"You sure you don't want me to give you a lift?" Daisy rolled her eyes as her dad lingered behind her, waiting for her reply. He always did this in the morning, hounding her with questions.

"I'm fine dad I promise, shouldn't you be at work by now?" She sighed as she packed her bag for school. She was not looking forward to her day. She was hoping she would wake up with a terrible fever and be able to have the day off but even then her dad would be more overbearing so maybe it was best that she could escape to school.

"I'm starting a little later today so I'll be home at around nine, there's some stuff in the fridge for dinner or I can give you some money, you can get something on the way home if you want, chippy?" He raised a brow with his question.

"It's fine, I'll have whatever's in" she shrugged and slung her bag over her shoulder, ready to leave. It had been a year since the rape case of Trish Winterman and ever since then Alec had become more protective of Daisy. When the case had closed, he wasn't keen on her going out at all and insisted on her keeping him updated on her whereabouts.

Daisy understood he was anxious but she couldn't take it. His overprotectiveness was stopping her from living her life. But when your dad is the top detective inspector, there's nothing you can do or say to make him change his mind. After those first few months, he had gradually started to lower the reins and let her go out with friends but it didn't mean he was happy about it. If it was up to him he would have her in the house twenty-four seven but he knew that would just push Daisy away.

However he insisted on her texting him, whenever she went out, he wanted her to text him when she arrived and when she was leaving so he knew that if she was taking a long time, then something would be wrong.

Knowing that a boy at her school, who had a naked photo of his daughter on his phone was a rapist and that he was in close proximity to her frightened him and he didn't want to have to go through that same ordeal but with his daughter. He wouldn't be able to sleep at night if something like that happened to her.

"Alright, well just text me when you get to school alright" Alec nodded to her.

"Yes, dad you say that every day, I promise I will" she groaned and Alec sighed. He knew Daisy was frustrated but he wasn't going to let his guard down for a second. If he did and something happened to her, he would never forgive himself.

"Look I know you think I'm being a pain in the arse but I can't have something happen to you… I'd never forgive myself" he said softly which made Daisy feel guilty inside.

"I know" she whispered and stepped forward, hugging her dad and resting her head in his chest. Alec wrapped his arms around her, pulling her tightly into his embrace and resting his chin on her head before pressing a kiss there.

"I love you so much" he whispered and she pulled away, giving him a soft smile.

"I should go, I'll see you later, have a good day at work" she said and Alec nodded, letting her go and Daisy turned to leave, looking over her shoulder one last time.

"Love you" she said and Alec smiled, watching his daughter leave. His chest tightened slightly as his fears came back but he took a deep breath and relaxed.

She'll be fine

It was getting warmer in Broadchurch and the wind was cooling on Daisy's face as she made her way down the foot trail, her blonde hair blowing behind her. Her school was about 20 minutes away and the walk was peaceful.

She had just joined sixth form and her studies were getting harder. She hadn't decided completely what she wanted to do but she knew it was something to do with healthcare. She had always admired nurses and the idea of becoming one was appealing to her. Daisy smiled to herself, thinking back to the time where she said to her dad that she was thinking of becoming a police officer and he immediately shut down that idea.

She was only joking and she knew he would kick off about it.

Sweetheart trust me, you do not want to do this job, the things you have to go through can change your life and besides I forbid it.

She had picked the right subjects for a career in nursing; science, health and social care and child development. She had always been a science type of girl and in her GCSE she had all A's. She was enjoying school a lot more now then from when she first came here. It was during the rape case where her phone was stolen by some boys and a picture she had of herself had been sent round. She was so embarrassed and wanted to leave and go live with her mum but after Alec had teared into the boys responsible, she stayed.

Luckily those boys didn't bother her again and she wasn't surprised. If it were her taking a blocking from DI Hardy, she would be afraid to even step foot in the school. She had made so many good friends and was actually starting to like it down here. It was different from her mums home but she liked it.

Daisy rounded the corner and stepped down the wooden steps, landing on the grass of the field. She took a glance over her shoulder, checking to see if anyone was about before making her away down the bushes.

Her shoes crunched in the long grass and luckily she was wearing jeans otherwise the grass would prick her legs. As she neared the familiar spot, she looked up and smiled, her walk coming to a halt as she reached the person she was intending to see.

"Hey" arms wrapped around her as the tall boy pulled her close to him, leaning his head down. His hands rounded on her behind and Daisy looked up in awe, her hands wrapping around his neck.

"Hey" she whispered and the two pressed their lips together, a soft kiss between them as their foreheads rested on each other. His hazel eyes gleamed in the sunlight and his brown hair blew to the side as the wind crashed against them. He smelled amazing, as if he had a shower and put on cologne. His muzzle was scratchy but Daisy liked it like that, the hair scratching against her cheek.

"I missed you" he whispered and she giggled. He always said this.

"I only saw you yesterday" she said and he shrugged.

"Yeah but you had to go didn't you, I couldn't have you for very long".

"Well, I have good news, my dad is working late tonight so we can see each other after school, maybe you could even come round, he said he'll be home at nine so we have until then really" she said and the boy pulled back, smiling.

"I thought you said you wanted to be careful?" He raised his brows and she groaned.

"Jay…" he laughed softly and lifted his finger to brush a piece of hair from her eyes.

"I know babe, alright text me when you're finished at school, I'll come pick you up" he said and Daisy smiled.

"Okay, pick me up at the corner yeah, don't want someone seeing us" she said.

"Yes, I know, you said it before, and besides I don't particularly want to be torn apart by DI Hardy" he smiled.

"You should probably have your will made, you never know what might happen" Daisy joked.

"Well, thank you for the support" he said sarcastically and Daisy giggled.

"It will be fine, he said he's not coming home till nine so we have ages, as long as you're gone before he's anywhere near the house he won't know" Jay trailed his finger up Daisy's arm, his hand brushing against her neck and he cupped her, leaning down to press a kiss to her.

"Do you need to text him?" He asked and she nodded.

"I don't think he'll ever let that go" she sighed and Jay gave her a soft smile.

"He is only looking out for you" he shrugged and Daisy glared up at him.

"I know but I'm old enough to look after myself now, anyway it's easier not to argue and just do it" she groaned.

"I'm sure he'll lighten up" he kissed her again, their noses rubbing against each other.

"Have a good day at school baby" he whispered and she smiled.

"See you later" Daisy said and she pulled away from his arms, turning back to her route to school.
