Yesterday was the festival of colors and I thought wouldn't it be fun to write a little story on the rookies enjoying the color run.

On one normal day in Konoha...
"Hey! Sasuke!! Sakura Chan!! Kakashi sensei!!!" Naruto called, hurrying up to his teammates
"What is it Naruto? You look excited" Kakashi sensei asked
"Hehe I found something cool"
"Something cool? What is it?" Sakura asked eagerly
"This" Naruto said, holding up a poster in front of their faces
" 'The famous color run fest starts tomorrow. Join us to enjoy the beauty of colors. Timings are 10a.m. to 1p.m.'...Oh I see, the color run"
"What's a color run sensei?" Sakura asked
"The color run is an enjoyable event in which there are a lot of colors and..hmm... everyone participating is an artist and the canvas at the same time" he replied
"You mean we paint each other?" Sakura asked looking a little disgusted.
"Doesn't that sound like fun Sakura chan?" asked Naruto
"Not at all, dummy. The colors could be bad for the skin"
"Oh about that Sakura, everyone paints each other with herbal powder colors...mostly" Kakashi sensei explained, murmuring the last part
"Oh that's good then. Any participation fee or anything"
"No it's free of cost"
"That sounds good. I'll come. What about you Sasuke?" Sakura asked hopefully.
"Same"
"And you Kakashi Sensei?"
"I think I'll pass"
"Oh okay. I'll go and invite others too" said Naruto
"Okay"
"The color run? What's that?" Shikamaru asked
"It's an event where everyone has fun playing with colors"
"Like a coloring contest?"
"No you color each other, and it's a simple event. Not a contest"
"Cool, I'll come"
"Will we get anything to eat?"asked Choji
"Hmm...lemme check. It says snacks will be provided"
"I'll come too then"
"Ask Ino if she wants to join too okay?" said Naruto
"Don't worry, we'll get her to join somehow"
"Okay, I'm counting on you"
"The color run event? I'll tell Kiba about it" said Kiba's older sister
"Can you tell him to ask Shino to join us too?" asked Naruto
"Sure"
"T.the c.color run?" Hinata asked
"Lee and Tenten were saying something about it too" Neji said
"Will you both come?" asked Naruto
"I.I'm not s.sure" Hinata said, looking at her father hopefully
"Fine, you can go Hinata. Just remember to dry yourself before entering the home and then head straight to take a bath. Try to avoid touching stuff before you take a bath. And also don't forget to keep a pair of clothes in the bathroom before going out to play. You wouldn't want to touch your wardrobe after you come back. Same goes for you Neji. Naruto, you should also remember this." Hiashi said to the pair of genins
"Arigato Otou san" Hinata said happily
"Otou san can I go too?" Hanabi asked, emerging from the room
"No Hanabi, otherwise you'll come back home crying that the color went in your mouth and ears"
"I won't"
"You can go when you are a little older"
"Fine"
"I'll ask Lee and Tenten to join in you place"
"I c.can ask m.my teammates if t.they w.would like to j.join"
"Arigato, Hinata, Neji. See you tomorrow."
The Next Day
"Hey, everyone!! Here!!" Naruto called.
"Whoa Naruto, you look extremely colorful" Kiba said
"Now you look too" said Naruto dumping colors on top Kiba's head.
"Why you–" Kiba said and ran at Naruto, grabbing a fistful of colored powder. The others ran after them, excited
"Hey Hinata! Why are you just standing there? Come join us" The girls said, and dragged the lavender eyed girl with them, painting her cheeks with the colored powder.
The boys on the other hand were totally having a different level of fun. Naruto and Sasuke had dumped a whole packet of colors on Shikamaru's head, Kiba was throwing water balloons at Shino and Lee was doing the same to Neji but adding his own little training twist in it. Choji was having a great time enjoying the snacks.
Hinata looked at Naruto with a'I want to do that too' look. The girls noticed
"Go on Hinata, go and color Naruto. Don't be shy. This is no day to be shy" Tenten winked
"Ya Hinata, It's really easy. Look" said Ino as she grabbed a fistful of color and ran towards Choji, throwing it at his face. "See it's easy"
"H.huh? M.me? No I c.cant do that"
"You can, just take a deep breath and go for it" Sakura said, putting a hand on Hinata's shoulder.
"O.okay. I'll do my best" Hinata said and she went and grabbed a packet of color and went towards Naruto.
"A.ano, N.naruto kun?"
"Oh Hinata, yeah what is...Why are you all clean like that? That's not the point of the color run."
"Oh umm no―" before she could finish, Naruto grabbed a fistful of color and threw it at her face. In response, Hinata dumped the packet of color on Naruto's head and face . The boys just stared at her in shock while the girls giggled in the corner.
"S.sorry, I d.didn't mean to do t.that" she apologised quickly.
"Hah, you're not getting away so easily, Hinata"
"Huh?"
Naruto took a water balloon and threw it at her. She screamed and ducked. Then she looked up at Naruto said "You missed" sticking her tongue out.
"This time, I won't." He said and hugged Hinata and popped the water balloon on her back "See, I didn't miss"
"I'll get you for that, Naruto kun" she said and disappeared in the crowd. Moments later, she came back, her hands deep pink and she attacked Naruto's face, making it the same color as her hands
"I have an edge here, this color here is not so temporary. You'll have difficulties getting it off you. It might stay for a few days" she said.
"What?! But Kakashi sensei said that we will have only herbal colors to play with, he didn't say anything about permanent colors." said Sakura in disbelief.
"I didn't know anything about it too until a few minutes ago" said Hinata.
"Where did you get this permanent one from?" asked Naruto
"It's kept there, next to the packets of blue colors" she said pointing towards the direction of the blue stack.
"Alright, anyone coming with me to get some?" said Naruto
"Yup" said Kiba, Lee and Shikamaru and they went after Naruto.
"I better stay away from them now" murmured Neji
"Ya me too" Sasuke agreed.
"You can't be like that Neji nii san" smiled Hinata and rubbed her hands against Neji's face, making it shocking pink like her hands. Next she turned towards Sasuke, and smiled mischievously (a non Hinata smile)
"Don't you dare, Hyuga" Sasuke warned
"Oh I will" she replied and did the same to Sasuke
Everyone, even the girls, just stared at Hinata in shock.
"Hey, I never knew Hinata was this bold" Sakura said in disbelief
"Don't worry Sakura you're not the only one" said Ino
Just then the boys came back and jumped at everyone else, painting their faces, hands, ears a shocking pink. Everyone laughed and then joined in.
Hinata, on the other hand, was staring at a bucket full of water. Sasuke walked in her direction and grabbed her hand, startling her.
"Sasuke kun, wha―"
"Don't just stand there thinking about it, I'll give you a hand" he said and lifted the bucket "Hold it from the other side will you?" he said
"Okay"
They walked upto Naruto and Sasuke yelled
"Oye Usuratonkachi, duck, quick"
Naruto ducked and both, Sasuke and Hinata drained the bucket of colored water on him.
"What the hell?!" screamed Naruto and ran after them with a pipe, drenching them all.
They all spent a quality time eating, playing and laughing.
After reaching home each of them spent hours in the bathroom trying to get the colors off themselves. But even though they had to scrub themselves raw with a loofah to get the color off, they all had one thing on their mind
'That was fun. I'm gonna play like this next year too'
