Donna groaned wearily, and silenced her alarm. It was always the same dream, different scenarios but the same result, all the time. A man hidden in a silhouette: something old, something ancient, something borrowed. A mystery. Every time she got close enough, he would disappear. She was so close to finding out who he was, who she was. Who is Donna Noble? She opened her eyes wearily and squinted in the morning light.

Donna sighed and dragged herself out of bed. It was just another day in her boring life. Eat, work, sleep. She was damn proud of being the best temp in Chiswick, but there were times when she wanted to do more, as if she could be a part of something bigger in life. 'Stop kidding yourself Donna Noble' she chastised before she splashed cold water over her face.

She could hear her mother in the kitchen rattling about, and the morning news blasting through their ratty old television that her granddad did not want to part with.

"Donna, make sure to collect granddad's parcel from the post office on your way back from work" her mother shouted from the kitchen.

"No need to shout, I can hear you just fine" Donna replied, just as loud, and swore when she accidentally crashed into kitchen doorframe.

"Well, someone got off the wrong side of the bed this morning." her mother replied sarcastically, before gesturing to a brown paper bag on the kitchen counter. "Made you lunch, god knows how much junk food young people consume nowadays." she continued.

Donna just scowled in response and swiped her car keys from the counter.

"Where's granddad?" she asked.

"Still sleeping" her mother replied tensely.

Donna raised an eyebrow. Her granddad was usually the first one awake.

"Well, you know," her mother replied anxiously, "he was up all night watching the news like everyone else." She was being extremely vague, as if not wanting to mention any 'trigger' words as the Doctor mentioned.

There were rumours for the past week of alien activity in London, and everyone was talking about the same thing.

"Everyone has gone barmy! Aliens from outer-space. What a joke." Donna scoffed in dismay.

For a second Sylvia froze, and thought her daughter was going to faint at any moment when she heard the word 'Aliens'. She sighed in relief when nothing happened and took a deep breath.

"Just stay safe" she told her daughter.

"Yeah, yeah. Going to be late for work." Donna shouted as she ran out of the house, leaving Sylvia deep in her thoughts.
