Hello and welcome to the first chapter of this crossover between Naruto and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In this Naruto and his friends will travel to Sunnydale and interact with the characters during the events of BTVS seasons 1-3. Not only that, but Buffy will have a Kekkei Genkai unique to her that allows her to copy other Kekkei Genkai.

This fanfiction was requested by Menatron the Angel of Ideas.

Chapter 1:

It was a day after Naruto returned from his failed mission to bring back Sasuke and Sakura was feeling depressed. At the moment, Naruto was inside a hospital room where his mentor, Kakashi Hatake, had been residing since the Kazekage rescue mission.

"You seem fine," said Tsunade. "Good you're free to leave the hospital today."

"By any chance, this isn't because you want me to hurry up and get my "baggage" out of here, would it," said Kakashi, looking Naruto sleeping on one of the beds, holding a pillow.

"Well yeah, there's that two," Tsunade noted.

"That fool Naruto's been camped out in his hospital room for days just so he can resume training with you the minute you recover," Sakura noted.

"Actually, I was hoping I could take it easy for a bit before getting back into it," Kakashi looked at his Icha Icha books. "But, seeing as though I've run out of reading material anyway, I suppose I might as well start his training again."

"That's the spirit," Tsunade smiled.

"RASEN…!"

Sakura, having had enough of Naruto talking in his sleep, decided to wake Naruto up personally. "HEY YOU IDIOT…! WAKE UP…!"

Naruto woke up with a shock. He then, while holding onto the pillow, looked at Sakura before saying (while still half asleep), "Hey there, Ugly."

Naturally, Sakura wasn't happy. "CHA…! WHAT DID YOU SAY NARUTO…!?"

Naruto realized too late that he was talking to Sakura.

Hours later:

Tsunade was sitting in her office when she suddenly got a message from a messenger raven of all things. Taking the message, the found what appeared to be a message from an old aquatint of hers.

"Lady Tsunade," said Shizune.

"Shizune, gather up Team Kakashi, Team Kurenai, Team Asuma, and Team Guy," said Tsunade. "I have a mission for all of them."

"All four of those teams," Shizune questioned before she put all the pieces together. "Wait a minute, could it be Giles?"

"Yes, and if his message is accurate, then the slayer has arrived and she'll need all the help she can get," said Tsunade.

Elsewhere in the village, Asuma Sarutobi was getting flowers from the Yamanaka flower shop.

"Who are they for," Ino teased.

"Oh uh, no one in particular," Asuma replied embarrassed. "Well, see you later."

As Asuma tried to leave in a hurry, Ino called out, "Say hi to Kurenai Sensei for me…!"

At that moment, Asuma froze, wondering how Ino knew.

Just then, Shikamaru and Choji arrived.

"Oh look there he is," said Choji.

"Sorry to interrupt you on your way to see Kurenai Sensei," said Shikamaru.

Asuma gasped upon finding out that the rest of his students knew as well. "How do you guys know… where I'm…"

"Come on, don't try to hide it," said Shikamaru. "Everyone…"

"Shikamaru," Choji interrupted.

"Oh yeah, right," Shikamaru remembered what they were there for. "We just received word the Fifth Hokage wants the whole Team Asuma, Choji, Ino, you and me, to assemble on the double."

"She does," Asuma asked, snapping out of his shock.

Ino emerged from the shop, taking off her apron, and asked, "Really, she wants to see all of us from the original Squad 10?"

"That's right," Shikamaru confirmed.

Asuma then took out a cigarette before saying, "Let's go then."

At the training ground, Naruto was slowly but surely cutting through leaf after leaf using only his wind base chakra. He learned earlier that his chakra nature was wind and had received advice from Asuma on how to implement it properly. Alongside him were Kakashi and Yamato, who were there not only to help him with his training, but also to stop him should he turn into the Nine-Tails. So far, Naruto was making a lot of progress as he used his Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu to reduce the time of his training by who knows what number.

"Yeah," all the Naruto clones and the original cheered.

In the trees nearby, Naruto's new team member and Sasuke's replacement, Sai, was watching Naruto's progress while also drawing in his sketch book. As he drew, Sakura showed up right next to him, her face looking like there was a serious situation.

