Chapter 1: Dawn's End
Leah watched from her post as the feeling of euphoria spread through the large collection of leeches on the field. The Italian red eyed ones left in a flurry of dramatic black capes leaving the rest to celebrate the victory. Congratulations and camaraderie took over the grounds. A true pacifist's victory, I suppose, winning a battle with words rather than bloodshed. Hmph. Now let's see what kind of testosterone filled conversation has taken over the pack link.
Congrats baby Alpha! Your imprint is safe from the nastiest group of bloodsuckers. Paul complimented in his own way.
Is that offensive now? Considering your imprint drinks blood? Jared asked curiously. Other voices asked similar questions while some just stuck to congratulations, like my brother.
Congrats again Alpha Jake! I am so happy that we all made it through this one. That Italian group made me worry about our odds. Now we can make peace. I wonder what stories all of those leeches down there have! Seth rambled, as per usual.
Peace would be nice Black. I sent straight to Black. Do you still need us or should we go ahead and stand down?
Thank you brothers and sister for standing with me to protect my imprint. I am glad that this was settled peacefully. You all can stay and get to know these people or you may leave. The choice is yours. Black addressed the group.
Thank the spirits! I need my headspace back. I am done with the testosterone.
Leah, we have talked about this. Sam chided.
What the Hell Sam? Stay out of my head if you don't want to be offended. I thought angrily and snarled at him. I quickly dashed into the forest and grabbed my rucksack. I phased quickly and threw on the dark green summer dress I tossed in here.
I stalked barefoot through the forest back to the sandy shores of La Push. My body relaxed the minute my toes touched the sand. I went past the public beaches and through the private section that was owned by the Quileute Oceanside Resort.
I climbed over the driftwood and made my way to the cliffside wall. I slide against the ledge until I made my way to my special place, my cave. I found this one day after a hike. It is my place of comfort. No one can touch it. Not Sam. Not Emily. No one.
I moved around the cave taking in my sentimental treasures. I keep shells, broken coral, shark teeth, and pictures here. I ran a finger over the picture of Dad, mom, Seth and I. we were all smiling in this picture.
It was taken before everything. Before the sun set on Dad's time here, before my supernatural initiation, before his betrayal.
I grabbed the picture of Sam that I kept here in a broken frame, just like our relationship. I growled and thrust his picture, frame and all into the churning sea below me. I turned back to the picture of my family. Looking at my smiling face, I just wonder. When will I be able to smile like that again without faking it?
Disclaimer:
I do not own Twilight. I own this storyline and all new characters.
I hope you have enjoyed this first chapter. This will build on Leah's character and give her a slow-burn HEA.
Forever & For Always,
