The Girl Who Lived Once Again

In a cottage in Jedah Village...

There lived a family of four, the Sal Family.

They have an eldest daughter, Fiore. She was the eldest child.

And when she was five years old, her younger sister Maya was born.

In all families, children born must be years apart, for obvious reasons.

In poor families, everyone must work. Even little kids. The eldest children will mostly look after younger siblings and the house, so mother can work.

Thus when Fiore was five years old, she regained her memories of her past life in her sleep after learning what kind of world she is in now.

From a green-eyed brunette, to a light chestnut brown and dark brown eyes.

She was once a girl who chose to die because her situation will never change.

Life with the Dursleys. Her Hogwarts years...well, the only good thing about Hogwarts is that she gets to eat a lot and excel in school. Because she grew up without friends no thanks to Dudley, thus she has no idea how to talk to people, nevermind make friends.

But at least, Fiore knows what she wants, and utilized her money. That she has two sets of clothes. Her 'wizarding closet' where she has good quality clothes from Regent Street. She won't wear those sad outdated things from Diagon Alley, no way! Then the Dursley Closet. Petunia buys her the cheapest things she can find from thrift stores, some of which, won't even fit her and some are better off used as rags.

She avoids trouble whenever possible yet something 'compels' her to do what she DOESN'T want to do, making her suspect someone is controlling her with magic to get into trouble. The Mirror of Erised. Quirrellmort. Then the Basilisk.

Try as she may to ask Dumbledore for a place to stay that wasn't the Dursleys, she was denied each time that this time, she spited him by dying. Considering her family's history with Voldemort, she suspects him into making her encounter Voldemort when she normally doesn't care about those things. All she cared was studying and training herself. Studying Transfiguration, certain spells good for fighting, Charms, healing spells from Madam Pomfrey, and Herbology for herbal medicine purposes that she learned how to farm from Professor Sprout. And she learned from the elves how to cook better as Hogwarts' Food was delicious. Not the crap Petunia taught her.

She only cooks Vernon's favorite foods, not much variety there as well as unhealthy for growing kids.

No wonder Dudley's stupid growing up, and her magic saved her from that.

Such skills came in handy in this world now.

Jedah was a dirt-poor village. Just like in her childhood, she was often hungry. Money is hard to come by as there's hardly any work.

It's also dry and a constant heat drought that land everywhere is arid. The soil is acidic to boot.

Stuff they plant do NOT thrive in acidic soil. They have to plant crops that thrive in acidic soil. The only grain that grows in acidic soil is rye and oats. The good stuff favor alkaline soil. to neutralize acidity, they need powdered limestone! And where do they find limestone in this world, huh?!

Fiore who has magic, summons rain. She amasses the moisture in the atmosphere to gather rain. A bit slow due to how hot it was but she was patient...

It took her six months to amass enough rainclouds to flood an entire kingdom and fill up the rivers, ponds and lakes, and caused excessive lightning strikes that struck fear in a lot of people for the sake of gaining nitrogen carried to the soil via rainfall, and converted that nitrogen into usable stuff for Jedah's farms as there's no 'helper plant' in an arid land that will do that job for her. For the price of er, oversaturating the fields and flooded many places as well as getting muddy everywhere that she 'fluffed up' the farms by magical plowing to ensure good drainage in Jedah's farms, at least, the land of Kuruda got enough water to keep everyone happy in all bodies of water. From fish to land animals to people.

She'll have to do this every three months in lands as far as her eye can see after this extremely-heavy rainfall she's done in wherever heck she is.

It has great effect on Jedah's farms at least, considering she ensured the soil will drain well for a good ten feet into the soil.

Acidity reduced some, making it a great help. Not all, but getting some is better than none!

PH was a whopping 1.0 before! What edibles will grow up in that?! How long was the situation in this world that soil acidity here was that insane? Now it's a 5.5! Thank goodness for Professor Sprout studying muggle gardening techniques...wizards are extremely stupid with science that in her spare time, she reads muggle science books she purchased in her summer before First Year began.

Did Hagrid seriously believe she went home after he left her in the station? No, she did not! She converted her money, purchased a lot of clothes, shoes, accessories and science books as well as comic books she wanted so bad to have as a kid.

