Chapter 1: A Gift From The Skies
On a very far planet called Planet Vegeta, the Saiyans were only a couple of minutes away from their doom. Frieza, the evil emperor of the universe decided to wipe out the Saiyan race once and for all. The Saiyans were in a state of shock and panic. Some of them prepared to fight while others had already given up. They knew how powerful Frieza was and that there was no hope left for them. However, one couple had other plans in mind. They were going to save their baby.
"Hurry up, there's not much time left! My scouter is picking up Frieza's energy signature and it's rising!" The man shouted as he and another woman were running as fast as they can. The man was carrying a space pod while the woman was carrying her baby, who was sleeping in her arms.
One thing noticeable about the woman, were the tears in her eyes that only showed despair and sadness. Meanwhile, the man just looked very angry and nervous, but his face also showed another hidden emotion…
… Regret.
The Saiyan family managed to get away from the city and all the panic that's happening there. The young man put down the Saiyan pod and opened its door, looking at his mate who carried their sleeping son.
Frieza will never see the Saiyan pod from here. The father thought, glad he made it in time.
"Can't one of us at least go with him?" The mother asked with visible sadness in her voice.
"I'm afraid not… Since he was born earlier than he was supposed to, the Saiyan pod was stacked with more medical equipment. We won't be able to fit in there. It was also the only pod left with enough fuel, there's no other choice. He has to survive no matter the cost." The father answered. He knew that unlike the rest of the Saiyans, his mate was kind-hearted and emotional.
It was pretty rare for a Saiyan to have or express emotions and if he's being honest, he never really understood her. But he had to admit that today made him understand more about sentiments and how his mate usually feels. As soon as Bardock said that Frieza was going to attack them, he and his mate ran as fast as they can to the nursery, grabbed their child and a Saiyan pod. He was the first thing that came to his mind, he wanted his son to be safe and away from here.
"But wherever he ends up, he'll still be in danger! Please, there must be another way! He's the weakest Saiyan in History! His power level is only 0.5!" The mother begged and cried as she tightened her grip on her son, disturbing the boy's sleep and waking him up.
The father let out a sigh, before gazing at the sky. "Look up there. The battle has already begun… We're almost out of time, we have to say goodbye…" The father calmly said as he raised his arms to take the baby from her.
The mother looked at him with an uneasy expression. She was still debating whether this is the right choice or not.
"I'm going to send him to Earth. It's a planet inhabited by species called humans. Even if our son is the weakest Saiyan in history, I doubt they'll pose a problem to him. So, don't worry, he'll survive." The father exclaimed, before the mother gave him their baby.
The father placed his son in the Saiyan pod and once he left his parents' embrace, he started to cry. His parents gazed at him for one last time. The boy was only 8 months, making him much smaller than normal babies. When he was born, the doctors thought that he won't live for another week, but he managed to surpass their expectations and clung to life. At this moment, the father already knew that his child was a fighter, a warrior, a survivor and no matter what life disses at him, he'll always fight through it.
"Why? Why is this happening?" The mother rhetorically asked as she continued to cry.
Her son was just born last month, yet now they had to part ways with him. There was so much she wanted to tell him, so much things she wanted to teach him, but alas, fate had other plans for him.
"It can't be helped… We, Saiyans always conquered and destroyed other planets. We were once the predators, but our mistakes have caught to us and now we're the prey." The father answered as he now understood the feelings of the other planets' inhabitants. It was justice for the other planets they conquered and the people they killed.
"But it's not his fault! He never did anything wrong!" His mother shouted in frustration.
"I know, but we did. It's not fair, but he'll be paying a price too. But a price that's much lighter than ours. Now, hand me the recording device." He asked his wife. She complied and gave him the device, which he then packed in the ship. With the preparations done, it was time to say good bye.
The Saiyan pod door's closed and both parents kept their eyes on him from the window. Soon enough, the engines started to work and the ship was about to fly in any moment now.
"Aikon, my son. Don't repeat the same mistakes your old man and ancestors committed, or else it will come to bite you back. Grow stronger, but use your powers when necessary…" The father began.
"Preferably to protect others and yourself. Make sure you eat well, a Saiyan needs a lot of food to live. Get some sleep and I know it may be inevitable but never look at a full moon. You don't want to cause much trouble to the Earthlings. I don't know if you'll take after me or your father, but I hope that you'll grow up to be a kind person who helps those in need. And if you ever find a mate, I hope you'll treat her with love…" The mother continued.
"Well, his hair is already black, so I guess he'll look like me. However, like your mother said, I hope you turn out like her. But make sure to have your old man's Saiyan pride! That's one thing you can never forget!" He proudly exclaimed.
