Chapter 1: Reaper Rapper
Ina opened her eyes to a white ceiling and a massive headache. She sat up and grabbed her phone before checking her emails and finding a new commission, she got up and made her way over to the nearby art tablet before starting her drawing.
A pair of dark blue eyes gave a careful gaze down to the tablet on her lap, strokes from the electronic pencil carefully creating an image she could be proud of. Slowly but surely the image of a mage using eldritch magic was finished.
The girl gave herself a pat on the back and saved her work before sending a quick message to the company that had commissioned her. After that was finished she stretched and made her way over to her television and turned it on. Immediately the headline grabbed her attention.
Breaking: Atlantean Troops breakthrough Coalition blockade, European cities under siege.
Ina swallowed after a moment and turned her attention to what the news anchor was saying.
"You heard it correctly folks, Atlantean troops have finally broken through the Coalition fleet after twenty years of fighting," He wiped the sweat off his face and continued, "As of present we have also gotten word that the thousands of soldiers and civilians alike have gone missing, we still don't know their motive but hope that coalition forces will be able to stop them soon enough!"
The artist raised an eyebrow, something about that didn't seem right. Her headache grew worse. With an irritated sigh, Ina had enough and turned the television off and grabbed her tablet, and heading outside. She needed fresh air.
She made her way through the city before finding a well-lit nearby park with a playground. Luckily no one seemed interested to play on it today, Ina used this as her chance and sat down, using this as her reference.
Drawing helped her think and calm down in times like this. The Olympians were super-powered beings that had been assembled to fight against the elites of Atlantis if they were gone…
She shook her head and focused on the slide, trying to get the curve correct. Erasing it what seemed like thousands of times before it was perfect. With a smile to herself, Ina continued onto the next feature.
As she did so a woman with long pink hair in a black leather jacket, long red skirt and black heels made her way over and sat down near Ina. The two paid attention to their respective activities, one was drawing, the other was writing lyrics.
However, Ina couldn't help but continue to glance upward. A feeling of familiarity continued to nag at Ina until the artist clear her throat slightly, "Um.. ha… have we met before?"
The woman gazed at Ina for a moment before frowning and shaking her head, "I… don't think so…"
"Oh…" Ina's shoulder dropped slightly, "Well, anyway I like your hair!"
"Thanks!" The woman smiled, "What are you drawing?"
"Oh, just the playground," Ina shrugged, "I needed to clear my head."
"You drew that!" Her eyes went wide, "That's the most realistic sketch I've ever seen!"
"W-what are you working on!" A blushing Ina asked, "O-oh, my name is Ninomae Ina'nis by the way."
"Mori Calliope!" The woman greeted with a large smile, "I've been working on lyrics for a rap song that I've been wanting to make for a while now."
"That's amazing!" Ina smiled.
The two continued to compare their respective passions until the sun was on the horizon and the sky had turned orange. After which they wished each other luck and went their separate ways. By the time Ina arrived back home, her head was flooded with new inspiration.
And before she was asleep for the night a new file was on her tablet's hard drive. One of a scythe swinging Reaper with long pink hair and a passion for rapping.
A/N: Thanks for reading my first chapter of A City of Dreams, the chapters will be short thanks to a larger project I'm currently working on but I hope that you can enjoy them nonetheless!
