The rapid galloping of Dusk through the dark luscious forest doesn't seem to faze her as we joinery towards Polis the grounder capital. Darkness has long since reigned over these woods following the setting of the sun many hours ago. Both Clarke and Dusk are fading from tiredness but they can't stop now until they've reached Polis. Somehow Dusk understands this and continues to spur herself on pushing her body to the maximin. She from a strong breed and by far the best horse in their clan which is why she was given to Clarke and why the two of them were sent off on this vital mission to acquire aid for their clan before Azegda wipes them out.
Running beside them is Anubis. Clarke's wolf. Well, one of three. She found three wolf cubs one day when she was out hunting with Lukas. It seems their mother had been killed by another creature as Clarke and Luka found the cubs huddling to their mother's corpse. Lukas argued against taking the wolves back with them but Clarke couldn't just leave them to die out here. They were alone scared and weren't going to survive out here on their own. She guesses she saw apart of herself in them from the time she and Wells spend trapesing around the woods looking for a reason to live.
In the end, Clarke was allowed to keep the wolves after she showed everyone that she could tame them. Which only added to the legend that surrounds Her. Out of the three wolves the one she chose as her wolf was a male wolf. Some people in the days before the bombs might have called him a blue roan wolf as his head was as black as Dusks... fur... what do you call horse hair. Fur or is just a coat. Not the point. Anyways Anubis from the head down was a weird black colour which in some lights looked like a dark shade of blue.
When picking his name, she figured what better name for the commander of death wolf the Anubis. The Egyptian god of the afterlife. Osiris the god of death was another option but she thought Anubis sounded better to her.
Anubis two siblings are still back with the rest of their clan. His two sisters are Storm which has a blue merle coat which is basically the fur being grey white and black mixed up with each colour being more prominent in one area. Like her fur her feet are black which turns into a dark grey then light grey and so on. Storm is the smallest of the wolves as Anubis the biggest but the fastest. Storm is Luna's wolf.
The final wolf is Twilight a black and tan wolf who is the best hunter as she's the quietest. Clarke and Luna both own Twilight. It was only fair if they shared the last wolf. Originally, Clarke had wanted Twilight to be Wells wolf but he wasn't as sold on the idea of splitting up the family of wolves.
When She first decided to leave Camp Jaha She was planning on leaving without telling anyone but Bellamy. Which had worked. For the first twenty feet until Wells ran up alongside her saying...
"You didn't think you could leave without me sister." Beside Clarke stood Wells was holding a backpack with another on his shoulder. He offered her his easy going smile as she stood frozen in the tree line just on the outskirts of Camp Jaha.
"Wells. What are you doing. " Clarkemanage to get out looking at him in shock.
"You really didn't think that I would let you walk away from here on your own Clarke." He smiles that gentle comforting smile tugging her to start walking again.
"How... How did you."
"How did I know you were leaving." Clarke nods waiting to see how he could have known her decision. "I knew the moment you pulled that lever to save everyone that you couldn't return to the camp. That you would have to go your own way. I wasn't going to let you go on your own." She goes to argue against him joining her in her self exile . He doesn't deserve to suffer like she does. He should stay back at the camp and help everyone else. He shouldn't have to witness everything she has planned. "Clarke." He cuts her off with his more forceful voice. "I'm not going to leave you alone. I know that it would be safer and probably better for me to stay in the camp but I could never leave you out here alone. Could you leave me." They both already know the answer to that question. No. She would never let Wells be alone. After Charlotte tried to kill him and then killed herself after murphy chased her as Clarke blamed him for attacking wells finding his blade near his unconscious body. When Wells woke up, he hated and blamed himself for Charlotte's death. Clarke didn't leave him throughout that and did everything in her power to help him. They're in this together have been since they were little kids back on the ark.
