Lucina opened her eyes slowly, the bright sunlight flooding her retinas. She moved her hand in front of her face, moving her dark blue hair aside. After lying in wait for a few minutes, she got up.

Wiping the sleep from her eyes, she put one hand on the grass and pushed herself upward. Opening her eyes, Lucina looked around. She was lying in a meadow, surrounded by trees and bushes. There were two or three pillars of smoke that were lazily drifting upward, signifying some sort of life. Or a wildfire Lucina thought.

After she stood up, Lucina warped her hand around her sword scabbard, feeling her Falchion sitting in its resting place.

"Where am I?" She wondered aloud. The last thing she remembered was falling asleep in a tent, just after a small-scale battle against some rebel knights. One thing that made it more weird is the high level of security that was around her. Her father, Chrom, at least ten armed knights, her husband, Robin, and Frederick.

If somebody had taken her away while she slept, they must have been either very quiet, or they used some sort of teleportation rune.

But why would they want me? She asked herself. All of the threats I've fought that have either survived or joined my side. Unless….. Lucina physically recoiled when she thought of a reason Unless somebody wants me out of the picture.

Lucina shook the thought away and started to head toward the pillars of smoke in the distance. "Hopefully they can tell me where I am." She said to herself. After a very long hike through the forest, Lucina stumbled upon a village. More like a hamlet, she thought. There were only three or four houses, a blacksmith, an inn and a small restaurant.

Beyond the houses were fields and large fenced areas with animals in them. Based on all that she was seeing, Lucina assumed that this village was totally independant and was 'cut off' from the outside world. If there is an outside world, Lucina thought. For all I know, I could be in a totally different realm.

"Who goes there!?" A man standing nearby challenged. He raised a pitchfork and shook it, trying to scare her off. "Stay away or you'll be six feet under!"

Lucina smiled grimly. She rested her hand on the hilt of her sword, her easy-going stance signifying that she was a warrior who had seen many battles. She narrowed her eyes, the crest imprinted in one of them glowing slightly.

The farmer, armed with a pitchfork, charged at her.

Lucina drew her sword in a flash, flicking the heavy and unwieldy weapon aside. She slammed the flat of her blade into the farmers hand, him dropping the weapon in a scream of pain.

Lucina dashed forward until her face was a mere few inches away from his face. "Try that again, and you won't feel yourself hitting the grass." She said, her voice very low and threatening.

The farmer gulped and backed away, holding his hand up in a gesture of peace. "Please!" He cried. "I was just being careful!"

Lucina nodded. "I understand your reasoning. Say, where would I find the local restaurant?" Even though she already knew where it was, she wanted to seem less threatening.

The farmer pointed a shaky hand toward a small shack with a large picture of a plate painted onto the doors. "There. I personally recommend the rabbit stew."

Lucina nodded her thanks. She offered her hand to the farmer, wanting to leave no hard feelings behind. The farmer shook her hand and went back to painting his fence, his pitchfork still lying in the grass.

Lucina picked it up and gave it to him, then headed to the restaurant.

She opened the door slowly, the old hinges giving a loud creak as they moved.

A cook from the back room walked up to her, greeting her with a nod.

"Hello, Ma'am." She said. "What can I get you today?"

"I'll take some rabbit stew if you have any." She replied. "How much do I owe you?"

"Like, money?" The chef asked.

"Yeah."

"We don't have enough people to have a money system here. In this place, we pay off each other with gifts."

"What gifts do you think I would have for you and the village?"

"Well," The woman replied, "I saw you do some real good work with your sword there. I think you could do us lots of good if you taught the younger ones."

Lucina shook her head. "I'm only passing through. I need to continue my journey to...somewhere." Lucina said. She didn't know where she was going, but somewhere with more people would be her best shot at finding out where she was. And how to get back.

"Well, I wouldn't leave if I were you." The chef replied as they started a small fire.

"Why? I can leave here, by any means necessary."

"Well, this forest is the only thing that keeps those monsters away. They get weakened by the amount of energy in the forest and they can't enter. This is the only village in this forest, all others were destroyed by those monsters."

Lucina moved a hand through her hair and frowned. "So there is nowhere else?" The chef shook her head. "Well, I guess I might as well stay here."

"How did you get here anyway? Were you a survivor of another attack?"

Lucina looked down. "I got here in a strange way. I just...woke up here."

The chef smiled. "Well, make yourself at home. The department store attached to the inn is giving away some old planks you can use for a lean-to while you stay here."

Lucina smiled and thanked the villager for the help, then ate her food ravenously.

After her meal, Lucina walked outside. Luckily, the shop owner had gotten her those wooden planks, but only gave them to Lucina when she promised to stay and teach the ways of the sword.

