Training Isn't Just for Moemon: Platinum Star Ch. 1
AN: So, just to get some stuff out of the way...Unfortunately, Golden Days and Electric Boogaloo will most likely not have an ending. I did manage to beat the Elite Four during my Nuzlocke run of Golden Days, but the phone I was using with the Rom on it went kaput, and the save files were lost. Long story short, I don't have any of my moemon data regarding what happened to which moemon, battles, etc. So, for that I am deeply sorry. That being said, this story will be the start of a new branch of Training Isn't Just for Moemon in the Sinnoh region. Some day, I may attempt to go back through Electric Boogaloo on a new save file and just edit the chapters as I go, but that will most likely be a very long way off. That being said, let's get into it.
For this Nuzlocke the rules are as follows:
You may only catch the first moemon on a route. Grass and Fishing count as separate routes, as does each floor of a cave or building (so long as there's a transition between floors).
If a moemon faints, its dead. There is an exception to this in the clauses.
All moemon must be nicknamed upon catching them, so as to develop an emotional bond.
Clauses:
Duplicates Clause - If your first encounter would be a moemon you've already caught, an evolved form of said moemon, or a lower evolution of said moemon, it doesn't count as your first encounter. You can choose to catch said moemon, but if you do, it becomes your first encounter on that route.
Friendly Rival Clause - Barry and Dawn are friends of Vulpus, and as such, would hold back when fighting. moemon who faint in rival battles don't die, but are just knocked out.
Last Ditch Clause - (So call me a wimp, but I'm playing this on PokeMMO, which is incredibly difficult to Nuzlocke compared to a normal game.) If at any time your entire team would be wiped out in a single battle, the player may select one moemon to save, as a Last Ditch Effort to keep them alive.
Some things to note: For the sake of story; battles, evolutions, and deaths will be dramatized, and not necessarily how they happen in the play through.
All characters in the story are at least 18 years of age, or in the case of Moemon, are ageless and thus are at the age of consent. There will be sexual content in this story, including the possibility of offensive behaviors, non-consent, or odd fetishes. You have been warned.
As I finished unpacking my final box, I paused to wipe a bit of sweat from my forehead. I'd been working hard moving all this crap, and Sinnoh was a bit warmer than my home in Unova.
As I proceeded downstairs, I found my mother in the kitchen. She looked paler than usual, with sunken dark eyes. As she stared out the window, I could tell she was still hurting from all this.
"Mom?" I called.
She straightened with a start, not having heard me enter. Turning to me, she quickly tried to compose herself before offering a smile. "Hey Vulpus. Did you finish unpacking?"
I didn't respond to her question. Instead, I moved closer to her and took her hands in mine. "You're doing the right thing, Mom," I told her. "You know that Dad would never have changed. He wasn't loyal to you and he wasn't loyal to our family. Leaving was a good thing. Let him go be a gym leader in Hoenn. We'll start our own life, without him."
My mother raised her hand, cupping my cheek. "You're right, of course. I'm sorry I'm so out of it. I'm just glad I have you still."
"Of course, Mom. I'm not going anywhere."
There was suddenly a crash as our door burst open and a hyperactive kid with unruly blonde hair rushed up to me. "You must be Vulpus! I've heard so much about you. So your dad's a gym leader, huh? You must be a pretty big moemon fan too then. Oh my goodness we have so much to talk about. That reminds me, we should totally go check out this awesome lake right outside of town. There's a legendary moemon there, or so they say. Maybe we can catch it! Wait, to do that we'll need pokeballs. Then we should go to Sandgem and buy some there. Anyway, you should come over to my house, like right NOW. Then we can go to Sandgem together. Don't be late, or you'll owe me 10,000 pokedollars. Ok, bye!"
My mind reeled, trying to keep up with the verbal diarrhea that just came spewing from what I can only imagine was the local crackhead. "He sure is full of energy, isn't he?" my mother noted.
"Full of something. I think we should start locking our door from now on."
My mother gave me a gentle smile before ruffling my hair. "Actually, I think you should go with him. Twinleaf is small, so I doubt there are many kids your age around here."
"You're joking…"
"Not at all. You can't just dote on me for the rest of our lives. Besides, I could use some alone time."
"Okay...if you say so."
Hesitantly, I stepped outside and proceeded to Barry's house. I knocked on the door, to be greeted by a rather stout woman with brown hair that went down to her shoulders. His mom, if I had to guess. "Oh, hello! You must be our new neighbor. Barry is upstairs."
"Oh, thank you. My name is Vulpus, by the way."
"A pleasure to meet you, Vulpus."
As I reached the base of the stairs, I heard two thunks followed by Barry hurtling straight towards me. Without a thought, I stepped aside, causing him to slam shoulder first into the wall at the base of the stairs.