Clarke hates that she's dragging him down with her but she can't stay here any longer. "Thank you." Clarke whispers pulling him into a hug. There's isn't anyone in the world that she trusts more than wells. It's why when she thought he betrayed her she hated him so much. If she couldn't Wells then she couldn't trust anyone. But he didn't betray her. And he never will. Just like she will never betray him.
And with that, the Prince and Princess of the sky disappear out in the wilderness. Not even looking back at the place they should have called home.
Finally, after our two day journey, the road to Polis appears as they emerge from the woods. "We're almost there girl." Clarke mumble's rubbing Dusk's neck as they start to slow down their pace. Small breaks to stop themselves from becoming wiped out have made this five day journey down to just two days. Only ever stopping for a quick drink and something to eat. She knows Dusk has been pushed well past her limits but she keeps marching on refusing to let Clarke or their clan down. Anubis has also pushed himself to keep up with them and even hunted for them when they had to take a longer break.
Taking this chance, Clarke scan's her surroundings looking out for spies or assassins sent to stop her from getting aid for her clan. After five months under siege, the Azegda troops which had surrounded their last stronghold thought them too trapped and weak to escape leaving a small crack in their defence which she broke through before they even knew she had left the compound.
Since then, they've been running never stopping unless they had to. It's hard to tell if Azegda knows she escaped. She hasn't seen anyone following them but one can never be too careful when the survival of her clan rests on her shoulders. Without Heda's aid, their clan will not survive another two months.
They've only survived this long because of Luna's leadership. If it was anyone else in charge they would have fallen by the end of the first month. A fact which must have driven the Ice Queen Nia crazy when her scouts reported back to her that her ingenious attack on Floukru failed. Just.
As much as Clarke and Luna hate to admit it but Nia's plan was brilliant.
Nia had somehow gotten a spy on to the rig they used as their main settlement hidden away from the rest of the world. When Luna discovered it, her idea was to use it as our last strong hold if her clan was to ever be attacked. No clan can sail like floukru can giving them an advantage on the field. Well... Ocean. And the rig itself would make sure they wouldn't be trapped like they are now. They would still be trapped but the rig is self sufficient and can hold everyone alive far longer than the capital city of Delphnea. Clarke doesn't know how but Nia must have been aware of this as the Rig was taken out first by the spy sneaking Azegda troops on to the rig as the ice clan burned it and everyone on it to the ground. Only a few people survived to bring the warning to Clarke Luna and Wells as the three of them were visiting Delphnea to check on the progress of the healing school Clarke established within her first year within the clan.
Clarke doesn't know if the spy knew about their departure or not but they managed to survive that attack and the assassination attempts sent by the Ice Queen on the two of them. That was the only mistake taken on Azegda's part. Other than that their clan were sitting ducks. Now they have got many skilled warriors but like many others, they joined Floukru to get away from the violence and live a life of peace. Now that idea has been ripped away from them. All just so Nia can have more power. So she can install her pet natblida on the thrown to control and manipulate.
However, in order to do that Lexa would have to be removed from power either killed or voted out by the other clans. Her original plan was to kill Clarke and use the power of wanheda to make the other clan's side with her against the commander who fled the mountain. But Clarke's disappearance spoiled her plan leaving her to figure out a new one.
She's spent the past five years building secret alliances with some of the other clans to overthrow heda. Out of the thirteen clans, only three of them would never betray Heda. Lexa's original clan Trikru will always support their own heda. Skaikru Clarke's old clan would stand with Heda for her protection but if forced too would rather remain neutral than go against Heda. In a vote, them doing that would mean Lexa still remains the Commander. The third clan which is Floukru will always stand with Lexa as Luna and Lexa were once friends and Lexa allowed Luna to live after she fled from the conclave. Out of the three clans, Floukru is the most vulnerable and taking them out would make the other clans fear Nia enough to side with her leaving it ten to two. It wouldn't be hard for that much force to wipe out the other two clans or force Lexa to step down in order to save the clans loyal to her.
Of course, if Nia could just kill Lexa it would be easier but there is nobody better protected than her in all the clans. I'm sure Nia's tried many times to kill her but since she still alive she takes it those attempts failed.
