.
"Perry's… Goodness, he's gentle, kind, the most hardworking man I've known outside of you and Daddy. He makes me smile when nothing seems to go right or even when things are going completely right. He's been in my dreams since I met him. He's such a gentleman, and he makes sure that I get back here safely after long hours. It hurts to breathe at times when he's near. What are you trying to…" The realization suddenly hit her like a freight train,
"…Are you saying? Uncle, no. No, I don't even know if he feels the same way about me." Della sighed as Calvin spoke up,
"Well, why don't you talk with him after we leave and see? From what I could tell today, with how he looks at you. I'm pretty sure he's feeling the same way." Della smiled and hugged Calvin tightly,
"Thank you, Uncle Calvin. Love you." Calvin hugged Della back,
"Love you too, kiddo."
I don't want to include *that* conversation because we ALL know that Perry loves Della with all his heart. I hope y'all enjoy this.
