"The enemy is getting close. To close. Titans approaching from the bottom right, three in total. The squad rides in sync, careful not to break formation behind Captain Levi. How'd they get this far in so soon? He thinks. Eren behind him watches as they approach the southern group and as the titans catch them off guard. With no trees or building to be seen, there is no escape. Their horses are fast, but not fast enough.
"Fear creeps through Eren's chest. 'Captain!' Eren yells, 'We have to help them, I know we can!' Petra next to him gives him a sharp look. 'Don't you trust us Eren?' He looks back at the southern group, now within grasp of the towering beasts. 'So we're just going to let them die! We could help them. I could help them!' He grips his reins tighter, searching Petra's face for the remorse he feels, but she just turns away. He looks ahead to his captain, who is fixed on the land in front of him and doesn't make a move.
"All to fast, their comrades are dead and the titans barrel towards them. They are fast, faster then normal. Are they abnormals? The three ten meter titans are almost on there tails. Eren looks again to Petra, asking what do we do? Petra replies with a wide-eyed look, clearly as surprised as him. 'Levi, they are on us! What do we do!' she bellowed. Levi looks back for the first time 'Prepare to attack!' he says sharply. 'Eren!' he locks eyes with Eren as the others ready to use they're manoeuvre gear. 'Do not shift unless you absolutely have to. Keep riding, don't turn back for us.' He says in his sharp tone.
"With that Levi yanks his horse towards the titans. Eren can only watch as they struggle to fight the titans with no wear to grapple onto. He has to follow orders but he knows these are the best of the best, they'll be fine. The thought doesn't help the nought in his chest though. They can only grapple onto the titans but they are to close, they're more likely to get trampled or grabbed then to actually get a kill. They go for the titans shoulders anyway, gas launching the squad through the air. The titans grab at them, barely missing and stumble back. In the air they have a clear shot to the napes. Petra wasn't so lucky though. The middle titan caught her in its hand, bringing her close to its massive, drooling mouth. Her hands are trapped, unable to cut herself free.
"'Petra!' Levi has to change his course quickly and tries to redirect for Petra, barely escaping the titan he was going for. Grappling onto the titans massive wrist, he readies to slice. Just as he was about to reach her, a titan flew through the air from behind, ripping him from the air. It fell to the ground. It then gave a long look at the man in his hand and began to slowly squeeze. Levi gave out a rattling yell. 'Levi!' Eren screamed. With out thinking, he bit hard into his hand and lighting crackled in his place.
"Muscle and bone formed around him and with his new form, he ran towards the titan that layed on the ground, hearing as Levi yelled in pain. The titan holding him stopped when it saw him coming. It panicked and instead ran. Eren charged after it, the earth pounding under him. Levi looked fought in its big hand, unable to wriggle free and clearly in pain. Eren briefly thought back to his comrades still fighting as he ran farther and farther away from his squad. He ultimately thought they would be fine, they're the strongest after all. But we can't do this without the captain, Eren thought. He's our strongest soldier, he can't be replaced, I have to go after him.
"The titan ahead sprinted for miles, Eren gradually able to catch up to it. How is this thing so fast? He thought. He lunged at its legs causing it to crash into the ground. He got on top and punched its face hard, then went for the neck. Once it was sufficiently reduced to smoke, Eren shifted his attention to its hand, seeing Levi gasping for breath. He struggled to move, trying to crawl out of the now limp hand. Eren, as gently as he could, scooped up Levi, cradling him in one hand. Levi winced in pain, looking dazed up at Eren.
"Pounding footsteps echoed behind them. Eren turned to see five more titans rushing towards them. He looked back to Levi who croaked 'Get us the fuck out of here'. Eren closed his hands around the captain, trying to be as careful as he could and took off forward, not knowing where to go. He was all turned around, he had no idea which way Wall Rose was or where his comrades were. All he could do was run.