Pushing Dusk to move faster towards the capital that isn't more than a few miles away she can't help but think back to my last night in Delphnea.
"This is the best plan Klark." Luna tries to argue with her resting her head on Clarke's shoulder as they lay tangled in the furs. A light layer of sweat covers their bodies as they spent their rare free time together desperate to escape the dangers that lay outside this bedroom. The only light within the room is created by various candles spread out around the room.
Playing with her red curly locks Clarke tilts her head to the side so their foreheads are connected. "That doesn't mean I have to like." Ever since they were attacked Delphnea has managed to hold on but they all know it's only a matter of time until they fall. They need more warriors and supplies. The only way to get that is if they get reinforcements. One of their scouts noticed a flank that is left unmanned and is big enough for someone to slip through. It will be risky but possible. When Luna suggested that Clarke takes Dusk and fleas through the gap she argued against it not wanting to abandon her people or Luna.
It took a lot of convincing but eventual she gave in and accepted Luna's plan. She was right in saying if anyone can make it through the Azegda defence to the capital it would be Clarke. Not to mention who she is will push the commander to listen to what she has to say. Maybe she can use her name to push for support. Her past with Skaikru should also help in gaining some support. Besides the commander has to know about the coup against her they discovered after many interrogations. Lexa needs to be aware of Nia's planning if they want to stop Nia from taking complete control of the coalition. Or if the extreme case were to happen and Nia be in the capital as well, she could take her out. Killing Nia would either end the war or just enrage Azegda to fight harder. Either way, Nia wouldn't seize control which would be the only silver lining throughout this ordeal.
"Ai hod yu in ai houmon." Luna says in trigesasleng sitting up before bringing her lips down onto Clarke's.
"I love you too my wife." Clarkes manages to get out in between kisses. "Now I believe I still have a few hours left before I have to go."
"Whatever shall we do in that time." She teases straddling Clarke's waist.
"Oh... I can think of a few things." She easily teases back before their bodies and mouths clash once again.
Leaving was hard but if it saves her people then it will all be worth it. She just prays that Luna can keep everyone and everything together until she gets back. Wells promised her that he would look out for Luna in her absence and I'm that moment she loved her brother even more than she did before which is something she thought was impossible.
Finally, a few hours after the sun has risen the gates to the capital appear in her sight as she slow's Dusk down coming to a halt just in front. The gates themselves are metal grates placed into the carved out wall just about what you would expect from a medieval castle. Two guards stand out front to stop and bid people enter in to the city. No doubt more guards are stations just within the walls in case of an attack.
"Nou." One of the guards orders Clarke to stop. "Chon yu bilaik. Chit laik yu hir gon." The same guard demands asking the two important questions. Who are you. What are you here for. The two guard look at Anubis gripping their weapons just in case. Anubis in turns watches the two guards searching for any kind of threat they pose to the three of them.
Throwing back her hood rather dramatically one might add revealing her short wavy blonde hair with the tips dyed red. "Ai laik klark kom skaikru. Ai'm hir kom speak kom heda. Nau." I am Clarke of the sky people. I'm here to speak to Heda. Now. Clarke makes sure her tone comes across as authoritative and demanding as possible stressing the importance on the now part.
"Heda ste nou hir." The first guard replies after sharing a glance with his fellow guard in shock and looking at Clarke in awe. What do you mean Heda isn't here. She snarls inside my own head. Who is she kidding of course she isn't here. She's never around when I need her. Just when she needs me. Controlling her inner anger she quickly thinks of what to do now.
"Ste Onya o Indra hir." Clarke asks pleading to the gods that at least one of them are here. If Lexa isn't here these are the next best two people to speak to. She would prefer it if Anya was here as the two of them bonded after Clarke saved her life from the mountain beat her in a fight and saved from being killed by Clarke's own people by stopping Anya from being shot by standing in front of her taking the bullet herself. From there they went to see Lexa together. She even took Clarke on as her second for a while after she was assigned to be her guard. She kept saying that she's good but even she isn't good enough to stop Clarke from getting herself killed. That was the moment Clarke knew she liked her.
