Chapter 1: She's A Funny Girl, That Usagi
Once upon a time, a young prince was selfish and entitled but extremely handsome with short lavender hair, striking blue eyes, and a muscular build. On a stormy night, a ragged beggar woman came up to his castle; he turned her away because he was repulsed by her appearance. The woman gave him one more chance to change his mind; she offered a single rose in exchange for shelter from the storm. Once again, the prince turned her away. Then the woman shed her beggar appearance and turned into a beautiful enchantress; she had long raven hair and purple-blue eyes the prince asked for forgiveness from the woman. The Enchantress laid a curse on the castle and the people inside. "You have no love in your heart." She said, "Only when you find someone to love, and love you in return will the curse be broken."
The rose that she left was indeed magic; it would bloom and wilt every year until the prince's twenty-first year. When the last petal falls, the curse cannot be reversed. The prince looked into a mirror; staring back at him was a hideous beast. He had hair covering every part of the body, ape-like hands, monkey tail, horns, sharp teeth, and he kept his striking blue eyes. He broke the mirror and destroyed his room in anger. After that the people in the village slowly forgot about the castle that laid deep within the woods, and the cursed prince inside.
-A Few Years Later-
A young girl with long blonde hair pulled up into two pigtails with buns on top and beautiful blue eyes walked out her door and sighed, "The same stuff every day…" She said to herself as she entered the town. She walked to the local bookstore while everyone was whispering about her. The bell chimed above the door.
"Ah, Usagi!" The bookstore owner said with a smile, "How are you?"
She smiled, "I am good; I came to return the book I borrowed." Usagi handed it over.
"Pick any book you like." He told her.
Usagi nodded and picked a book off the shelf, "I'll take this one."
"That one? But you've read it twice." The owner laughed.
"I know, but it's my favorite!" Usagi said as she smiled and held the book tightly to her chest.
The owner smiled, "Keep it."
Usagi's eyes widened, "What?"
"Keep it; it's yours." Usagi thanked him so many times as she left.
While she was going back to her house, the most handsome man in the village spotted her, "Look at her, Andrew. Usagi is the most beautiful girl in town. That makes her the best, and don't I deserve the best?" Mamoru asked as he looked at himself in a pot and fixed his black hair.
"You do, but…" Andrew stammered.
As Mamoru and Andrew walked through the busy street to get to Usagi, three girls swooned over him. "Isn't he so handsome!" The blonde one asked.
"Yes, he is!" The brunette one agreed.
"I wish he wanted me!" The blue-haired one stated.
Mamoru caught up to Usagi, "Hello, Usagi."
"Hello, Mamoru." She said as she continued walking.
He stepped in front of her, "Hold on, Usagi. Why don't you and I have a date tonight?"
"Mamoru, I can't. I have to help my father." She stated, trying to get away from him.
"Your father? That crazy man?" Mamoru laughed.
"My father is not crazy!" Usagi yelled. Before anyone could say anything, they heard a loud boom coming from Usagi's house. Usagi ran as fast as she could to check on her father. "Daddy?"
She saw her father, a tall man with spikey black hair and black eyes, come out of a room coughing. "Just a little mishap; how was town, sweetie?" He said as he went back to work on his latest invention.
"It was okay….Daddy, do you think I'm odd?"
Goku looked up at his daughter, "My daughter, odd?" He asked, confused, "Why would you say that?"
"The people in town…"
Goku hugged Usagi tightly, "You are perfect the way you are; if they can't see that, then they don't deserve you."
She smiled as she helped her father complete his invention. It started to work, "Yes!" They exclaimed. Goku was getting ready to leave the town to take his invention to show others. Usagi waved good-bye to him. When he left, she went back inside.
Outside her house, Mamoru and Andrew watched her, "Alright, Andrew, when Usagi and I come out, you will?"
"Startup the band!" Behind the two men was a priest and a whole wedding set up.
Mamoru walked up to the door and knocked. Usagi put her book down and looked through a machine to see who was outside. When she saw Mamoru, she sighed. She opened the door, "Mamoru, what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"
Mamoru walked into the house; he sat down at a table and kicked off his muddy boots. "Imagine it, Usagi, my latest kill on the fire, kids running around and playing with the dogs. And my little wife rubbing my feet." He said. "Do you know who that wife will be?"
Usagi removed the book which Mamoru had his feet on, "No, I don't."
"You, Usagi."
Usagi rolled her eyes, "We will have about 8 or 9."
"Dogs?" Usagi questioned.
"No, kids. Strapping young boys, like me." Mamoru stood up and walked towards Usagi. She backed up to the door.
Mamoru put his hands on the door, pinning Usagi to the door. Her hand looked for the doorknob, when it hit the knob she opened the door. This caused Mamoru to fall out the door and into a mud pit. Once he was out of her house, she shut the door and waited until she could not hear anything outside.
-Meanwhile-
"I think I took a wrong turn…" Goku said aloud as he looked at his map. He stopped his horse, Nimbus, as he came to a fork in the path. He looked down the two paths, one path was more traveled and lighter, the other was dark and didn't look it was used in years. "Maybe that way is a shortcut."
Goku and Nimbus, after some hesitation, went down the dark path. As the two made it further down the path, Goku heard wolves howling. Nimbus bucked up and threw Goku off and ran away. Goku got up and started to run further down the path he came across a gate and it opened. Once he was through the gate, he shut it in time for the wolves to hit the gate. Goku turned away from the gate and saw a dark, intimidating castle, as he walked closer a rainstorm started. He knocked on the door, "Hello?" He shouted over the storm as the door slowly creaked opened. "I just want to seek shelter from the storm." Goku walked into the castle slowly, he picked up a candelabra and looked around.
"We should send him away before the master finds him." He heard a voice say.
"Ah, but look he's chilled to the bone." Another voice said.
Goku noticed that the voices were close to him but the only things around were a clock and candelabra. He picked up the clock and looked all over it, he heard a laugh from the clock, "Was it you that talked?"
"Yes, come and sit by the fire." The candelabra said.
"Goten that it not a good idea, what if the master finds out?" The clock whispered in a scared tone.
Goten waved one of his metal arms, "You worry too much, Artemis, come follow me." Goku followed Goten to a comfy armchair in front of a roaring fire. Goku took a seat as a blanket was put over him.
Then he saw a tea pot come out, "Hello, I'm Luna. Tea?" She asked as she poured some tea into a cup.
"Thank you." Goku picked up the small cup and took a sip. He heard a giggle, he looked at the cup.
"That tickled." The cup said.
"Bulla, stop that." Luna scolded.
A huge roar was heard from the door, "Why is he here?" A deep voice roared out.
"M-Master…" Artemis stuttered, "I told them."
"Shut up." The voice said once again. Then Goku got picked up and saw a huge beast dragging him up into the dark halls of the castle.