"Alright, I nailed it," Naruto cheered with excitement. "I really am awesome, aren't I? At this rate, I'll have this jutsu down in no time!"

"If it's coming quickly, it's because of this new training method," said Kakashi, "Which, let us not forget, was my idea."

"Oh and by the way, I'd like to think that I helped out a little bit Kakashi," Yamato complained, feeling fatigue from constant use of his Wood Style.

Moments later, Naruto dispelled the Shadow Clones and accumulated all of their experience as a result. "Okay, whatever. Can we just get on with the next exercise now?"

But just as Naruto said that, he collapsed and Kakashi had to step in and catch him.

"Of course, none of it could be done if you weren't "you", Naruto," Kakashi complemented.

"Naruto," Sakura called out as she and Sai ran up to their teammate.

"Yamato, we'll take a short break until he recovers," Kakashi informed Yamato.

"Understood," Yamato acknowledged.

"Is Naruto alright," Sakura asked.

"A little rest and he should be fine," Kakashi reassured Sakura. "This kid is really something else."

Suddenly Sakura got serious and said, "Sensei…"

"What is it Sakura," said Kakashi, knowing from his student's tone that she was serious.

"Lady Tsunade needs us," Sakura informed Kakashi. "She needs everyone, Naruto, Sai, Captain Yamato, you, and me."

Kakashi was confused, but knew that Lady Tsunade meant business if she wanted to see the entire Team Kakashi.

At the Hokage Tower, Team Kakashi and Team Asuma, along with Team Kurenai and Team Guy, had gathered together for what was assumed to be a big mission. By now, Naruto had regained consciousness and was wondering arguably more than the others as to what this mission was all about.

"Alright everyone listen up," said Tsunade. "We received a message from a man named Rupert Giles, and old acquaintance of mine."

"Is this another one of your "old friend favor" missions, Grandma Tsunade, because I've got some training to take care of," Naruto complained.

Sakura then grabbed Naruto's ear and told him, "Knock it off, Naruto, and let her talk!"

"I'm sorry, what were you saying," Naruto frantically said, not wanting to feel Sakura's wrath.

"As I was saying, Rupert Giles is an old acquaintance of mine and I received a message from him that the next Vampire Slayer has been identified," Tsunade explained.

"V-Vampires," Naruto gasped. "No-No way, no way…! You can count me out of this one, Granny…!"

"You're not scared, are you," Sakura teased.

"N-No," Naruto denied. "I was… just… worried about you and the others…!"

"Please, Naruto, there's no such things as vampires," Sakura shook it off.

"That's exactly what I used to think," said Tsunade, getting everyone's attention again.

"Wait a minute, Lady Tsunade," said Ino, feeling worried. "Are you telling us that vampires are real?"

"I'm afraid so," Tsunade confirmed. "But once in a generation, there arises a certain individual destined to fend off these creatures known as the Slayer. As of right now, that slayer is a high school student named Buffy Summers."

"Okay, Granny," said Naruto, not buying any of this, "You trying to tell us that there's an individual who can slay vampires and that it's a teenager like us…? I'm sorry but I'm not buying any of this."

"Says the kid who has the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed away inside him," Tsunade pointed out, already aware that the others already knew.

"What are we supposed to do," Kiba questioned.

"The Slayer cannot handle this by herself and she needs to learn Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu skills and abilities in order to handle the vampires," Tsunade informed them. "Normally I would send in only Jonin-level ninja to go in and help out, but since the Akatsuki are still out there trying to hunt down Jinchuriki, I decided to keep most of my Jonin here to protect the village and have you 17 go instead. Besides, Naruto, you have experience changing a girl's way of thinking, I'm proof of that and so is Koyuki."

"Nice excuse," Shizune thought. "The real reason was so that you can keep Naruto safe while we handle the Akatsuki."

"Okay, but Lady Tsunade, I don't get why you have to send all four of our teams on this one mission," said Ino. "Doesn't this seem a bit overkill?"