After recovering from his collision, he only then took notice of my presence. "Vulpus! You came! Awesome, let's do this. Follow me."
Without another word, he blew past me and raced out. Looking to his mother, I asked, "Is he always like this?"
"Afraid so. Don't worry though, he's got a good heart."
I'd take her word on it. Waving goodbye, I chased after him, only to find us standing before a sprawling field of tall grass. "This is the way towards Sandgem," he explained.
"Yeah, but how are we going to get across? We don't have any moemon."
"Well, if we make a lot of noise and run really fast, then we'll scare them away long enough for us to make it to Sandgem."
I looked at him incredulously. "I am almost certain that that's not how that works."
"Then there's still a chance it'll work."
"That's not what that means."
Still, Barry didn't want to listen. He took a few steps back to prepare for his mad sprint, but just as he was about to take off, a hand snagged the back of his shirt, causing him to fall flat on his back.
"You should listen to your friend." An old man loomed over Barry, dressed in a lab coat and with a scruffy moustache that twitched in visible irritation.
Barry's eyes grew wide as he stared up at him. "You're Professor Rowan! We were just about to come see you."
"Sorry, Professor. We were hoping to talk to you about moemon, but we didn't really have a way to get to Sandgem."
The professor stared at me with an incredible intensity, but I wouldn't flinch under his gaze. "Hmm, so you both want a moemon, is that it?" he questioned.
That wasn't even what I'd expected. Still, the offer of a moemon of my own was enough to send my mind racing with ideas. I could take the League challenge, maybe even become Champion.
"But giving a moemon to someone so stupid and ignorant, that would be highly irresponsible."
"Hey!" I snapped at him. "I'm not stupid or ignorant."
"I was referring to this one." The professor jerked his thumb at Barry. "But, I suppose if I didn't give him a moemon, he'd probably get himself killed. Quite the conundrum."
"Don't talk about me like I'm not here," Barry complained. "And I love moemon. I'll become the best trainer in Sinnoh, you'll see!"
Professor Rowan gave him a smug smirk. "I admire that fire of yours, young man. However, I doubt you'd be much of a trainer without a moemon. Very well, I shall give you each one. Dawn!"
"Coming, sir," a feminine voice called behind him.
My eyes fell upon the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen. She stood with elegant grace, wearing a black v-neck dress with pink trim. Her legs were bare, save the pink combat boots and black knee high stockings, that added a mix of fun and maturity.
My heart skipped a beat as she approached. In her hands, she carried a large leather-bound briefcase. "Sorry Professor, but you left your case at the lake. I had to go back and fetch it for you."
"How fortuitous," he noted. "Dawn, these young gentlemen will each be receiving a moemon from the case."
"I-I'm Vulpus." My introduction was far from smooth, and I'd hoped she wouldn't notice my blushing.
"Nice to meet you," she answered. She didn't even look my way as she turned around and bent over to set up the case. Oh my god, she was only wearing a thong under her skirt!
If anyone else noticed, they didn't say anything. Barry grabbed onto my shoulder in excitement. "This is it, Vulpus! We're getting moemon, can you believe it?"
That managed to shake me out of my entrancement. "I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting this to happen so soon after I got here. I always wanted to join the League, but never in my wildest dreams…"
Dawn had opened the case and turned around to regard me and Barry. "Professor, are you sure about this?" she questioned. "These moemon are one of a kind. Can we afford to give them to these amateurs?"
"Are they truly that rare?" I asked.
"Extensively," Rowan replied. "But worry not. I'm an excellent judge of character, and I'm sure that these two will be perfect caretakers for these moemon. Now boys, choose your destinies."
Our eyes fell upon the three pokeballs available for our selection. Exchanging a nervous glance with Barry, who nodded for me to go first, I stepped forward and placed my hand on a ball.
It felt cool to the touch, and when it opened, my eyes fell upon an adorable girl. The moemon wore a baby blue dress with white buttons on the front, and she had a blue cloak with a hood tucked over her matching blue hair. Her cobalt eyes were like deep, dark whirlpools able to suck in anyone who stared too long.
"Ah, so you've selected the Piplup, I see," the Professor commented.
"Yeah. She's the one I want." I hadn't even looked at the other two, but from the slightly shy way she peered up at me beneath her bangs, I had a feeling she and I would get along great.
"She'll need a name, of course," Dawn said.
Right, a name. As I continued staring into those whirlpools, it brought to mind the Greek monster Charybdis. But I wouldn't name such a cute thing after a bloated sack of air. It'd need to be something a bit more fitting. Chrissy would work just fine.
Chrissy was chosen.
