Author's Notes

Hi All! Welcome to my first ever fanfiction! This idea has been floating around in my head for quite some time now and been bugging me forever now! In the end I finally decided to write it! Here is the first arc which is kind of the 'Prologue' to the story.

Don't worry, there will be elements of the cannon in this story, but the first parts of the story will mostly focus on Naruto growing up in the village hidden within nature. The reason for Naruto and his parents moving to the Leaf will be explained later.

Of course, some of the characters like Naruto himself will be quite OOC, possibly some character bashing which is quite evident in the first chapter here. I also have some OC characters planned out! So look forward to that!

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto; it is the property of Masashi Kishimoto. If I did own it, it would be a little like this story. Also, the OC characters that will be introduced later in the series belong to me.

Anyways, enjoy the story!

The nine tailed fox, also known as the Kyuubi No Kitsune, is the most powerful of the nine. Residing in the land of fire, the giant calamity wondered the earth destroying everything in its path. That's what many people thought, however, those rumours are completely false. Kurama is an ordinary fox; Orange fur, elongated canines, sharp claws, whisker marks on his furry cheeks and of course the jewel that represents his life: The Hoshi No Tama. It shines a bright radiant red that can send shivers down anybody's spine, orbiting him elegantly. From time to time it vanishes at will, or at obedience from its master's command; Kurama. That is the fox's name. His nine tails swaying behind him gently, like the leaves attached to the trees through the morning breeze. He wondered the land of fire through its dense and wild forests of green without a care in the world. From time to time he would come across his own kind, bowing to him respectfully because of his status. However, these wild foxes were normal, sensing no Yoki within them. Was it ever mentioned that Kurama was the leader of his own clan? Yes, the Kitsune Clan. The clan head is the nine-tailed fox himself. That is why foxes of different kinds; Youkai or not, bow to him, as Kurama is technically the king of foxes, and holds the title of Biju none the less. No other fox can be a match for him! All expect one…

While Kurama was on his way back to his village, he stumbled upon a beautiful clearing with a magnificent view. Flowers of different types blossomed ranging from many colours. It was the most stunning thing he ever saw! Was he in heaven? Kurama slowly made his way into the meadow of beauty, making sure to not step onto any of the precious and rare flowers that were peacefully swaying in the light breeze. The reflection from the sun gave the field a glow as the rays hit the earth. It was like he was in a trance, smelling the fresh clean air of the wilderness, with a touch of the aroma the flowers gave off. The smell was intoxicating. Soon after, Kurama reached the centre of the field. What he saw, was probably the most beautiful thing in the whole wide world; A ten tailed fox laid there peacefully on top of a flat piece of stone. surrounded by the magical flowers. It had pearl white fur, with ruby red markings running all the way from its tails to the forehead, which is shaped like a red diamond. Kurama's mouth was hanging open in shock, he heard the legends of the ten tailed fox, but he never thought that he would see one in his entire life! And here he thought he was the most powerful Kitsune of all… until the beauty he just met came along.

"Do you need something? Or are you just going to gawk all day at my form?" She tiredly and teasingly asked the awed fox in front of her while yawning and stretching in order to banish away her sleep.

"No! No, no! I didn't mean to disturb you I…" Kurama stuttered, trying to avert her gaze as much as possible to hide his barely visible, ever-growing cherry pink blush behind his orange fur.

As soon as she finally stood up majestically, jumped off the rock gracefully and landing on to the soft earth into the field of flowers… started uncontrollably giggling at his antics. "It's quite alright dear, in fact I was waiting for something interesting to happen for a while since I'm so bored out of my mind!" she confessed through her fit of giggles.

When Kurama managed to get his bearings straight, he decided to finally let his voice be heard. "I hope I was enough entertainment for you" He joked, while also allowing a small laugh to come through.

The heavenly ten tailed fox finally managed to calm herself down, by taking a few long and deep breaths of fresh air that mindlessly drifted through the field of rainbow. It was an awkward silence for a moment, with Kurama and the ten tailed fox staring at each other for a while, until she spoke up, annoyed by the almost endearing silence. "Come, I would like to show you something" she said, motioning for Kurama to follow her with her tails to which he obliged.

"Where are you taking me?" Kurama asked.

"You'll see" was her only answer.

As she walked, the field of rainbow opened a path for her. It was an amazing sight, like nature is following her every command. Is it possible that mother nature's best friends with this legendary fox? Or was it just her making the path as to not hurt this beautiful plain? Kurama will never know.

