just a short thing i wrote on twitter but really liked
enjoy!
Katsuki is super sappy and in love when he gets with Izuku, just head over heels. Everyone expected Izuku to be the lovestruck one, but Izuku is so used feeling this overwhelming affection for his boyfriend, nothing changes save for the new PDA.
They'd loved each other their whole lives, they realized. Even through their falling out and reconnection. Though middle school. It was as though an everlasting flame was sparked the day they met, fading but always returning.
It was a pleasant realization, which let to a teary confession, clumsy first kiss, and a new chapter in their relationship. A romantic chapter.
It was shocking, at first, to see Katsuki pressing kisses to Izuku's crooked hand, massaging it gently. They didn't think they'd ever get used to him casually wrapping his arms around Izuku from behind to whisper affections in his ear.
Izuku was flustered at first, but soon learned to just accept it gracefully. It was probably temporary anyway, just the rush of entering a relationship. It would fade away.
However, a year later, Katsuki was still as mushy as ever. If not more so. It wasn't unusual to find them dancing together in the common room, Katsuki's phone playing a gentle tune.
Izuku always had a bento box packed for lunch, carefully and lovingly made. The boy never lacked anything, Katsuki made sure of it as though it was his life's mission. If it was, he was extremely successful.
Izuku always tried to return the gestures of course, giving Katsuki a fresh baked treat to enjoy after lunch everyday and buying trinkets he thinks his boyfriend would like. He had a notebooks full of date ideas, some used some patiently waiting.
They were unstoppable in training and hero work, far too in sync for any villain or criminal. It's firmly believed by the class they could have taken All Might down in his prime, now. Izuku was skeptical, but Katsuki would never deny the claim.
They were a picture perfect couple. It wasn't as though they didn't have conflicts, of course they did, but no matter what, they loved each other. You could tell just by looking at them, their love was special.
Katsuki's affections never died, only getting stronger. They didn't shy away from anything, leaving the same room in the mornings and kissing in the hallways. It was almost gross, how in love they were.
When graduation arrived, no one could even feign shock as Katsuki got on one knee, presenting a beautiful ring in a box. It was as though Izuku had never thought of it before though, gasping and crying immediately.
"I know it sounds dumb, I know we're young, but I don't have any doubts in my mind. In my heart. I love you more than I should, more than I ever thought I could. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I can't imagine living without you. Izuku Midoriya, will you marry me?"
The answer was even less of a shock, but they cheered nonetheless. Katsuki's love poured out of his soft touch as he put the ring on Izuku. His own eyes wet with tears and affection.
The wedding was wonderful, All Might himself making sure everything was the best it could be. It was a huge event, the new Pro Heroes already having adoring fans. Photographs of Izuku walking down the aisle in his lacey white suit, were everywhere.
Katsuki couldn't even be mad when his tear stained face joined those images, his crisp black suit complimenting his husband perfectly. The images were still popular a year later, never quite fading away.
They were disgustingly in love the whole night, attached at the hip the whole event. Their touches, kisses, and words could make any couple jealous, but they were just so happy.
The duo moved in together, and if you asked Izuku how it was going, you'd get an earful. You'd hear about how Katsuki was so sweet and caring. How wonderful it was to hear his "I'm home!" when he got home late.
How much it soothed him when Katsuki wordlessly kissed him and guided him to the bath after a long day. He still has the same sparkle in his eyes as he did the day they arrived to class hand in hand.
He would admit Katsuki could get on his nerves, they didn't always agree and get along, but they always fixed every issue. They wanted this, they wanted each other, so they were willing to work at it.
Again, it was expected that this would fade. That, eventually, one of them would snap. But the day never came. Sometimes they didn't work as flawlessly, they didn't talk at the agency, but they would be back to normal within the week.
But it'd only been a year, surely this "newlywed adrenaline" would die down. Eventually they would be just like every other average couple. Some doubters even suspected a nasty divorce down the line.
Nothing of the sort ever came. They did calm down, yes, but if anything, they just became less loud and more tender.
Fifteen years later, despite everything, they still held the same devotion for one another as they had since the day they first met.