Species: Piplup Level: 5 Given by Prof. Rowan
Nature: Bashful Ability: Torrent - Powers up Water moves in a pinch.
Moves: Pound, Growl.
"Then, I'll take this one," Barry chimed in, grabbing a ball of his own. Calling out the moemon, it revealed a young boy with dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail with a green ribbon. He carried a thick backpack on his shoulders, and wore green shorts and a shirt. He looked like a little explorer.
"That one is Turtwig."
"Hmm...Turtwig...I'll call him Twiggy." Barry immediately wheeled towards me and pointed his finger directly in my face. "Now that we both have moemon, you know what we have to do, Vulpus. I challenge you to a battle!"
So soon? Well, I wasn't one to back down from a challenge. "Alright, Barry, you're on."
Dawn rolled her eyes with a scoff. "Boys."
"Don't be like that, Dawn," Rowan lectured. "This is a wise course of action. It's only through the heat of battle that people can truly feel their compatibility with their pokemon."
"Okay, but like as soon as they get them? Not even so much as a howdy-do?"
"Just watch," he replied, his eyes sparkling.
I couldn't lose my first moemon fight. I refused. What's more, I was in front of Dawn, and I had to show off my prowess. "Chrissy, use pound!"
My Piplup rushed forward, striking towards Twiggy with her fist. He tried to leap back, but instead took a stern uppercut that left him wide open.
"Good Chrissy, don't let up! Go for a combo."
She struck again, this time using short jabs to take advantage of his exposed chest, but not before Barry cried back. "Twiggy, don't back away! Close the distance with tackle!"
The Turtwig dove forward, taking Chrissy with him to the ground. The two rolled around for a while, with my Piplup attempting to escape, and his Turtwig trying to hold on.
When she finally managed to slip out, she began wailing on him again, but Twiggy grabbed his backpack, using it to block her punches. "Good work, Twiggy!"
"Chrissy, try to find an opening. Don't wear yourself out."
Our moemon circled one another with Chrissy taking a defensive pose. Barry, however, mistook this for a lowering of her guard, rather than the raising of one.
"Now, Twiggy! Tackle her with your backpack!"
Twiggy cried out as he rushed towards Chrissy, but in a blur she moved around him, sticking her leg out to send him sprawling face first. "Finish it, Chrissy!"
"Yes, Master," she answered. Pouncing onto Twiggy's back, she raised her little fist high before slamming it down hard enough on his head that he fell limp over his backpack.
"Awesome work," I cheered, scooping her into my arms and putting her on my shoulder.
"Dang, I lost." Barry groaned before lifting up Twiggy. "But that's okay. I'll train Twiggy more and we'll take you down next time, Vulpus."
"That wasn't half bad," Dawn admitted, coming to my side. Pulling a spray bottle from her pocket, she squirted it onto my moemon's wounds, healing them. "Be sure to take good care of her. I think you have a keeper. Maybe someday, you and I can have our own battle."
"I'd like that," I said dreamily.
Dawn flashed me an amazing smile that was as dazzling as her namesake before going to help Barry's moemon.
Once both were healed up, the professor nodded his head approvingly. "Yes, I see now that I made a good choice with the two of you. Keep those moemon close to you, and with them you should be safe to explore the world as you see fit." Turning to his assistant, he nodded towards the overgrown path. "Dawn, let's return to the lab. Their battle has inspired me."
"Yes, sir," she chimed before following dutifully after him.
Despite myself, I found my gaze following after her, bouncing in time with the way her hips wiggled beneath that low cut dress. God, what I'd give to know her better.
I was awoken from my pining when Barry snapped his fingers in front of me. "Earth to Vulpus. You in there?"
"Huh? Yeah, sorry."
"No problem, I know exactly how you're feeling."
"Y-you do?"
Barry nodded. "It's like a dream, isn't it? It's still hard to believe that we got our very own moemon. Rare ones from Professor Rowan, at that! It was just this morning that I worried I'd be stuck here forever."
"Oh, yeah. Totally." I couldn't tell him the real reason for my stupor. I really didn't know Barry well, but I had the feeling he wasn't the best at keeping secrets. Forget sinking ships. His lips were so loose, they'd send an entire armada to the bottom of the ocean.
"Anyway, I'm going to head home to show off my moemon. Want to meet early tomorrow to go exploring?" His voice was dripping with eager hope.
I considered it for a moment. Well, hyper and loud mouthed he may be, but his mom was right. He seemed to have a good heart, at the least. I could do worse choosing friends. "Sure thing, Barry. First thing tomorrow."
"Awesome. Thanks man." He dashed off before coming to a sudden stop. "Oh, and Vulpus?"
"Yeah?"
A big, goofy grin stretched across his face. "Thanks for trying to stop me from running into the tall grass. I'm glad you've got my back."