She'll have to make it rain every three months then to make the soil neutral as that's the best she can get.

As a result, crops finally grew that made the village of Jedah happy, that they finally have a livelihood, planting to ensure a continuous supply throughout the year. They had to hire Valles to help transport the cargo of precious goods in fear of bandit attacks on the way to Kuruda. The dry, arid lands of Kurudan Territory went from brown, to the green of life.

'So what do you girls want for me to bring home?' Fiore's new father, Solen Sal asked his family of three. It rained hard after harvest day of their crops and lots of lightning strikes. Again.

'New seeds we don't have to make the farm bigger.' said Fiore. 'We need stuff that gives flavor to food, like spices. The kind that increases deliciousness in food, not the kind that makes our mouths painfully hot. And root crops too for some more variety in food we eat. We have plenty of leafies here already.'

'We don't plant those though...do you want to build your own field already? You're taking care of it as its not sanctioned by the Mayor so no one's gonna help you OK? Be responsible!'

'Kay!'

That wasn't just what she's done.

Fiore was used to seeing good-looking people back in Hogwarts even if their personality belonged in a landfill.

Men here are extremely masculine in appearance. Women here are so androgynous in looks they may as well be 'handsome men given breasts and hips'. So she targeted all girls' hormones to make them grow up more feminine till age twenty, bringing out their feminine features by increasing certain hormones. She can only do this for girls below fourteen in Jedah. Including herself. The younger, the better chances of growing up a beauty by bringing out a woman's femininity. The new food and eating healthy, will certainly help them all.

For now, it's vegetables on the table, as well as bread. Stir fry? As soup? It's good that Jedah's shops can re-stock. And for crying out loud, they need new clothes...

Her father pulled through for her and she can plant again.

But doing a lot of physical work got her all toned up...not that she minded. She does enough that her body can handle, before letting magic do the rest for her and planted her own crops, and using minor sprinkles on seedlings on farms at night, while adults water and weed during the day. Careful with watering lest they drown the crops.

Thanks to lowered acidity, a lot of nitrogen and sun from the sky, the crops ain't nothing like in Earth that her childhood is now that of a full stomach. Considering she cooks after farming while her parents have TWO JOBS a day just to have four silver a month, her family no longer looked haggard.

There's cooking wine, salt and vinegar as well as oil in stores now. If done right with sweet-savory veggies and spices she's planted, food will taste great.

However, still a baby at home, that she had her dad purchase a sack of oats as baby food for Maya when she's past breastmilk period by the time she was seven, as well as poultry. So yes, a ton of oats for baby food and chicken food and she built a chicken ranch, and a place for shading the birds from both periodical rain she causes and cold. And after a little patience, food got TONS better that everyone can't help but eat a lot of vegetables and bread. And when chickens matured? Add chicken and egg dishes into the list! And with protein, muscle-building got easier. Especially in a world where everyone insists you learn two types of fighting skills. The Bright Skill that uses arms and fists, and Shadow Skill that uses legs and feet. In Jedah, usage of fists are popular. The Mayor teaches it to children without fail starting when they are nine years old. Of course, it begins with Body Training.

Fiore's parents bragged her talent at cooking and before she knew it, she was teaching how to make vegetable, chicken and egg dishes and bake better bread orally as nobody knows how to read and write. The taste, got everyone stuffing their faces afterward because of how good food had become.

Thanks to that, malnourished, haggard people recovered and morale went up due to having a bountiful farm, and delicious food that filled stomachs

But when she was seven?

All hell broke loose, via bandit attack.

However, what nobody expected, was a friggin' seven year old...beat the snot out of them, and can use magic...

'Oi Solen, did you send your kid for Magic Training?' a man asked Fiore's father as the adults were in utter disbelief.

'We don't have the money for that! My family's income is too cheap for school!' Solen sputtered. 'I'm just as baffled!'

After everything was said and done...

'Fiore, since when are you a sorcerer?' Fiore's new mother Lieri asked Fiore, stunned and wide-eyed.

'Socer-what?' Fiore feigned dumb. 'Isn't this normal?' the adults exchanged looks and she was then given an explanation.