The engine then made a loud sound, meaning that the ship was about to take off now. The two parents looked at each other, before looking at Aikon again for the last time.
"In the end, we hope that you can find happiness." They both said before the ship finally started to levitate off the ground. Both parents looked at it with a mix of pride and sadness as the Saiyan pod flew and soon enough, it was no longer visible in the skies.
The mother hugged her mate and buried her face in his chest. She sobbed and finally let out the cry she kept inside until now. The father gave her a sympathetic look and pulled her in a hug with one arm.
I really became soft, haven't I? He said in his mind. He had no doubt that sending his son to another planet was the right decision and it was one of the few choices he wasn't going to ever regret.
"I believe in him." He softly said, making his wife look at him. She was shocked to see him… smiling.
"What do you mean?" She asked with a puzzled look.
"I believe that Aikon will survive and that he's destined for greatness. You ought to be too… I can't believe I'm going to say this, but it's our job as parents to believe in our child…" He replied, as his mate stared at him in awe. She never thought that her husband would ever say something like that.
Both parents then turned around to look at Frieza's incoming Supernova. It was about to collide with their planet in any second now. The mother looked at her mate for one last time and nodded.
"Yes, I will believe in our child."
Once she finished her sentence, the Supernova collided with their planet and explosions and battle cries could be heard in the distant void of outer space.
Despite the fact that this Supernova ended up killing many of his soldiers, Frieza had no concern whatsoever. To him, they were just worthless pawns.
And now, all over the planet, yellow cracks were spread throughout as the splash damage of the Supernova took effect. Seeing this, Frieza began to laugh maniacally until the planet was utterly destroyed by the explosion along with every Saiyan present. Nothing remained of the once home of the Saiyan Race as it was completely destroyed.
The explosion was too powerful and unfortunately for Aikon, his Saiyan pod didn't make it far enough to completely evade it.
"Warning! Warning! Detecting abnormal waves signature!" Came in the artificial voice of the computer while inside the ship began to flash red.
For some unknown reasons, the ship appeared to be struggling to move forward. It was as if something was pulling it backwards.
Aikon didn't understand any of this, but the loud voice and the way the ship was violently shaking were enough to bother him and make him cry.
"Warning! Warning! Detecting a dimensional rift!" Came in the voice of the ship once again, as a rift suddenly opened and began to pull the ship with a stronger force than before. At this moment, the ship started to shake more violently than before and the alarm was set off in the Saiyan pod, which only made Aikon cry more loudly. In the end, despite the Saiyan pod's struggle, it got sucked in the rift and as soon as it did, the rift closed.
In Another Galaxy:
A rift suddenly opened, however this time, instead of sucking things inside, it threw up the Saiyan pod, before quickly closing again.
The Saiyan pod drifted in space, the boosters and engines stopped working from the moment it got pulled in the rift.
"Calculating coordinates… Calculating coordinates…" The computer's voice repeated. It was trying to relocate Earth again since it was and still its original destination. "Planet Earth has been located… Estimated travel time… One month." The Saiyan pod's engines began to work again, followed by its boosters and soon enough it sped towards the planet, called Earth.
After a few moments, having regained his comfort, Aikon finally slept again. Unbeknown to him though, he was no longer going to the Earth of his dimension because he was no longer in his own dimension. The Earth he was going to now, is also a much harsher place than the other one.
Indeed, just as his father thought, fate had other plans for Aikon. He was destined to walk a different path from his ancestors and anybody else. A path filled with despair, hatred and defeats, but also happiness, joy, love and many victories until he finally reaches the end of his goal!
One Month Later:
Shiganshina District is a town located on the south edge of Wall Maria. The district is built within an outcrop of Wall Maria and since Shiganshina is located to the south, Titans usually came to this district's walls in a pointless attempt to consume humans who are protected by the 50 meters walls. Other than that, it is a fairly boring place with nothing exciting happening there. In fact, the only thing that gathers people's attention is the departure and return of the Survey Corps, who most of the time if not all, comes back with many casualties and corps and also crushed by their defeat. And defeat was the only notion they knew from the Titans.
Despite this gloomy fact, most of the citizens were used to it by now and it didn't bother them as much as before. In fact, they saw their attempts as pointless and that they should just give up. Without even a single victory in the records, people just grew tired and accepted life in the Walls. Still, they loathed the fact that they had to pay taxes for the military who never accomplished anything. In their eyes, the Military Police were bastards hiding in Wall Sina to protect themselves and live a comfortable life. The Garrison were good for nothing who just filled their bellies from people's taxes and drank all day. It couldn't be helped though, considering the fact that they were charged to protect the people who lived inside the Walls. But ultimately the Walls did a better job so there was no need for them. And then finally, there was the Survey Corps, their mission is to kill all the Titans and if possible, discover their secret, so that humanity could finally live outside the Walls once again.