As they approached the edge of the rainbow field, Kurama widened his eyes at the sight; A lone Sakura tree in full bloom, just sitting there, swaying to the rhythm of the wind, petals of the flowers falling and riding the light currents of invisible air. He has never seen anything like it, not realising that he stopped walking until she called out to him from underneath the tree itself. She was laying there, blending in perfectly with the landscape of rainbow colours. "Are you just going to stand there all day marvelling at the scene or maybe you would mind finally joining me?" she asked him. Kurama didn't have anything to say, so he just lightly nodded, walked over to the tree, and laid next to her. They continued to stare at each other, their true feelings showing; love. Love at first sight. The silence was a comfortable one this time, but Kurama decided to break it.

"So um… why have you brought me here exactly?" He asked, curiosity evident in his voice.

As a response she looked forward, marvelling at the sight from where they are and engraving it into her mind. Kurama decided to do the same, and what he saw was going to be engraved in his memory forever. Below them in the distance; was a village, and that village had traditional Japanese style houses spanning across a few acres, blending in with the great oak trees well, decorated by nature with many flowers, Sakura trees and a pretty wide river which sparkled from the sun's rays separating half of the village. What connects the two sides, is a great bridge, which goes over the entire river. At the end of the entire village stood a building which looks to be where the leader of a village would reside. The first layer was made out of pure bronze, the second layer silver and the top layer made out of pure gold. It looked to be some sort of temple, well cared for. In two corners of the village, resided a bell tower taller than the temple itself. The people down below were little specs, but from the two fox's enhanced vision, they can see that they were all wearing traditional style clothing. Each person below had fox ears and tails, with tails ranging from one to six. With some rare occurrences having seven or eight. But never nine or ten.

Kurama couldn't believe it! He was staring right down at the Kitsune village! His own village! This is his home! Oh how he missed his village so much… he quickly spun his head around to see the white and red fox in the same situation as him, but never mind that! All he cared about was going back home, and just say hello to everyone he knows! Which is technically everybody. The village looks as clean and peaceful as ever. Kurama decided to break the silence once more. "That right there, is the Kitsune village, also known as the village, hidden in nature, or Shizen Ni Kakusareta-Mura" He explained. "It is also my home" He finished.

"If only the humans could live together in harmony like that" She finally responded after being silent for some time. "You are a great leader" She complimented.

Kurama blushed slightly at the praise. "Thank you uh…" he trailed off.

"Inari" she finished for him. Kurama's eyes widened at the name but quickly relaxed after. "Sorry for not introducing myself earlier, how rude of me" the heavenly fox now known as Inari said in disappointment.

"It's fine" Kurama forgave her. "My name is Kurama" he introduced himself. Now it was Inari's turn to be shocked at the name. He smirked in amusement at her reaction. Then she lightly blushed.

"That's a nice name" She said.

"Suits you well" She finished.

"I think your name is cute" Kurama complimented.

"Definitely brings out the charm you know?" He finished.

"You're so flattering Kurama" She heavily blushes and giggles a bit, trying to turn away from embarrassment. Kurama decided to let a genuine and gentle smile through.

"Want me to show you around the village?" He asks her. He waits a little while Inari gets her bearings straight through deep relaxing breaths.

"Sure Kurama-Kun, lead the way" She responds happily.

"You want to fly or take it slow?" He asks again while blushing slightly at the nickname she gave him.

"I want to take it slow; I want to take in the beauty of nature you know?" She responds.

"Sure thing, follow me" Kurama gestures for her to follow him and she obliged immediately.

'This is also going to be like our first official date!' They shouted in their minds at the same time while internally blushing at the company of one another. They're alone together, and no one can disturb them!

They have arrived. The torii gates are towering above them. The doors themselves to the Kitsune village were made out of the great oak wood. Having an orange fox head as the symbol right in the centre. Inari and Kurama were standing in front of them, the sight never getting old for him and for her, well, let's just say she's been complete awestruck by the piece of architecture. They were now in their hanyou forms; Inari had an elegant white kimono with intricate patterns of red, her hair is a long and snowy white which goes down to about her waist, with heavenly white ears attached to her head to match. Her heavenly white tails with intricate red designs which connected to the red tips at the end swung gently behind her, intertwining with Kurama's pure orange ones like they're in a silent dance. Inari had bright blue slitted eyes, as blue as the clear sky itself. She held a white fan with pink intricate designs of flowers in her left hand, while held Kurama's hand gently with her right.