From the look, she shot Lexa at the mountain she hated the treaty Lexa created with the Mountain but it wasn't her place to question Lexa in front of her people. Clarke has no doubt that she argued with Heda once they were in the privacy of the command tent. What she would have paid to see that.
Indra is also a good choice for talking to. Even though she doesn't like her much she doesn't like Azegda more. At least she hopes so. Indra's a great soldier and leader she can't deny that. If she explains the situation to her, she will make sure that the commander gets the message. What Lexa chooses to do after that is for only her to decide. Clarke just needs to get her message from Luna to her and then get back home while there is still a home to get back to.
"Sha." The guard replies seeming far too happy at being able to help her in some way.
"Teik me kom em nau." Clarke orders him to take her to them now. He nods quickly before shouting for the gate to be opened. Once inside the city walls she jumps off the back of Dusk relieving her of her weight before following her assigned guard pulling her hood back up to avoid attention. The fewer people know about her being here the better. Anubis and Dusk follow along behind her without her having to pull her reigns. She's a very well trained and intelligent horse. A gift from Luna. She remembers joking that they seem to have a theme going on of the sky since her being named after the moon while her people called her sky princess and her horse being called Dusk while Luna's horse is called Dawn. If you count the wolves then Storm and Twilight also fit this idea. Sadly, Anubis breaks the pattern they accidentally seemed to form. Wait she could have called him Eclipse. That would have fitted... Shit... Oh well, Anubis is a far better name for him.
They walk more into the city before the guard points over to the stable for Dusk to be cared for after a long journey as they can't take her further into the city. Following his lead, Clarke guide's Dusk and Anubis over to the stable. The other horses become spooked at Anubis presence but calm down after seeing there is no threat to them. She orders Anubis to watch Dusk and be ready just in case she needs him. Wolves are extremely intelligent creatures and sometimes it feels like Anubis actually understands everything Clarke is saying to him. She would prefer to take him with her for extra protection but he would draw too much attention which is the opposite of what she's after here.
The capital itself is vastly bigger in size than Delphnea and not built next to and on the ocean but other than that it's the same. Well apart from the commander's tower which is a huge candle-shaped building in the centre of the capital. It truly is as remarkable as Luna once said.
The guard guides her through the busy streets to what seems like a training pit. All around her warriors of different clan fight against each other. Men and woman of all ages training themselves. Spotting a group of Azegda people training over in the corner she tugs at her hood making sure they couldn't identify her. It's not being paranoid if people are actually trying to kill her. Searching the crowd she can spot Anya and Indra standing off to the side watching a group of children sparing with training swords. Seconds no doubt. The guard that accompanied her walks over to them before quietly announcing her arrival.
Immediately the two of their heads snaps over in Clarke's direction eyes growing wide but then just as quickly narrowing with suspicion. The two of them stare at her looking for any hint of her not being who she says she is.
Over the years she's changed. Which is to be expected. Now her hair is shorter and in its now usually braids. Her blonde hair has dyed pink strips. When she and Wells were hiding in the woods she dyed her hair red to make it harder for people to recognise her. When they landed in Floukru the red dye was starting to leave her hair leaving pink highlights which she thought looked pretty good and since then she's kept them using her own type of dye. Her body itself has more of a runners build from all the training Luna had her and Wells undertake to make sure they could protect themselves and their clan if need be. Her skin is more tanned from living beside the sea on the beaches and cliffs of Floukru land. Physically she's never looked better. The grounder outfits just completes the look. Neither Clarke nor Wells own any Skaikru clothing over than her dad's watch and his dog tags. They burnt the rest when they became members of Floukru.