However, the main focus today was on the Jaeger family. The new married couple, Grisha Jaeger and Carla Jaeger were expecting their first born pretty soon. In fact, they were expecting him at any moment.
"Honey, are you sure enough that it's okay for me to go out today and research the medicinal herbs I have to use to create a new medicine?" Grisha asked his wife. He was afraid to leave his wife all alone while she's pregnant.
"It's okay, Darling, I-I'll be fine. I can wait for you but your new patient needs his medicine to recover, right?" She replied to which Grisha nodded. He was honestly happy to have such an understanding and supportive wife.
"Alright, I'll be back as soon as I can." He said before kissing her forehead. "I love you." He smiled.
"I love you too." Carla shot back with her own smile as she watched her husband exit the house.
Grisha put on his hat as he closed the door behind him, before he found the horse carriage that was waiting for him and got in. After a few minutes, he finally got into Wall Maria, but he knew that it was still a long ride until he arrives to the forest that wasn't so far away from Chlorba.
It took hours to finally arrive but he did. He got out of the carriage and told the coachman to wait for him until he comes back. He had to walk for a few minutes though before reaching his destination.
Grisha then proceeded to explore the different plants and herbs around, but he also couldn't help but admire the wildlife around him. After all, he grew up in a city and Shiganshina didn't have much to offer too. However, he quickly snapped out of his gaze.
I'm not here today for sightseeing, I have to quickly finish my research and gather the medicinal herbs to go back to Carla as fast as possible. He mentally thought.
An hour later, Grisha was finally done as he just picked the last plant he needed. It was finally time to go back home. However, Grisha was startled once he heard the sound of something crashing nearby, that was quickly proceeded by the sound of birds' cries, who were getting off the trees and flying away.
"No way… Is that a Titan? It can't be!" He exclaimed as his initial panic didn't subside yet. "An attack from Marley maybe?" He questioned. "No, why would they attack a remote place like this to begin with."
With each passing second, he was growing more and more curious until he finally decided to check out what really crashed in the forest. He carefully approached the source of the crash, making sure not to be hasty or reckless.
"If it is a Titan, I'll just transform and kill it. However, if it's not then my scientific mind tells me that I'm about to witness something out of this world." He murmured to himself and he couldn't be anymore right.
As soon as the dust cleared and he was close enough to see what crashed in the forest, he saw something he never thought it existed in the first place. It was an alien spaceship, the Saiyan pod.
"Wh-What is this thing?" He questioned as he carefully took a few steps towards the Saiyan pod. But his approach was quickly halted when the door of the Saiyan pod opened. "Something is inside." He deduced as his eyes were locked at what could possibly be inside that ship.
"The trip has been completed… You have successfully arrived to Earth." Came in the voice of the computer, before it shut down and the door fully opened.
Grisha was still wondering what could be inside that thing until he heard the cry of a baby. "Wait, there's a baby in that thing?" He asked himself.
After hearing the baby's cries, he let his guard down and went to take a closer look.
"I can't believe this, there's actually a baby inside that thing." Grisha pointed out as he lifted little Aikon, who immediately stopped crying and just observed the human with curiosity. "It appears that he's a new born…" Grisha said as he too observed the boy until he noticed the monkey tail. "Is that a real tail? A monkey tail?" He questioned once again in shock and confuision before he grabbed it, which in turn made Aikon cry much louder than before.
Grisha's eyes widened in surprise. It was a real tail, like an actual tail. "Shh, I'm sorry little one. I didn't mean to upset you. I ju-" Grisha began but Aikon quickly retaliated and pulled the older man's hair. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Alright, I said that I'm sorry." The older man responded and Aikon stopped before he gave a chuckle. "Well, I guess we're even now." Grisha added and chuckled too.
Grisha kept holding Aikon but he also started to observe the ship and check it out. With his superior intellect, it didn't take him long to figure out that the baby wasn't from this planet.
"I wonder, where did you come from?" He asked himself as he knew that the baby wouldn't know the answer.
He tried to check what's inside and tried to use the computer but didn't understand the alien language, yet alone the device itself. He kept looking around until he found the recording device. Of course, he didn't know what it was and took the liberty in pushing some buttons until a holographic screen appeared, showing a young man and a young woman.