"Probably," said Tsunade. "But as I mentioned before, we're not dealing with humans, we're dealing with vampires."

"Oh what a drag, just give us the details on what we have to do once we get there, will ya," Shikamaru complained.

Tsunade then gave them the information. "Buffy Summers lives in a town known as Sunnydale. Unfortunately, it's in another dimension so you can't simply walk or sail there. Giles and I have prepared a special Teleportation Ninjutsu that will take you there."

Sometime later, Teams Kakashi, Kurenai, Asuma, and Guy had all gathered at the front gate where Tsunade was preparing to use her Teleportation Ninjutsu to get the Four Squads to Sunnydale. Every member had gathered up some supplies, including their ninja tools and their food for their time in this town.

"Alright everyone listen up," Tsunade announced. "Once Giles and I activate the this Teleportation Ninjutsu, you will be able to pass through the gate and enter Sunnydale."

"So basically we just pass through the gates and enter the town," Kiba questioned.

"That's right," Tsunade confirmed. "However, once you enter, the jutsu will be undone and you won't be able to get back until it's activated again."

"In other words, we'll be trapped in this other dimension for who knows how long until the portal is reopened," Shikamaru correctly deduced. "What a drag."

"Knock it off, Shikamaru," Ino elbowed her teammate.

Tsunade then activated the jutsu and the portal opened up and one by one, the teams entered the portal and traveled to Sunnydale. Unbeknownst to everyone though, Zetsu had been watching the whole thing and quickly reported to the rest of the Akatsuki. At the same time, a snake, who had also been watching, reported this to Orochimaru.

At their base, the Akatsuki were informed about what had happened and were intrigued.

"Sunnydale," said Pain. "Clearly we will have to make a trip into this other dimension as well if we are to capture Naruto and obtain the Nine-Tails."

"Obviously," Dedara agreed. "Although, we will need to make haste now that Sasori is no longer with us."

"Is that sorrow I'm hearing from you Dedara," Kisame teased.

"Hardly," Dedara answered. "It's just that one of Sasori's puppets had a scroll that would allow one to pass between dimensions, almost like a summoning jutsu. But only he knew which puppet had it."

Itachi, unconvinced, searched through Dedara's memories using his Sharingan and found out what he needed to know. "It's inside one of your clay creations."

"Huh, how did you know that," Dedara questioned before realizing how. "Damn you and that Sharingan, Itachi…!"

"Enough," said Konan. "Now show us the scroll."

At one of Orochimaru's hideouts, Sasuke was training to defeat Itachi when Kabuto entered with some news. "Sorry for interrupting, but I just received some news from one of my spy snakes."

"What would that be Kabuto," Orochimaru questioned.

Kabuto told Orochimaru and Sasuke all about Sunnydale.

"Why would I want to waste my time going to some town where a vampire slayer will be learning ninjutsu from Naruto," Sasuke questioned, not seeing any point. "I have to become stronger, strong enough to defeat Itachi and avenge my clan."

But Kabuto wasn't finished. "Keep in mind Sasuke, Itachi and the rest of the Akatsuki are after Naruto to obtain the Nine-Tails. If they want to do that, they'll have to follow him into this other dimension. Therefore, if you want to kill Itachi, you should go into this dimension as well. Then again, you could always stay here and train and wait until Itachi comes back, but chances are, they may not come back for a while, if at all."

Sasuke thought about it for a moment, but then realized that there was that slim chance that Itachi might be killed before he ever got his chance. He couldn't let that happen, so he agreed to go to Sunnydale.

"Now then Kabuto, do still have that second scroll from your time as Sasori's spy," Orochimaru questioned.

"As a matter of fact, yes," Kabuto took out the scroll.

And that was chapter 1 of The Slayer's Weird Backup. As you can see, I reused the events from the episodes Nightmare, Wind, and Writhe of Naruto Shippuden to give all four teams a chance to assemble. Also, Tsunade and Shizune know Giles. I'll explain that in later chapters.

For the next chapter, the group will arrive at Sunnydale and meet Buffy and the group during the events of season 1. Stay Tuned.

Chapter 2: Welcome to Sunnydale
