Midorima opened the door to hear voices, quite an unusual sound for what was supposed to be an empty apartment.

He shared the apartment with Takao, but the man was supposed to be at his parents house. Maybe he had come back early? That still wouldn't explain who he was speaking to because he swore he heard someone else as well.

The voices cut off suddenly.

That was never a good sign, had they noticed him? And if they had, the fact that they felt the need to end the conversation that abruptly did not bode well for him.

Clutching his lucky charm for the day like a life line he quickly walked over, hoping to disrupt anything before it went too far.

At least he discovered who the other voice was, Kuroko Testuya, his friend and previous teammate.

That was not the most shocking part though.

On top of the couch Takao lay upon, a failed attempt to hold himself up had turned into a cage in which he had entrapped Kuroko with his body into the seat of the couch. Time froze for the green haired ace.

Clothes legs tangled together showing exactly where Takao had the height difference. His raventte's head had ended up nestled in the other's neck. Kuroko's chin was tilted upwards unintentionally giving a vulnerable appearance as his eyes had fluttered closed. The T-shirt worn by the former Teiko player had been dragged down accidentally revealing pale unmarked collarbones. His arm was the only thing not captured underneath the Shotoku player, still skinnier than most, but now the hidden strength within it was more visible. Midorima noted how his time with Serin was quite good with defining the muscles in his arms.

Takao body seemed to eclipse the smaller player despite having a medium build. The hawk eyed man had gained his trust, and partnership despite having a pendant for mischief. Midorima had no doubt that as soon as he saw "Shin-Chan's" friend he would have promptly invited them inside.

Never mind that, the man who commonly brings him to exasperation was causing a different kind of emotion as the shooter looked at the half open grey eyes. That unknowingly piercing analytical stare had saved them more than once, even against the man he was currently on top of. His troublemaker smile was missing, but Midorima knew that could easily change, and he wasn't stupid enough to encourage shenanigans when it already seemed to be a constant temptation for him.

He would never admit to that more often than not, being dragged into those same "shenanigans" would often lead to some of his best high school memories.

Midorima's cheeks warmed at what he considered the perfect blend of past, present, and future. He would never say it out loud, God forbid Takao suggest he has a thing for pass specialists, or even admit it inside. Still, the unintentional tangled mess was something that would appear in his dreams and unknowingly write in self on his heart.

Time unfroze as he watched a casual apology escape the lips of Takao as the man say upside climbed off the other. The bluenette easily accepted the accident and adjusted himself to properly sit on the coach. His eyes caught someone in the hallway.

"Hello Midorima-Kun."

"And here I thought you'd be saying this to me, welcome home Shin-chan" said Takao, an easy grin placing itself on his lips.

Midorima gulped and cleared his previous thoughts. He most definitely didn't want to give away any type of idea of what was going on in his mind.

Still, it was true. He loved the both of them, more than the platonic or even familial bond of teammates, and hopes he continues to receive their presence in his life.

Author note: this might not be Tsundre enough. But I can't think of anything otherwise.
