~Warning~

[The following contains Spoilers for RWBY Volume 8's final two episodes, if you have not seen the episode and do not wish to get spoiled, please do not read. If you've already seen the episode or you just don't care, welcome to this one-shot]

A Drop of Wonder

She dropped, and dropped, and continued to drop. Ruby wasn't quite sure on what to really call this feeling, especially since she was slipping in and out of consciousness after feeling an odd wave wash through her. After Blake had caught her she was sure they'd have somewhat of a chance. Or at least, her friends would, given she had also lost her weapon prior to the endless drop. That was until the rope of Gambol Shroud was cut, the two slipping from each other and falling into the abyss.

'Do Not Fall'

That was his warning, and admittedly having heard that she was sure that something like this might happen. Even so it felt so surreal, first her Sister, then Neopolitan, and now her and Blake. She could only hope that Weiss and Penny would be able to handle what she and the others had failed to do. Giving a short chuckle as she realized how cruel it was to leave her partner behind in this crucial of moments.

All Ruby Rose could do was let her thoughts drift away as she fully lost consciousness, completely unaware of where she was going. That was until something felt odd, there was a breeze, but it wasn't enough to wake her up right?

SPLASH!

The sudden feeling of thrown water being thrown on top however would wake her up. Or rather, it was the sensation of being dunked in a large body of water that did it. Ruby's eyes opened immediately as adrenaline kicked in. It wasn't endless falling anymore, she had fallen somewhere, and that meant anyone else who did had likely the same fate as her. Quickly managing to swim and right her position she gasped for air as she broke against the surface of the water. She was facing what seemed to be an endless expansive landscape with what appeared to be floating islands.

Turning to find any sort of land she soon found she was near a beach, her eyes widening as she saw Crescent Rose embedded in the strange patterned sand. Quickly swimming over she managed to touch against the shore before dragging herself out of the water. While her clothes were soaking wet she realized that maybe all wasn't lost. And she soon realized she'd have to try and meet up with her friends again.

That was until the fatigue kicked in just as she reached dry land. Giving a groan she fell forward onto the sandy landscape, mere inches away from her weapon.

"I can't… I can't just let it end here…" She muttered as she tried to pull herself forward even if she knew she should rest. After all she had spent about two nights with minimum sleep and was constantly fighting throughout the past couple of days. By all accounts she had earned some sort of rest, but with the possibility of Yang and Blake out there, alongside the idea that Neo might be lurking… she needed to push herself further.

She was unaware however of someone who was watching her from above. They had seen quite the number of shooting stars at various intervals, which was odd when it came to those who entered this world. Normally that wouldn't be possible, certain gateways needed to be formed, certain groups needed to take action. But realized that this girl likely needed help, the watcher had chosen to descend.

Ruby saw a shadow and weakly looked up, trying to push herself further as she saw a silhouette coming from the sky. From what she could vaguely tell, it looked to be a well dressed man… who was descending via balloons?

The man gave a hum as he let himself drop, releasing his grip on a series of colorful balloons that flew off. Landing on the beach he walked over, revealing he wore all pink attire with a patterned jacket, having long green hair, glasses and a black mustache. Oddly enough he had a branch on his shoulder alongside a pink top hat.

Ruby could only stare up at the man in near shock, muttering her words she barely found her voice, "Am… am I… seeing…? Who… are you?"

"Bonne Lecture," The man smiled as he walked over and knelt down in a friendly manner, "My name is Tassel."

"Tassel…" Ruby spoke before soon passing out.

"Oh dear," Tassel stared at the fallen Huntress, glancing over at her weapon before clasping his hands, "Just what are you doing in Wonder World?"

As he asked this question two more shooting stars appeared in the sky, launching downwards. He could only wonder just what was going on to cause this strange occurrence.

Author's Note: I figured since I have some time left in the day I'd do a bit of a weird but fun one-shot when it came to April Fools instead of a trick. Needless to say that when I saw the end of RWBY Volume 8, I was quite surprised at our locale of choice that we ended off on. A lot of people joked about Super Hell, and many brought up the great point of Yggdrasil. But being the Kamen Rider fan I am, the shot of the tree reminded me of something other than Gaim.

And that was Kamen Rider Saber and its secondary setting, Wonder World. A lot of shots involving Wonder World showcase a large tree as the main centerpiece. And it sort of just clicked for me, especially since Volume 8's ending nicely sets up some potential isekai related shenanigans for crossovers. This was mostly me poking fun at the random thought. Mostly when I felt like expanding it to the idea of "What if Ruby met Tassel and her introduction to this strange world was started via his wonderful phrase of Bonne Lecture" before just running with it.

This in no way means I'm doing a Saber Crossover with RWBY, mostly I've got a lot on my plate via Roze from Remnant.

That doesn't mean I'm not hashing out another Saber Crossover though… and that's all I'll say on that since I'm waiting for Saber to run through all it's in series toys and forms and ideas first before choosing to really go in charging.