Lucina knew that they people would need it, but she wouldn't teach too much. Only basic fighting and defense, none of the advanced moves she knows. I have to give myself the edge, so I can't teach them all I know, she reasoned.

After setting up a small shelter out of the spare wood she had gotten (And some deadfall from the forest) and created a small shelter. It was backed against a short cliff face, the boards making up the floor and slanted roof. One of the ends was blocked off by some rocks she had found, along with a layer of branches and leaves for insulation.

The entrance was covered by a flap of canvas she had been given by the local leatherworker for agreeing to stay with them. Lucina crawled inside her 'house' and pulled out some knives she had in her belt. She etched a single tally into the roof and left, taking all her belongings with her.

She walked to the center of the village, taking branches and using ehr knives to carve them into staffs and short spears. Not that they could kill anything, mind you. Just enough for the villagers to get a general feeling of combat.

"Who are you?" A young boy called from a few meters away. Scolding herself for her arrogance, Lucina replied.

"I'm Lucina. Who are you?"

The boy scratched his neck and frowned. "Aaron. What are you doing with those sticks?"

"I'm making tools."

The boy left, satisfied with her answer.

Soon a middle-aged woman walked up to Lucina, holding a small wooden staff. "Just what do you think you're doing? This is my town! You can't just waltz in here and take charge!"

Lucina stood up, brushing the dirt off her tights. She smiled coldly.

"I have something I have to do, and it's for your good! Let me keep doing this, so your village will have a fighting chance if the monsters come back.

The leader of the town scoffed. "I doubt you even know how to swing your sword." She obviously had not seen Lucina's skirmish with the farmer.

Lucina nodded. "Let's duel then."

"Have it your way." The middle-aged woman picked up her staff and held it ready.

Lucina drew her Parallel Falchion and held it ready. She dashed forward, swinging her arm forward in an overcut, then switching to a side cut.

The small wooden staff was sheared in half and Lucina kicked her opponent in the leg, keeping her down on the ground.

"Looks like somebody needs to learn how to fight." Lucina said, her voice smug.

Fueled by anger, the village headwoman stoof up and drew a short flint dagger. "You'll pay for that!" She yelled, swinging her knife in a lazy side cut motion.

Lucina foresaw the attack from a mile away, leaning back so the blade flew above her shoulder. Now that the village leader's arm was reached out and exposed, Lucina grabbed it and used all of her strength to throw her target onto the ground. To make sure nothing happened again, Lucina placed her foot on the dazed woman's neck, keeping her in place.

"Stay down." Lucina commanded harshly. "I won't ask again."

After her impressive show of power, Lucina was welcomed into the village with open arms. With the help of the village children, by dusk they had carved out four wooden spears and five wooden staffs (Which could be easily carved into spears themselves.)

"Why can't we learn the sword?" A small girl, Lianna, protested. "Aarons my big bro and he can make sure I don't get hurt."

Lucina shook her head. "A spear is better suited for people like you-no offense. You have all worked hard, but judging by the way your leader fought, I assume you are all self-taught. Both of my sparring partners had bad strategy, with the skills to match. I have been training since birth with the sword, and by the time I was 15 I was halfway reasonable." Lucina was being modest, toning down her real abilities. The truth was, the crest in her eye let her fight much better than the average person. But she was not planning on telling any of them. Not at all.

Aaron stomped his foot. "I really want to use the sword though!"

Lucina refused to yield. "The spear keeps your opponent away, and I don't have time to train swordsmen and women. It takes too much time, and I need you all trained as soon as possible, just in case the monsters attack again."

Aaron stomped his feet again and went back to scribbling in the dirt with a stick.

Back in Ylisse…

Chrom kicked the dirt angrily, to Robin's distaste.

"You shouldn't mark up the dirt like that." Lucina's husband stated. "That won't help Lucina."

Chrom turned and threw up his hands in defeat. "I guess you're right. I just don't understand why she left. It was so sudden."

Robin shook his head. "I think she was taken by somebody. Just think about it," the tactician gestured the wedding ring on his finger, "She's almost twenty-one years old. She is mature enough to not make stupid choices. And, we found evidence of magic being used near her tent."

"Good thing you were on guard duty." Chrom stated. "Otherwise you could've been taken as well."

"Yeah. I just hope we get moving back to our main base soon. Being in the open here in the fields gives me the willies."

Chrom nodded his agreement. " I just hope she's okay. I wonder how her mother is going to take the news."

"You mean Sumia?" (Yes I chose her as Chrom's wife, deal with it :P), Robin asked. "After you tell her, give her some time to adjust. She'll take it better after some time."

Chrom looked toward the sky. "Lucina, my daughter," He wished. "I hope you will be safe, wherever you are."
