So that reunion was...it broke my heart. And this was born of that pain. It is a redux of the episode, obviously. It is also inspired heavily by P!nk's But We Lost It (which I obviously do not own, haha). I truly hope you all enjoy it.

I cried
Maybe time isn't on our side
10-13.
Officer down.
Those words had the power to stop anyone in law enforcement in their tracks. It was the first code emblazoned in Olivia Benson's mind when she joined the force. If that code was given, you dropped everything and ran. Someone was in danger, a fellow brother or sister. Seconds were critical and often meant the difference between life and death.
So when Olivia heard those words on the way to the ceremony meant to celebrate her achievements, she did not hesitate to throw her SUV into reverse and redirect her path. She flipped her lights on, the rain drops beating against her windshield as she weaved in and out of the late night traffic.
As her thoughts raced, her phone suddenly lit up with a call from Fin. She hesitated before answering. "Fin."
"Where are you?" The question was one of concern and she could almost picture his face as he asked.
"I'm sorry. Something's come up."
"You're the guest of honor. Everybody's waiting on you. What's going on?"
She huffed a tiny bit. This was definitely more important than some ceremony. "I'm not sure yet. I got a 10-13, a vic near center street. So I'll be there as soon as I can. Thank you." She ended the call without waiting for Fin to respond.
When she finally reached the scene, lights were flashing and EMTs swarmed the area. She jumped out of the SUV, barely remembering to kill the engine. Reaching for her badge, she flashed it as she ducked under the yellow tape.
"Captain Benson, Manhattan SVU. What happened here?" she demanded as some rookie approached her, their expression hard to read.
"Car bomb. They're taking the vic to Mercy. Doesn't look good."
Nodding tightly, Olivia walked closer to the waiting bus. Medics were pushing a stretcher with a broken form on it, covered by a thin blanket. She saw puddles of blood on the ground, staining the blanket, and then…
The way recognition slowly filled her, terror seizing her mind and stealing the breath from her as she broke into a run toward the stretcher.
"Elliot?"
His bloody and bruised face was illuminated by the light cast from the bus, shadows dancing across the face Olivia hadn't laid eyes on in over a decade. Her own voice was hollow to her ears as she pushed closer to the stretcher, closer to him.
"We gotta go!" one medic called out grimly, sending another jolt of fear through Olivia's already battered heart. It was bad. It was really bad.
"Elliot."
Maybe it was a trick of the light, but she swore she saw his eyelids flicker when she called his name. "Elliot, I'm here." She started to climb into the back of the bus with him, but the medics stopped her immediately.
"Sorry, we need room to work!" one shouted, and the doors were slammed in her face.
The sirens began to shriek again as she stared at the closed doors, frozen in place. Elliot was in New York. He was there… Oh, god, the bomb. Time began to speed up as she looked to the smoking remnants of the car, barely even recognizable. The bus pulled away, and Elliot with it.
How was this happening?
So many thoughts were hitting her, demanding her to move, but all she could do was stand there as the smoke burned her lungs.
"Olivia!"
That voice… Recognition and confusion battled in her mind as she turned and saw Kathy Stabler running toward her. Her clothes were smeared with blood-Elliot's blood-and her face was taut with concern and fear. The blond stopped just a foot in front of Olivia, breathless and out of sorts.
Both women were at a loss for words as they took each other in, trying to process what was happening before them.
"Kathy," Olivia finally managed, because she didn't know what else to say. What else could she say? What were they doing in New York? Where had Elliot been all this time? Why hadn't he reached out to her?
Kathy finally took a step toward Olivia, searching the other woman's face frantically.
"They tried to kill him. They tried to kill Elliot."
To Be Continued...
A/N: So there it is. I have no idea how long this story will be, but it will diverge heavily from the actual episode and focus more on Olivia, Kathy, and that unique dynamic they share with Elliot Stabler. Thank you for reading, and please drop a word to let me know your thoughts.