They send the guard away. Clarke mutter's a thank you in his direction and his whole face lights up before he leaves to return to his post. Walking the short distance over to the two warriors she keeps my eyes and ears open enemies are all around her.
"Hello Onya. Indra." Clarke nod's in greeting towards both of them as the look of shock overtakes them. "it's been a while since we last saw each other."
"Five years Sky Princess." Indra bluntly replies recovering from Clarke's sudden arrival first. "We thought you to be dead." Clarke's not surprised by that fact. she figured after she didn't show up after the first year people would assume she and Wells died out in the forest. And in some ways, she did die. After everything that occurred with the mountain and those months fighting with the hundred against, the grounders she just broke down. It was just pure luck and her own stubbornness that she survived as long as she did. Wells was a great help during the first few months but even with him there she still felt every day she was just drowning. Sinking deeper and deeper into her own pain and angst. She tried to help him as much as she could with her frame of mind as it was she didn't want him going down with her. She's positive that if Wells wasn't with her she would have given up a long time ago. A few months into their self-isolation Luna found Clarke passed out on the beach not caring if the waves came and claimed her. She was just done with the pain and self-hatred. She wanted it to be over. Wells had left to go hunting during this time. He said he came back to find Clarke soaked to the bone with Luna kneeling over her just as wet as her checking her over. He first thought she had killed her and went to attack her but she easily dodged his attack and throw him to the floor before explaining what was happening.
Wells being Wells listened to what the strange red headed grounder was saying before thanking her for saving Clarke's life and carrying her back to her village to help her to heal and rest. She hates that she made him suffer so much following her after the mountain. She knows he was extremely worried about her rapidly deterring mental health. Sometimes she can still see him watching her praying she doesn't start showing the same signs as before. The siege only made him worry more but surprisingly she feels fine at the minute. It'll be the aftermath when she starts to lose it again. Luna expressed the same worries to Clarke but only about herself rather than Clarke. It's reliving but awful that she knows that she's not going to be the only one struggling when this is all over. That's if they don't all end dead.
"And skaikru once believed that Praimfaya left the earth unhabitable. Most assumptions tend to be false." Clarke's impressed about how cool and collected her voice came out. Indra frowns at her while Anya barks out a small laugh.
"Still got your teeth it seems Klark." The two of them always used to snark at each other. Anya tended to use more sarcasm than her. Clarke likes to think it's how their relationship worked so well.
"It is my best quality." Clarke jokes back at her letting herself smile for the first time since she left Floukru. It's good to see you Onya." Clarke admit. Out of everyone she missed Anya just as much as she missed Raven Bellamy and Octavia. She wonders how the three of them and the rest of the hundred are doing. Her mom and Kane too. She thought about going back to visit at times during her time away but every time she thought about it she was sent spiralling back to the mountain and started drowning in her guilt all over again. After a while, she just avoided thinking about camp Jaha altogether and focused on her new home. Luna of course noticed this but never pushed her to talk about it. Just another reason she loves her. Pushing those thoughts down she offers her arm in greeting to both and Indra. They share the respected traditional version of a handshake before moving on to the subject at hand. "However, I'm not here on a social call," Clarke says more seriously. "I needed to speak to Heda. I have a message for her."
"A Message from who," Indra asks ever the serious one. Anya raises an eyebrow asking the same thing.
Looking around Clarke indicate that the three of them should move further away from everyone. Once she's fairly sure no one can hear them she starts. "Floukru was attacked by Azegda six months ago they destroyed our main settlement and killed almost everyone there. Soon after they raided and attacked our other villages and by the time we were aware of what was going on it was too late. The past five months we've been trapped in Delphnea as Azegda laid siege. Luna said we can't hold out much longer and is requesting the Heda to help us as we are part of the coalition." Anya and Indra go to ask Clarke a question but she brings her hand up halting them from speaking. "Luna also wants to warn Lexa that Nia is planning on making a move for the throne. Nia has secretly been training a night blood who obeys her every word. She tried to have Lexa killed but nothing seems to work so she's going to try and go for a heda no more vote. The way she sees it only three clans won't be turned to her side. Trikru Skaikru and Floukru. By wiping us out she makes sure that the other clans will follow her leaving it a ten to two in the war. Lexa will either have to fight the war or give up being the Heda." To say that the two of them had looks of horror on their face would be a tremendous understatement.
