Hey everyone. This is my first miraculous fanfic in a while and I hope you enjoy this. My sister and I watched the French dub with English subs, and because I felt so heartbroken after the episode, I decided to write a Lukanette fic. My sister gave me the prompt "Wish Lanterns", and so this was born.

His larger frame envelops her smaller one, his arms holding her in a protective embrace as they sway to the music from his heart.
His voice lulls her and all her troubles disappear. She's content to remain forever in his arms. Just for the moment, they're not in Paris but a world of their own. A world where she doesn't have to be anyone but herself, a world where she can be who she wants to be, a world where it's burden is not placed on her young shoulders.
"Marinette." The whisper of her name is enough to bring her out of her thoughts. "Your tune changed. Are you ok?"
He felt her tense, her heart's rhythm becoming even more erratic with every step they took. He pulls them apart, taking a moment to brush some of the fallen snow off her hair and place a gentle kiss on her head.
"Ye-yeah." She stutters out, but he knows better.
He holds her close once again, changing the tune to one he knows will always soothe her. Her heart calms enough for it to return to it's all too familiar melody. His melody.
He cherishes it. He cherishes every moment they spend together.
To him, she's a butterfly, beautiful and unique. Her music is sweet, alluring, like nothing he's ever heard before, and if he could only hear one thing for the rest of his life, he would chose her song.
He gently holds her hands in his. He misses it's warmth underneath the gloves, but he wouldn't dare to leave her unprotected against the cold winter night.
She looks up at him, her bluebell eyes meeting his azure ones. He finds himself loss in their depths. It's as if he can see her soul; it's beauty, tenderness, kindness, all wrapped up in one enchanting package. He feels lucky to call her his.
He gives her a quick kiss, taking the moment she closes her eyes to slip something out of the picnic basket. He carefully unfolds it and places it into her unexpecting hands.
Her eyes blink open, her fingers curling around the strange object before realisation dawns on her.
"A lantern?" She stares at the wiry frame wrapped in delicate yellow paper.
"Happy Fête des Lumières, Marinette." He gives her a soft smile. "What Festival of Lights would it be without lanterns?"
"Thanks Luka." Whispering into his ear, she gives him a hug. "I love it."
"And I love you Marinette." He whispers back.
"And you know these aren't just ordinary lanterns." He reminds her, procuring a pen from his back pocket. "These are wish lanterns."
She nods and takes a pen, moving to write her wish. When she's done, they light up both their lanterns and watch as they dance into the night sky.
"What did you write on your lantern, Luka?" She asks him, leaning her head on his shoulder as the lanterns become one with the stars.
"Don't you know that if you tell someone your wish, it won't come true, Ma-ma Marinette?" He teases her, a small smile playing on his lips. "But I didn't write anything."
"What? Why?"
"Because I already have my wish." He holds her to him. "You are my wish."
They lay on the snow, hands held tightly together as their bodies press close for warmth. They watch the lanterns gliding gracefully through the sky, laughing as they see one overtake the other before the latter catches up. It's a game of snake and mouse, the snake trying to catch the words the mouse is trying to say.
'I wish I could tell you the truth... I am Ladybug.'
And this has been an AngelFanfics productions.