"If you're not Aikon and you're a person who found him. Then I wish to tell you a few things quickly." Came in the voice of the man. "If it isn't too hard for you, please take care of our son. Our planet is going to get destroyed in a few minutes and we're trying our best to get him out of here before it happens." The man added before he went off to grab the Saiyan pod.
"All we ask you, is to raise our baby as one of your own. We just want him to survive and live in peace. And if it isn't too much, we Saiyans eat a bit more than other species, otherwise we could suffer from malnutrition or worse, so please make sure he eats until he's full." Came in the voice of the mother, who was practically begging whoever found her baby to take care well of him. Grisha also noted that her eyes were teary and was ready to cry in any second.
"I think if I'm correct, Earthlings don't have tails like us and it's honestly better if you cut it off." The voice of the father came back.
He and his wife looked at each other with an uneasy look, debating whether to say more about the Saiyan tail or not. They were afraid that whoever who'll find Aikon might refuse to take care of him, if he knew about the Great Ape transformation.
"We don't have much time to explain but if he looks at a full moon while he has his tail, something bad will happen. So, for your safety, you have to cut off the tail." The father added and Grisha just looked confused.
Why should I cut off his tail? If something bad might happen then all I have to do is to never let him look at a full moon. After all, I don't think that there's something more dangerous than a Titan, right? Grisha thought but his scientific mind quickly kicked in. No, these people are definitely not humans and they know better. And they have a point, a boy with a tail would raise a lot of questions and I can't afford to draw attention to myself. Very well then.
"I think there isn't anything left to say other than thank you for taking care of our kid. So, with that being said, his mother and I have a few words for him and we would like to umm… have our privacy with him. If you know what I mean." The father exclaimed and Grisha understood. Not knowing which one was the turn off button, Grisha clicked on a few buttons until the recording device stopped playing and turned off before he put it in his pocket.
Grisha then sat down and let out a sight. He didn't know what to do. On one hand he wanted to adopt and raise little Aikon, but on the other hand his parents wanted him to live a peaceful life and Grisha knew well that Paradis wasn't a safe and peaceful place. Honestly, he felt the bad for the baby. If only he had landed in another country that isn't directly involved in the war between Eldians and Marleyans.
"I guess it's inevitable now. If one thing this means that I have to work harder to save both my people and family." He exclaimed as he stared at Aikon with a gentle smile.
Grisha then grabbed his bag and began to search for something until he found it. It was a pair of suture scissors, one that were normally used in surgeries. He placed the boys on his knees and grabbed Aikon's tail who immediately started to cry again.
"Forgive me little one but I promise that this is for your own good." Grisha said before he cut off Aikon's tail, making the Saiyan baby cry loudly. Grisha winced and had a pained expression on his face. He didn't want to cut Aikon's tail but he knew that Aikon can't walk in Shiganshina District with a tail behind him either. So, the older man just sat there, trying his best to calm down the boy and ease his pain.
After a few minutes, Aikon finally calmed down. Grisha finally let out a sigh of relief and started to think about what he will do from now on.
"Okay, so I cut off his tail like his parents instructed but now what? What was he going to do about the spaceship? If someone sees it, it will only bring trouble." He thought out loudly. Grisha then just kept thinking and thinking until he remembered seeing a cave nearby.
"I'm going to hide his spaceship in that cave." He pointed out and he already knew how he would do that. Knowing that no one should be around here, Grisha carried Aikon and put him back in his Saiyan pod before taking a few steps back. Little Aikon just stared curiously at the older man who then suddenly cut his hand with a knife.
Yellow lightning cracked around Grisha and the rock debris were pushed away by the shockwaves. Then the sound of lightning made itself known before dust filled the area and out of the dust came a 15 meters tall giant. It wasn't just a mindless Titan like any other, it was the Attack Titan, Grisha.
Seeing this Aikon just chuckled and tried to reach the Titan with his little hands. He was interested by what he was seeing. Grisha just shrugged it off and carried the Saiyan pod until he reached the cave and place it down. After hiding it inside the cave, he came out of the nape while the Titan's body just emitted some steam.
"Alright, it seems like no one noticed." Grisha pointed out as he went to grab Aikon, who was still amazed by what he saw. Grisha just chuckled at the boy's innocence before he wrapped him in his jacket and proceeded to head back to the horse carriage. Once he got there, he saw the coachman waiting for him.
"Wait a second? Where did you find that baby?" The coachman asked, clearly surprised.
"I found him in the forest. It seems that he was abandoned so I'm going to adopt him. But if I ever find his parents, I'll give them back their child of course." Grisha responded, not wanting to sound suspicious.
"I see… Explains why it took you so long. Alright, get in, we need to make it before the sun gets down." The coachman said, not bothering to ask any other questions. He didn't care and it wasn't his business.