"I'll send a rider to fetch Heda right away. She's training the natblida's three miles outside the city." Anya states sharing a nod with Indra. "You can tell her everything when she gets back."
"I can't." Clarke tells them stopping them from moving away.
"What do you mean you can't." Indra asks annoyed not that Clarke can blame her in this situation.
"I have to get back to Floukru. Luna can't hold the city on her own. Wells is helping her keep Azegda back with some tech we found but I'm needed back. My clan needs me back defending. I am quite good at figuring smart ways to repel attacks." Clarke states looking directly at Anya as she doubt thinks back to the time, Clarke burned three hundred of her warriors alive. God does she wish she could do that again right about now. Anya and Indra go to argue with her but much more forcedly Clarke makes it very clear where she stands now. "Luna needs me." Her voice coming out much softer than she meant it to. Something seems to click into place for both women a look of concern and understanding passes over them.
"Of course klark. We understand." Anya says placing her hand on her shoulder. Anya's eyes growing from their usually hard to something much softer. "We'll have a fresh horse ready for you and when we come to aid Floukru we'll return your horse." Anya seems so sure that Lexa will help. Indra leaves to go ahead and get everything sorted.
"You Seem sure Heda will send aid." Clarke states watching her reaction closely.
"Because I am." Her confidence in this situation astounds Clarke. However, the bitterness in her head makes a reappearance thinking about the last time Lexa promised she would help her and her people.
"You were also sure that Heda would help us take the mountain." She can't help but shoot at her. Even after five years, she hasn't forgotten Lexa's actions. She may understand why she made her choice, She doesn't agree with her decision and thinks it was a stupid move to make. She wouldn't have taken the deal as it would have made the mountain men stronger and even more dangerous to the people living on the surface. Or she would have took the deal and then betrayed the mountain men once my people were safe. Either way, Lexa made a decision she thought was best for her people. Something Clarke has had to do far more times than she would have liked. That doesn't mean she has to forgive her for betraying them. She doesn't think she ever will but if she does send help maybe Clarke can find a way to move past it.
"I didn't agree with her decision." Anya says quietly as they make their way back towards the gates.
"I know." That is all she says to her on the matter offering her a small smile to show that she doesn't hate her for leaving and that she still considers them to be close.
"So, you and Wells been with Luna all this time." Anya says effectively changing the subject. Thank god.
"Yeah. She found me passed out half dead on the beach and brought me home. She helped me repair myself. She even took me and Wells on as her second's for a while." Seeing the look on Anya's face I can't let this opportunity pass her by. "Let's just say her rewards were far more effective at getting me to follow her teachings."
Anya scoff amused at my delectation. "If that all it took to get you focused, I would have tried that to begin with." She jokes.
"It deficiently would have worked." Clarke reply without hesitation. Not expecting her to say that Anya actually stumbles slightly eyes growing wide as her head snaps to her. Clarke just shrugs in response. She's not lying she probably would have hooked up with her if she tried anything. The main reason she didn't get with Lexa was because she wasn't ready for that level of commitment. She means come on the two leaders together. Think about the consequences that would have happened if they broke up. She just used Finn as an excuse. Well kind of. She did hate what she had to do to him but she wasn't in love with him. I mean she did love him but not like that. HE ruined that the moment he didn't tell me he had a girlfriend and she could never do that to Raven. Killing him still screwed with my head a bit. Read as a lot. And she just wasn't ready for a relationship like that. She needed time to deal with everything that had happened since they landed on earth. There was always so much going on she never had the time to get my head on straight and process everything that happened.