"Anytime," I promised.
And in an instant, he was gone, having rushed back home. Was Barry even capable of walking like a normal human being?
Turning back to Chrissy, I smiled at her. "So, how'd I do in our fight? I hope I impressed you as much as you impressed me."
The quiet Piplup nodded fervently. "Very. I'm still new at fight, but you guide me well. Feels like I can win, no matter what."
"Let's keep it up then. Starting tomorrow, you and I are going to train to become the champions. I hope you'll stick with me all the way to the top."
Her cheeks turned rosy as she stuck out her pinky finger towards me. "It's a promise, Master. Let's go all the way to the top."
I linked my pinky with hers before helping her to clamber back up on my shoulder. Together we trekked back to my home, where the lights were still on, waiting for us.
As I opened the door, I froze in shock. There in the living room, my mother was stark naked, pleasuring herself with no semblance of shame. In her other hand, she held a picture of my father. "Please," she panted. "Please, I'm sorry. I've been bad, I know, but please, let me just have one more taste. Just another load, and I promise I'll be good again."
"Mom?!"
The picture fell to the ground with a crash, sending the glass cover skittering across the floor. She quickly pulled her hand from her panties, trying to hide the gleaming fluids behind her back while she attempted to stammer out an excuse. "S-sorry, Honey. I didn't realize you'd be home so soon. Did you have a good t-time?"
"Mom, do you miss him?!"
"Oh, sweetheart…" She went to approach me, but realizing her current state, elected to just stay where she was instead. "Yes, of course I miss him. I did love him after all, you know?"
"But he didn't love us!" I argued. "Why are you so stuck on him? There are dozens, no thousands of guys who would treat you better than he did."
My mother smiled weakly, as if to apologize. It was then that she spotted Chrissy for the first time. "Is that a moemon? Where in the world did you find her?" Forgetting her previous embarrassment, she came closer to get a better look. "Oh, and she's such a cutie too!"
My Piplup blushed brightly at the praise, burying her face in my neck to try to hide it. "Mom, this is Chrissy. Professor Rowan gave her to me. Barry and I were going to go ask him questions in Sandgem, but I guess he was doing some research out here or something."
"See, I told you you'd make a new friend," she beamed. My mom ruffled Chrissy's hair. "I hope you told Professor Rowan thank you."
The realization set in in an instant. "Oh my gosh, I forgot to thank him! I must have gotten so wrapped up in my battle with Barry that it slipped my mind."
My mother's expression became stern as she put her hands on her hips. "Vulpus Elunal, I taught you better than that. Well, then you don't have much choice. You and Barry will just have to go to him tomorrow and thank him for your moemon."
"Yes, ma'am."
While I did feel bad, I brightened when I realized that this gave me an excuse to spend more time with Dawn. Perhaps she'd have some advice for me about training Chrissy. Maybe, I could even take her out on a date.
"That's not everything, is it?" My mom had a big grin on her face.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I know that look on your face. You're thinking of someone."
She could tell?! Despite my attempts to hide my blushing cheeks, my mother came beside me and nudged me with her elbow.
"C'mon. Spill the beans. Who's the lucky girl? Or guy. I won't judge."
"Her name is Dawn," I surrendered. "She's Professor Rowan's assistant."
"Ooh. That's a cute name. And if she's working for Rowan, she must be pretty smart too. Sounds like she could be a keeper."
Now I was even more embarrassed. "Mom, I haven't even been on a date with her yet. I doubt she even knows I like her. We literally just met today."
"Well, if she's as amazing as you say she is, you'd better move quick. You don't want some other guy to snatch her out from under you, do you?"
I pondered what my mother was saying. Was she right? I worried that being too forward would be a turn off, but maybe that's what I needed to do.
"I'll sleep on it," I told her. "But it's getting late. I'll help you clean up this glass, and then I'm going to hit the hay. I need to get up early with Barry tomorrow anyway."
So, with that, I swept up the remains of the broken picture frame, while my mom tenderly lifted the picture of my father off the ground. Though she tried to keep it from me, it didn't escape my notice how she clutched it to her chest.
I didn't understand. I couldn't understand. It was obvious he never loved my mother, and I doubted he ever loved me either. Why was she so hung up on him?
Still, everyone heals differently. That's what I told myself, at least. This was harder for her, and it only struck me then that maybe my dad was her Dawn. If that was the case, then it made some sense.
"Alright, I'm off to bed. Good night, Mom." I gave a yawn as I headed up the stairs, Chrissy scampering behind me to keep up.
"Good night, Vulpus. Sweet dreams."
As I lay in my bed, the first night having moved into a new house, the world felt so alien. And yet...I couldn't help but feel like I was exactly where I belonged.