That basically answered that she did NOT learn from a Sui Reme. Sorcerers who use talismans for their sorcery. Come to think of it she didn't use ofudas so she could be a Laza Reme talent as she uses magic without talismans? But Fiore is a self-taught Laza Reme and there's no way in hell can a village send her to Julianness for education as only Julianness educates Laza Remes while Sui Remes can be taught anywhere with a branch of Sui Reme Society in it.

Tuition fee, is EXPENSIVE. She'll have to be self-taught and she seems doing well on her own anyway.

Maybe she was just a natural talent for it that she can do what she wants on a whim?

But nine days later, was a visitation from Sevalles and one Valle.

'...looks like we came a little late.' Vy Low or famously known as 'Scarface', a young Sevalle scratched his head. They got news of a bandit attack around this area and they rushed to save the village. Yeah there were bloodstains and wrecked places, but no sign of mourning at all?

'Excuse us sir, we came here for a bandit extermination mission but somebody got here first.' Diaz Lagu spoke, approaching a man. 'May we know who thankfully got here sooner since we noted no sign of mourning?'

'Well, we had no idea one of our own is a magic user.' said the man. 'It's the Sol family's daughter Fiore. That little kid self-taught herself magic and thought its normal until we had to explain otherwise.' he said wryly, making the men do a double-take. 'She was a cluelessly-unknowing Laza Reme since she has no idea what a Laza Reme is anyway and just did things she thinks is possible. That kiddo saved our village.' the group of men exchanged looks.

Self-taught? Magic?

Impossible, everyone needed guidance to even learn how to harness magic before they can even use a spell! And this kid self-taught herself that she fought off a bandit force?

Fiore must be a prodigious Laza Reme in the making.

'May we meet this kid?' Kai Shinks, aka Crimson asked.

'You'll find her by the poultry farm she owns. Follow this road to the other side where our farms are.' the man pointed straight westward. 'Despite what happened a few days ago, she just went 'business as usual'. Does that kid not know fear?'

'Well, they usually make good Valles or Sevalles. Pretty much basic requirement to be in our line of work.' said Kain Phalanx, aka G. 'Let's see this kid.'

The farms...

'...I've never seen a farm like this in my life...' Diaz choked out as the warriors looked on in amazement. So much green. Edible green! And bustling with life that crops are so big! And they were used to nothing but dry, dead brown where nothing grows! Yet this village...so green. Even the countryside surrounding it has tall blades of grass, weeds and what else. 'In our country unless its the borders, not even a single blade of grass grew even when rain began two years ago. What did this village do right, that we did not?'

'Well, we ask the magic-using kid.' Kain decided as they looked for the Poultry Farm to find two kids. One older and the other, a toddler. Throwing grain mixed with some green bits on the ground at a swarm of chickens with a toddler watching nearby. She's pretty big and healthy. Most kids they saw are skinny and smaller than she is. She wore a typical tunic-style dress all commoners wear and a pair of boots. Her hair is very short in a spiky pixie cut, with a bow headband on her head. The chickens all have a large wooden watering trough, enough water to keep them happy, and a separate trough for chicks.

'Are you Fiore?' Scarface asked the little kid who looked up.

'Yeah, haven't seen you guys around in a place where everyone knows each other.' said Fiore. 'What is it?'

'We're supposed to exterminate the rumored band that goes around killing after robbing townsfolk. Where are they?'

'Oh, they're a bit far from here, all-immobilized.' Fiore smirked. 'If you'll arrest them, I hope you have a lot of rope ready. I sorta buried them all neck deep so they can't even dig their way out after I turned the ground into rock, and everyone else is to leave them alone till authorities get here. I'm pretty sure their faces are as red as tomatoes by now from too much sun.'

This kid is shockingly nasty, they thought. Heat Exposure can destroy anybody, even able-bodied men. And obviously, nobody felt any sympathy considering they were here to kill and pillage a few days ago.

'You didn't kill them? Warriors and Mercenaries usually kill bandits.' Diaz told her as Fiore looked awkward.

'Er...bad example to little ones...I protected everyone with a barrier while I fought.' she said awkwardly. 'I would if I have no little witnesses who might take things the wrong way.' she said. 'Killing isn't as normal as breathing. You kill because you protect. Maybe you guys will do it for me when no toddler's looking?' that request earned her smiles of respect.