"Ha. Lexa would have killed me." She says in a joking manner but the look in her betrays her. She really thinks that Lexa would have killed or at least punished if she tried to touch Clarke in that way.
"Your loss," Clarke says slightly smug as Anya rolls her eyes. "Back to the point. Luna is a great teacher. I learnt a lot under her."
"Of course, you did." She says with a feral grin twisting Clarke's words into an innuendo. She rolls her eyes at her comment instead of answering. I mean she's not wrong.
Their conversation is cut short by some guards up ahead of them shouting. The two of them share a look before speeding up to see what's going on.
Turning around the corner she spots in the distance the guard from earlier shouting at two other guards who have their weapons pointed at Anubis who in turn is snarling at them hunched over ready to pounce in front of Dusk acting as some kind of shield. Indra is also there to the side looking confused her eyes rapidly flicking between the three sides.
Cupping her hand together in front of her mouth Clarke does an imitation of a wolf howl earning a strange look from Anya as her head snaps to her before turning back to the scene playing out in front of her.
Anubis ears flicker picking up Clarke's call whisking his head over in her direction. Snapping her fingers, Clarke points to the ground in front of her. Instantly Anubis takes off running in her direction as Clarke crouches down to better stroke her good boy. He rams into her almost knocking her off my feet as he starts to lick at her face.
A care free laugh escapes as her ferocious feral wolf is huge softy in reality. "You never cease to surprise me sky girl," Anya comments from beside her in disbelief at the scene in front of her.
Standing back up Anubis sits down in front of Clarke wagging his tail like a dog would. Turning to face Anya she makes the introductions. "Onya. This is Anubis. Anubis this Onya. She's a close friend." Anubis barks in acknowledgement of Anya being their friend and worthy of our protection should the need arise. He rises and takes a few steps towards Anya who has tensed at his movement. Sniffing her hand accruing her scent the future reference. "Good boy," Clarke mutters stroking his head as Anya looks at him unsurely. Grabbing her hand, Clarke places it on Anubis neck ignoring her eyes widening at Clarke's actions. She guides her hand in stroking his fur coat prompting her to stroke him without Clarke making her.
"How." Is all she manages to say her mindfully engrossed on the wolf in front of her.
"Wanheda secret." Is all Clarke says in response before walking off towards the stables ignoring the glances following her. A second later Anubis appears at her side her forever loyal wolf.
Before Clarke can get a new fresh horse for the journey back the sound of horns ringing around the area. Indra shoots her a look she can't quite decipher. She can hear Anya come up behind her. "The horns mean Heda is returning." Clarke manages to hold in the groan that stirs inside of her. Of course, she appears as Clarke goes to leave. "It will be better you stay and explain everything to Lexa in person. You understand what's going on better than we do." Anya says carefully unsure how Clarke will take her suggestion. Not that she can blame her. On one hand, she really wants to return home and help her people. On the other, if she stays here a little longer she can help the commander better prepare herself and her army to fight Azegda if she choices to help. If she doesn't then she's wasted precious time she could have used making her way back home. Also, does she really want to deal with Lexa.
"I leave first thing in the morning," Clarke tell's Anya not bothering to see her reaction instead walking over to where dusk is munching on some hay. Dusk and Anubis deserve some time to rest and recharge before they start the long journey back. "Does anyone have any meat on them." She asks the assortment of guards gathered around her. When nobody answers she once again rolls her eyes spotting their confused looks. "For my wolf."
"Sha Wanheda." The guard who guided be before answers before running off to get some meat for my wolf.
She likes him.
A minute or two later the gates open to and the sound of horse's galloping enter her ears. Sounds like a large group. Maybe ten to fifteen horses. She doesn't spare them a look focusing on Dusk running her hand up and down her back. It's a soothing gesture to both of them.
Clarke can hear Anya and Indra shout for Heda's attention. Enjoying her last few moments of peace. Clarke turns around and is greeted by Lexa's forest green eyes staring directly into her sky blue eyes. Here we go.
