"This is so wrong" Hermione thought as Draco traced his lips down her jaw, to her pulse point.
The pair had been meeting up regularly for the last few months. Meeting up, and having mind-blowing sex They weren't in love. Not quite. But they had a soft spot for each other. They always did the same thing. They met at the front doors, snuck out to the Great Lake, and would make love under the moonlight. Usually, she would instigate it. Drop him an owl. Today however, was different. He had told her, and they hadn't gone to the Great Lake. They had taken a gentle stroll down into Hogsmede.
It was late summer, and when they met at 10pm, after patrols, the sun was still out. The heat of the day had passed. Hermione loved the scent at that time of day. But this time was different. They apparated once they got to Hogsmede, He took her to a lovely secluded cottage in the middle of nowhere.
They made love that night like no time before.
"I love you" He whispered against her bringing her out of her thoughts. Tomorrow was Saturday so they were in no rush. He collapsed next to her and they slept soundly in each other's arms.
Awaking the next morning, by bright sunlight, they dressed and somewhat reluctantly, Draco apparated them back to Hogwarts. Skipping Hogsmede entirely. They arrived on the quidditch pitch, and Hermione looked over. Horrified as Hogwarts was a pile of rubble on the ground, fire still alighting the building, thick black smoke filled their air, and hung low with the morning mist, meaning that Hermione and Draco were choking as they breathed.
"'Mione!" Draco said upon seeing what was before him.
"We have to see if there are any survivors" Hermione said running towards the building.
"MIA" Draco yelled running after her
They got to the building, but it was obvious that no one had survived. Hermione dropped to her knees and began to cry. Draco came up behind her and pulled her up to standing
"Mia, we have to get out of here" He said
"Why Draco. We have to do something here!" She insisted
"MIA! Listen to me!" He said.
"What?" She yelled back
"We both know who did this! How do you think it will look when we survived?" He asked. Hermione remained silent. Before pulling out of his grasp. She stared at him. Frozen.
"You knew" She said. Her heart pounding in her ears. She knew who he was. She had seen his tattoo. It hasn't bothered her
"I had to get you safe" Draco whispered hoarsely. His confession silent but too much to take
"Draco hundreds are dead! And you only chose me?" She yelled
Draco walked up to her
"I would sacrifice everyone on this planet to keep you safe" He promised
"Well what now Draco. With HIM Ruling the Wizarding World we can't exactly be together. Did you think you can live the rest of our lives hiding me? You moving on, marrying another while you keep me in your prison like a demonic doll?" Hermione yelled furiously.
"Hermione, I would never do that. You're my one. I can never love someone else. I'd never marry anyone else" He promised
"But I shouldn't be alive. If anyone finds me alive, they'll know what you did. You'll be as dead as I should be!" Hermione yelled
"No. No Hermione, that won't happen" Draco replied
"I don't want to be your prisoner, Draco" She said, tears slipping down her cheeks
"You won't be" He promised.
"What do you think of me, Draco. How! HOW Can we make this work?" She asked
"Well. I know that you won't move" Draco said.
"DRACO! How are we going to make us work?" she asked
"Let's both move. What are we fighting for now? Harry's gone. He was the only one who can save us. If we disappear now, it will just be assumed that we died in the fire. No one will come looking for us. We'll be safe" Draco asked
"Where will we go?" Hermione asked, after a moments silence.
"Anywhere" He promised.
"Australia?" She asked
"I have a Manor there. Mother and father never go. It belonged to my grandmother, who gifted it to me when she passed" He said. He held out his arm and together, they apparated.