Jaeger Household:
Grisha had finally returned to his house. It was a long ride as it was night-time now, but Aikon sure made the trip lighter. For some reason, Grisha took a liking to the baby. He was energetic and adorable. Grisha then opened the door but was quite surprised to see his neighbors.
"Wh-What are you guys doing here?" Grisha asked. He didn't know that they had guests today.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Jaeger and excuse us for the intrusion but you see… your wife gave birth to her child today this evening, and we helped her." One of the neighbors said.
Grisha gasped in shock but then he was worried. Was his wife okay? Did everything go well? Many questions came to his mind as he quickly made his way to the bedroom. He opened the door and saw his wife, holding their baby.
"Ca-Carla?" Grisha calls his wife's name, who in turn looked back at him.
"Grisha… you're back and… with a baby too?" She weakly said and chuckled, but she was still wondering why her husband came back with a baby with him.
"Ah right. You see, I found this baby all alone and abandoned in the forest where I was gathering the medicinal herbs. I didn't want to leave him all alone there and decided to take care of him." He explained as he looked at Aikon with a warm smile.
His wife however, was quite surprised once she heard that he was going to adopt the baby. "You could've left him at an… orphanage, so why did you decided to… raise him yourself? Not that I'm against it or anything." She just wanted to understand his reasoning.
"I can tell you the details once you rest up… However, that boy, he's special. Really, really special." Grisha exclaimed as he sat on the bed to show his wife Baby Aikon. "And to be honest, I kinda took a liking to him already." He sheepishly smiled and rubbed the back of his head.
"I see… He looks adorable and cheerful. Does he have a name?"
"Yes but, I'll need to give him a new one." He said and his wife looked at him in confusion. Since he said he'll tell her the details later, she decided to roll with it. "But of course, I'm going to tell him everything once he grows up."
Grisha then safely placed Aikon on the bed, before he took a look at his own baby. It was a boy. From the looks of it, he had brown hair and his eyes seemed to have a turquoise coloring to them, but were actually green. And his facial traits took more after his mother. On the other hand, Aikon had black hair as well as soft black eyes and a light-pale skin. Grisha then placed him next to his own son and stared at them. One was soundly sleeping while the other was more energetic.
"Alright, so we had already decided to name our baby Eren if he's a boy. But what about you?" Grisha hummed in though as he was trying to come up with a new name for Baby Aikon. "Ah-ha! Your name will be Licht." Grisha said which earned him a giggle from Baby Aikon.
"I can see that he likes it." Carla pointed out and smiled.
"Licht Jeager and Eren Jeager. From this day onwards, you two are twin brothers. And you two are also free." Grisha said with a smile as he stared at the two boys.
But just then, both adults were startled by the sound of Baby Licht's growling stomach. Carla then began to laugh, "Looks like he's really hungry." She said as she picked up Baby Licht and started to breastfeed him.
Happy to see that his family was good and happy, Grisha stood up and made his way to the door. "I need to go to the basement for a moment, but I'll be back in a few minutes." He closed the door behind him and immediately went downstairs.
Once he arrived, he started to write everything he discovered today in his diary. But after that, he started to think…
What should I do now? I can't let Licht get in the conflict between the Eldians and Marlyeans. I need to keep him safe. However, from the moment he landed on Paradis, he was no longer safe. I guess this could only means that I have to work harder, now that I have a precious family like this to lose. We, the Eldians Restorationists have to win at all cost. Grisha thought as was truly prepared to do anything to save the Eldians and his family. He was dedicated to his mission.
However, he then remembered something important. During the video projection he watched, Licht's biological father easily managed to carry the spaceship Licht came in. But he himself had to transform into a Titan in order to carry it, which could only mean that the man's strength is pretty close to a Titan's. He didn't know if his strength was stronger or weaker, but he knew that a strength like this could give them the advantage, the edge and the hope the Eldians always needed. Maybe Licht is the Eldians' last hope!
"He's a gift from the skies!" Grisha said. He then decided that he was going to observe Licht as grows up and study him. And you could say there's nothing wrong with that, since this will only guarantee their safety which in conclusion guarantees his safety too.
But let me tell you. This isn't the story of how Licht became The Elidians' Last Hope or anything. This is a story of a Warrior. One who would give people hope in the most desperate and darkest times and will always be remembered in History as a Hero and as:
Licht: Humanity's Last Hope!
Hope you guys enjoyed reading this new story, let me know what you think in the comments. Btw, I'm not going for an OP Saiyan or anything like that and I think I managed to find a way to balance things. However, it doesn't mean he'll be weak either, not at all. And look forward for more.