Kurama however, was a different story. He had a completely dusk orange kimono with intricate black markings, his hair was a complete blood red, slightly spiky at the top and then straightening out at the back. It might not be as long as Inari's, but his hair barely touches the half-way point of his back. His dark orange ears at the top of his head to contrast the red hair. His slightly brighter orange tails are swinging behind him gently, responding to Inari's invitation by engaging them in a silent dance. Kurama had ruby red slitted eyes, which show no mercy to anyone they come across, but right now held a gentle gaze. The whisker marks on his cheeks are clearly present and visible, three on each side. His claws slightly elongated since he uses them as weapons most of the time. He held Inari's hand with his left gently.

"Amazing" Inari whispered under her breath. However, thanks to Kurama's enhanced hearing, he heard her perfectly. Earning a small chuckle from him.

"What's so funny about that?" She playfully pouted.

"You haven't seen everything the village has to offer, once you do, you'll be in for the biggest surprise of your life" He responded with a grin on his face.

She wanted to say something but was interrupted by a stern male voice from above. "We are the hunters" The strange voice said.

"And you are the prey" Kurama responded and waited.

"What?" Inari asked but Kurama stopped her before she could continue.

The wooden gates suddenly started to slowly slide open, the fox head symbol splitting in half. What Inari saw after, would leave her in a state of surprised shock for a while. Kurama smirked at that. He knew that was going to happen eventually.

What stands in front of them is a magnificent forest: Sky high trees, flowers of different kinds, natural landmarks and of course, Sakura trees here and there. The most amazing thing about this village? Is that the sun's transparent rays of gold that manage to break through give the village a completely magical feel! It's like a fairy tale! Combined with the casual fireflies that come and go as they please while they glow here and there? It's the most amazing and mesmerising thing in the world! Oh! Can't forget about the Kitsune Bi lamps that light some darker parts of streets! How in the world do the houses here blend in with nature so perfectly?! Mountain homes, tree houses and normal houses that stand out completely. This feeling of peace, it's overpowering. She now has a new respect for Kurama and the entire Kitsune clan for building this masterpiece. It must've been a lot of hard work and effort!

"Inari?" Kurama asked, concern evident in his voice.

"Oh! Sorry! Sorry, Sorry!" She bowed her head in apology, earning a chuckle from Kurama and the other nearby Kitsune that overheard their conversation.

"Spacing out and thinking on how amazing the village hidden in nature is?" He asked her.

Inari nodded her head in response.

"I told you that you would be in the biggest surprise of your life" Kurama said with a grin on his face once more.

"That would be an understatement Kyuubi-Sama" An aged and slightly croaky voice said from in front of them.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that Han?" Kurama sighed as he let himself look at one of the members of the elder council.

"My apologies Kurama-Sama, I'm getting old you see" The now named Han responded apologetically.

"I forgot that is what the humans call you" Han added.

Han is an old man with short dark grey hair with light grey ears to contrast, with wrinkly skin and hazel brown slitted eyes. He wears glasses so he could see better and holds a cane in his right hand to hold himself upright. He also wears a traditional black bathrobe that covers all of his body except his slightly visible and hairless chest in the middle, with his two light grey tails swinging behind him at a snail's pace. He also wears traditional shinobi sandals.

"Don't even get me started with them" Kurama grimaced, a scowl clearly showing on his face.

"They are the worst kind of race in existence, we never speak of them in our village" He added.

Inari slightly nodded her head in agreement but had to voice her opinion.

"I don't think that they are all bad, of course there are some good ones that come along. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm not here to judge anybody. Although, I do like to think of everyone as equals" She said.

Han's and Kurama's eyes widened at her speculation on the subject but didn't object or argue her opinion. Everyone's opinions matter weather good or bad, they're one of the crucial matters to the village itself and its survival.

"Who is this young lady that you have brought to this village Kurama-Sama?" Han asked out of curiosity.

"She wasn't 'brought' here, she was invited to live in this village by me personally" He responded professionally.

"My name's Inari" She introduced herself.

"The goddess of foxes, fertility, rice, tea and sake, agriculture and prosperity" She explained.

"And my official mate" Kurama added with a smirk on his face as Inari blushed furiously.

"I see, congratulations Kurama-Sama and Inari-Sama" Han congratulated them.