'If only adults as old as you thinks like you these days. A little kid who's wiser puts them to shame.' Scarface shook his head. 'I understand that we're all poor and hungry yet they eat with blood on their hands while you poor folk fight for living an honest life and you're rewarded with such greenery...how did you do it? How did you get crops to grow in muddy soil that's no better than clay?'

'Well, I fluffed up the soil like cotton before rain for the water to drain into the ground properly, as well as loosening it up for sproutlings to grow properly after raining. Any plant will choke in compacted muddy soil, shrivel up and die, you know? Not only that, if water drained into the soil properly, the soil's acidity will lessen as well. Nothing will grow in acidic soil. Soil becomes acidic, if over-exploited by too much planting of high-yielding crops in the same place. So Crop Rotation saves the farm as well as heavy rainfall to dilute acidity somehow.' that's the only condition applicable in this medieval world as no chemical fertilizers here or pollutants that make up other factors. that's what she gets in books she's bought and as she learned through Lockhart, not all books, are absolute knowledge, so she uses magic to know the truth.

'A normal farmer's plow can't fluff up the soil after rainfall, it's just a bunch of muddy clumps...I do it with magic. Fluff it like airy cotton so water drains well with acidity and moisten it enough for seeds to thrive.'

'So we'd need sorcerers to make muddy land usable.' Diaz thought aloud. 'Assign one to all farming villages.'

'For the first two years, yeah, you'd need their help to drain the acidity waaaay underground.' said Fiore. 'I fluffed the soil up to ten feet so all the nasty goes down under and food can thrive. A little patience of two years gets you this nice sight over there.' she turned her head towards the green farms and the warriors looked at the thriving farmlands. 'Get fluffing before rain comes and when rain ends before planting seeds about six hours later. By then much of the acidity is drained down under. But a few more sessions are needed...about, three floodings to get the result here.'

'Right, we'll get the bandits out of your town and report this new discovery.' said Kai Shinks, delighted at the discoveries. 'Its a great help though it'll take some serious organizing of a lot of Laza Remes to do so. We'll have to time it with the rainy season...'

Diaz collapsed.

'Diaz!' the other men picked up the pale-faced man.

'He hasn't recovered yet.' said Scarface making G sigh.

'What he gets for fighting like a beast before we picked him up.'

'What happened?' Fiore began using diagnosis magic on Diaz.

'There's a dangerous infectious disease in Blorahan...it's treatable but its expensive.' said Kai Shinks. 'He fought like a madman, taking jobs to pay for the costs since not just his parents, but his little sister too. He became a Valle when his skills increased to an extent he's a candidate for Sevalle...but he got infected too so he keeps distance from us for our own good.' he explained.

As he explained, Fiore figured out the illness.

Tuberculosis.

'...this pal of yours, is a Grade-A Idiot.' Fiore shook her head. 'Dehydration and excessively stressing his lungs and chest muscles speeds up the process of the disease that compared to him, his sister in bed is better off! Not only that, his body hasn't recovered properly from all that fighting and injury. I know he's strapped for cash but its bad to do it in such a destructive way. I'll do what I can...but the costs are steep and I'm not talking about money!' she warned the men as she began using Healing Spells on Diaz. '...I'll remove the diseased flesh, the cause and regenerate healthy parts by force...and this'll shave off some years off his lifespan, assuming being a Valle doesn't kill him first! Just about five to seven years' worth of life tops!'

'...he'll definitely pay that as long as he can keep going.' G shook his head. They know full well how far Diaz will go for money when a life is on the line. It was why when they met him a few times out of coincidence in conflicts against Solfan, the enemy country, he was such a savage beast, killing any target in any mission he took.

'Well, as soon as he wakes up, bonk him on the head for me as my additional charges for being an idiot! Three of you, three bonks each!' Fiore demanded, raising three fingers from her left hand with her other hand on her hip, making the men laugh while feeling sorry for Diaz for angering this young Laza Reme.

'I pity the poor bastard who marries you someday!' Kain laughed. 'So strict~'

'Well someone has to be!'

After Fiore removed the diseased flesh and blood, as well as some sputum which she then vanished with a swish-and-flick of her finger, she proceeded with the healing. Diaz was well again when not long ago, he was so pale and breathing normally.

'Phew...well, cleaning my ranch and feeding the chickens all done, I have to start dinner next...our parents will be home soon. They went out to sell some of our chickens and bought new goods.' Fiore told the men. 'The bandits are across the river and I removed the bridge just to be on the safe side for the townsfolk and I would know if they freed themselves...no dice.' she grinned with an armfold.

'We'll deal with them soon.' said Scarface as the two kids went for home with a sack of oats floating behind them. 'Free doctor and discoveries that'll help us a lot. Not bad for a day of...almost no work.' he said sarcastically with a snort.

'Yeah, all we have to do is dig up our quarry and execute them where kids won't see. Its why she didn't kill those guys.' said Kain. 'Bad for impressionable youngsters.'

'Mm.' Kai nodded as they carried Diaz away to their next destination...their job. By the time they got there, the buried bandits whose heads are the only thing visible, are severely weak from exposure...

'I'll loosen up the soil so its easy to pull them out.' said Kai. 'Clean job, no bloodstains left behind. Its a request from that kid.'

'Right, broken necks it is.' Kain cracked his knuckles as Kai softened the soil to dig up the bandit group that slayed ten towns on record for money and food.

Penalty for Manslaughter...

DEATH.

In an Inn in Jedah...

'You awake now Diaz?' Scarface looked at the newly-awoken young man.

'Am I...OK?'

'You're very OK.' said Kain. 'Fiore healed you. Your beaten body and the disease in your body. She removed the tainted flesh and some bloody slime and regenerated heathy parts so you're disease-free but you lost seven years or less' worth of lifespan due to forceful regeneration to keep you alive.' Diaz gasped at that.

'I-I'm cured?! That stupidly-expensive 3000 silver disease, all gone?!' Diaz' world was greatly shaken. 'Just like that?' the two Sevalles nodded.

'Yeah, all gone.' said Scarface. 'Kai went to get us all dinner. By the way, Fiore was furious about how you got to be in your state that her idea of doctor's fees is you get a bonk on the head from each of us.' Diaz sweatdropped. 'She has an idea how your disease worked. Kai talked to her at home. The disease was Consumption. Your sister's case is active while you're a Latent Case that yours manifested months later through your inability to look after yourself.' Diaz winced at the blatant jibe at him.

'We were THAT poor that we can't even afford to relax.' said Diaz miserably. 'We care more for food that even little kids work. That disease took our parents and now it'll take Elle too. I wonder if I can ask her to save Elle...the money I saved up...we can live here in Jedah instead.' he decided. 'I want her to grow up healthy like the children here. There's no future in Blorahan unless she's willing to cure everyone who can't afford a doctor for free. Other families sold their houses just to cover the costs and now live on the streets so they're now street beggars its a matter of time before they get sick again and all that for nothing.' he said. 'Blorahan is already a dead village in my book.'

Soon, Kai was back with food. Four large loaves of bread, and a tray of large good-smelling vegetable soup with three round things in the soup.

'Heeeey, what's that? This place has tasty-smelling food!' due to lack of skill, people care more for fuller stomachs than taste these days. Same for rich people like Kai Shinks.

'Yeah, I almost can't wait to taste tasty food for once in my life.' Kai snorted as he distributed food...

Rye Bread is what commoners can afford. Wheat is a luxury only sold in wealthy cities and in Julianness while soldiers cannot afford to be picky regardless of lifestyle.

The vegetable egg soup...had a great effect on the warriors.

It was stupidly-delicious it overwhelmed them that they scarfed down everything and weren't satisfied yet they kept buying more till they can't eat any more and forced themselves to finish their last bowl.

'Shiiiit...how soon do we build a house here?' all of them are groggy from overeating. 'If a village inn's food is this tasty, what more of local homemade cooking, huh?!'

And to think they have to leave tomorrow to report back to Kuruda...

'You guys go on ahead to report tomorrow.' Diaz told his friends. 'I'll try to convince Fiore's parents to let me take their daughter to save Elle. I'll pay the family compensation equivalent to the days Fiore's gone since it'll take us a while to get to Blorahan.'

Sal Family Cottage...

It's like their neighbors' made of stone with thatched roofing. But the furniture is another story. Inside is a house belonging to very well-off people. That even the family can afford to dress very well and own leather shoes, instead of clogs!