"I will leave you two alone now, enjoy your time in the village Inari-Sama" Han said as he disappeared in a flash of fox fire without weaving a single hand sign.

"Shall we?" Kurama offered his hand to her.

"Yes, we shall" She responded while accepting his invitation.

The day felt like it was completely sped up, because as soon as it started, it was over. Right now, the two were in the Kitsune family residence, preparing to say goodbye to today and say hello to tomorrow. Inari and Kurama were right now in the living room, sitting on their knees at a short table made of enchanted glass, praying to Kami for keeping them safe as well as thanking her on how much fun they had.

"Itadakimasu!" They both said at the same time at the end of their prayer, before they started chowing down on their food, moving to sit in a more comfortable way. In which for them was cross-legged. Kurama decided to turn on the tv, a classic 90's tv with a cassette player on top of it, skimming through channels to see which films or shows they both would like. He then decided to stop at one, which they both found quite intriguing. It was a musical drama film with touches of romance and slight action. Musicals were more of Inari's thing, but Kurama liked more action style films. However, he'll do whatever he needs to make her happy. That's how devoted Kitsune usually are to their partners. He knows she would do the same for him.

"Did you have fun today?" Kurama asked gently as he wrapped his right arm around her in a hug and leaned his head against her left shoulder.

"Yes" she responded in a happy, gentle, and tired voice. A smile ran across her face as she responded by wrapping her left arm around him in a hug and leaned her head against his.

They both remained silent for a while. Remembering the fun they had today; from beginning to end. It was a blast! Something that they would remember forever.

Flashback

From exploring the different landmarks and taking images of these memories with a camera, going for a walk in the natural reserve park with many wild animals she has never seen before, as well as occasional friendly Youkai coming by to say hello, visiting the great bell towers, the infamous torii bridge that connects the two sides of the village together with the sparkling river flowing underneath singing to the tune that mother nature provided it. Of course they went to different fun little attractions that the village offered. Near the end of the day, they went to one of the most popular and expensive restaurants there is and ate there with no one to disturb them.

Inari decided to break the silence of their little moment of remembrance, getting up and putting their dishes and empty cups that used to be filled with green tea into the sink. "I hope that someday we will be able to have this much fun again" she was sounding sad and hopeful at the same time.

"Don't worry my love, we will" he whispered reassuringly into her white fluffy ear as he came up behind her, wrapped his hands around her stomach and kissed her neck in a polite and gentle manner.

Inari blushed heavily and moaned as well as purred slightly in pleasure at her mate's actions, struggling to hide her inner temptations and intentions.

Kurama let her go in which he saw the disappointed look in her face. He smirked at that, blushing slightly at what he just unintentionally did. Possibly due to instincts kicking in.

It happened so fast, that his mind couldn't catch up or comprehend to what was going on. He saw Inari very close to him, but what she was doing surprised him completely. She was kissing him! Right on the lips even! Kurama decided to embrace her fully, accepting her invitation. They continued to do this for a while, until departing and panting slightly from their first kiss. Smiling at each other happily and tiredly, they decided to head off to the master bedroom made for two lovers.

Doing their daily evening routines, taking in turns of going to the bathroom to give each other their privacy, then dressing into their traditional Yukatas for the night. Slipping into bed while lighting the candles with their own Kitsune Bi at their own small bedside desk, they turned to face each other making a promise that will never break them apart.

"Together forever?" Inari asked.

"Together forever" Kurama responded truthfully.

End Of Chapter

What do you think of this story? Don't forget, this is my first time ever writing a fanfiction.

This was to give a bit of background on what the story is going to be about, without giving to much away ya know?

Also, one thing that I forgot to mention was that instead of Yoki, which is the energy that Youkai use, Inari has Holy energy (I have no idea what to call it yet, you can suggest names for it in the reviews). Obviously for youkai and holy beings such as Inari, chakra is their secondary source.

One last thing before anyone mentions it in the reviews; Kurama isn't a Biju in this is story but a full Kitsune Youkai, the reason he is given the title Biju is because of his insane amount of Chakra and Yoki that he holds. Which is practically near infinite.

Notice: That little thing at the gate of the village with the "We are the hunters, and you are the prey" saying is like a security code, to make sure that the right people are let into the village, and not an enemy. Kurama is adamant in keeping his village safe!

Constructive criticism will obviously be considered, flames will definitely be ignored, positive reviews are greatly appreciated and ideas for the story will be also considered.

Please read, favourite, follow and review.

See you in the next chapter!