'So you wish to take our daughter to Blorahan to help your sister.' Solen asked Diaz who nodded.

'Blorahan got affected by a Comsumption plague...it CAN be cured but its expensive which is why I worked as a Valle and took high-risk jobs for the money.' said Diaz. 'When Fiore cured me from that same disease, I can instead use the money I earned for Elle and I to live here instead. Blorahan's dead by the time I get home...unlike Jedah, we're all dirt poor to afford a doctor. Most neighbors sold their homes and themselves into slavery in exchange for their lives. That's how expensive the treatment was.' the couple were clearly horrified with the costs.

'How much does Fiore earn in her work?' Diaz asked the family. 'I'm ready to pay for the days she'll be gone. From here to Blorahan its a week away so she'll be gone for two.'

'Fiore earns for Jedah about 50 silver every three months as a poultry farmer since she began raising meat, and we keep the other 50 as her salary so our children cannot afford school.' said Lieri wearily. To afford school, the tuition fee is 1000 silver a year and where the hell will they get that money? The family would rather live in comfort!

'Jedah Village uses up half of everyone's income as taxes to fill up our shops with goods everyone needs so we're all thriving ever since the raining came.' said Solen. 'Healthy chickens are so big they can be shared by a whole family, we sell five-hundred chickens to Kuruda for 200 brass coins each bird when fully-mature every three months.' And as 1 silver = 1000 brass, the family salary is big.

How Fiore did it nobody knows...the chickens brought to her were small things that the average male can eat four whole roast chicken just to be full and sated. Yet her chickens are big and very fleshy...20 inches tall with weight to match, the lot of them under her care!

200 brass for those monsters he saw in Fiore's farm, yeah, high-quality breed indeed that chicken became very popular in the capital! Jedah Chicken is the most expensive chicken in Ashliana!

That means Fiore's family is very rich. Earning 100 silver every three months, she's basically the richest farmer in the country. Most farmers only earn four silver a month.

'We'll be gone for two weeks...it takes one week from here to Blorahan.' said Diaz. 'I'll compensate 50 silver on days she's gone.'

'Alright.'

'So, we leave after breakfast then.' Fiore mused. 'I'll prepare the bird food so dad and mom can manage the birds while I'm gone. They're all food hogs they put actual hogs to shame, but it helps with the sales.'

'Come to think of it, I see some green bits in the bird food...what're those?' Diaz inquired.

'Chopped up dried vegetables. It adds to chicken's flavor when cooked, no?'

Thus the next day, the Sevalles left Jedah after breakfast, parting ways with Diaz to go to Blorahan to pick up Elle.

'Hey Diaz, do you know how to read and write?' Fiore asked Diaz, ten minutes away from the village, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a cloak.

'Yeah, those guys taught me how.' said Diaz. 'Blorahan, like how Jedah used to be, is a very poor place. We learn from our parents by word of mouth.'

'Hummm...then, since you learned from those guys, your job can be village teacher then, if you and Elle settled down in Jedah.' said Fiore. 'But Jedah's a developing village, so you'll have to deal with one silver a month from each family and there are 40 kids of all ages below fifteen in Jedah. And even then half your income will be village taxes so the village can buy what it needs to develop. Due to our newfound plenty, families began baby-making again...when Maya's five years old, my parents will try again since mom's still young.'

Her mother married at fourteen due to need of a country to bolster population no thanks to their warrior culture and frequent death battles...Maya's born when Fiore's five years old.

'40 silver isn't so bad.' Diaz shrugged. 'But I have to keep being a Valle for two more years, so I can build a house for Elle and myself. The money I racked up will go to our home.'

Solen helped Diaz about organizing the building of his and his sister's house with the Mayor. The first floor being a living room, kitchen and bathroom, and upstairs is about...five bedrooms, incase Elle moves out upon marrying, and Diaz can start a family when he relaxes enough to marry. He had forked up 660 silver as down payment. 10 per man building his house, the rest goes to materials for building. Once he gets back with the girls, he'll fork over 500 silver more while he keeps the rest to buy Elle new clothes and shoes...and her living expenses with Fiore's family while he continues being a Valle for two more years for money. Then he'll settle down himself to be the Village Teacher.

Now then...what subjects do teachers teach, other than literacy and math?
