Just a random thing that crossed my mind. My Shepard in this story is called Jason Isaac Shepard. Colonist/Sole Survivor, Paragon and a Vanguard, but unlike most vanguards, my Shepard doesn't use shotguns, he uses assault rifles, pistols, and sniper rifles (Remember the sniper rifle thing, it will make sense later.)

Sorry for any grammatical error, English is not my main language.

The Museum of Nos Astra was hosting a high-class party to celebrate the reception of several and valuable Prothean pieces. Being a Prothean specialist, and a good friend of one of the museum's main curators, Liara T'Soni was invited to the party.

The place was full. Several people from Illium's Highest Society were gathered here, from all races. Liara was just walking through the party. She was wearing a white formal dress, very pretty by the way, while it was drinking a glass of wine.

She needed to be in a place like this, at least for a while. She needed to forget about all the stress she went through during her hunt for the Shadow Broker. And most of all... she needed to forget about Shepard.

Even being several months since they last saw each other, not a day went by without Liara not thinking about him. She still remembers the total shock that she felt from seeing him come into her office. He still was the same Jason Isaac Shepard, her Shepard. The way those bright blue eyes transmitted love to her and said how much he still loved her... it was perfect. But she screwed everything.

His death changed her. Turned her into something that she hated. From a sweet and gentle Asari scientist, she became a cruel and ruthless information broker, and that pushed Shepard away.

She still remembers the last time she looked into his eyes before he left. Shepard tried everything to make her speak to him as before, but the cold and emotionless way that Liara dismissed him pushed Shepard away. She remembers very well looking directly into his bright blue eyes, and seeing disappointment, but manly... fear. Shepard was afraid of her, and that almost made Liara cry.

Liara just wanted to give up from everything. Give up her entire career as an information broker and just go with Shepard on his mission. Hug and kiss Shepard again. Get lost in the blue of his eyes. Feel again the wonderful sensations that only he could provide... but for some reason that Liara didn't know... she did nothing.

Suddenly, Liara's Omni-Tool started to beep, indicating that someone was calling her.

"Probably more work. I really can't get at least one night off." Liara thought as she sighed irritably.

Liara then went outside the museum, to a more private place where she would not be interrupted. She opened her Omni-Tool to see who was calling her, and almost had a heart attack when she saw the name of the person she most wanted to forget, but at the same time, most wanted back in her life.

Jason Isaac Shepard.

Liara didn't thinked twice and accepted the call.

"Sh ... Shepard?" Liara asked, stuttering without believing.

"Liara, Hey. I'm glad you answered my call." Shepard said. "Am I interrupting something?"

"N ... No. I'm just surprised by this sudden call, that's all." Liara said.

"Sorry about that, I just wanted to talk to you."

"About what?" Liara asked.

"Nothing too important. I'm just here on the Normandy, bored, without much things to do. The ship is strangely calm, so I decided to call you." Shepard said.

"Wait... you call me just because you are bored?"

"Well... yes and no." Shepard said. "I'm using this rare moment of free time to call you because..."

"Because what, Jason?" Liara asked.

Shepard sighed as he added, "Liara ... I want to talk about us."

That was it. These were the words that Liara least wanted to hear, but at the same time most wanted to hear. She was speechless, her legs were almost shaky, and she just didn't know how to react.

"Listen, Liara... I don't need all the details. I know these two years have been very difficult for you and there are things you wouldn't want to remember." Shepard said, with a calm voice, almost like a whisper. "I just want to know why. Why did you treat me like that in Nos Astra, months ago when we first met."

"Shepard... Jason, I..." Liara tried to say something, the words still found it difficult to get out of her mouth. With a certain effort, Liara sighed, and finally managed to speak:

"Jason... When Normandy was destroyed and you died... I felt like I was in an eternal nightmare. A nightmare from which, no matter how much I tried, I couldn't wake up." Liara said with a sad voice. She couldn't take it and started to cry a little.

"Liara..." Shepard was clearly upset with himself. He didn't want to make Liara cry. Gods, that was the last thing Shepard wanted to do in his entire life.

"I'm so sorry that I hurt you, Jason." Liara said as she cried. "But when I finally saw you alive for the first time in two years, I felt like I was awake from my nightmare and I just didn't know how to react. I just didn't know how..."

"It's okay, Liara. I understand you. If I were in your shoes, maybe I would have done the same thing." Shepard reassured her. Liara then calmed down with her words a little and slowly stopped crying.

"Thanks, Jason. Liara said gently. "And I want you to know that... even though it's been over two years, I still love you, Jason Isaac Shepard." Liara said, with all her heart. "I love you more than anything in this galaxy."

"Liara..." Shepard didn't know what to say. He was hoping to talk to Liara and at least calm the things down between them. He didn't expect this to happen so quickly. He didn't expect to hear Liara say she still loved him. "I... I still love you too. You were the best thing that has ever happened in my life."

Hearing those words from Shepard made Liara almost cry again, but this time, because of joy. That was exactly what she had wanted to hear for so long.

"Oh, Jason... You have no idea how much it means to me to hear you say those words." Liara said with a smile on her face.

"And it means a lot more to me to hear you accept them." Shepard said happier than ever.

Liara laughed a little at Shepard's words. After all this time, she forgot how sweet he could be.

"What I wouldn't give to be on your side on the Normandy right now."

Shepard gave a little laugh. "Who said I'm on the Normandy?"

Now Liara was confused. "Wait, aren't you on the Normandy?"

"Nope."

"So where are you?" Liara asked.

"Not in a dangerous place, don't worry." Shepard said. "Hey, can I tell you something?"

"Of course." Liara agreed.

"You are perfect in this white dress." Shepard said with a sweet voice, so he ended the call.

Liara was even more confused now. How did Shepard know she was wearing a white dress? At that time Liara looked at her dress and saw a laser sight being pointed at her chest. Liara didn't even thinked twice. With pure instinct, she quickly moved to a cover where she could be protected and activated a biotic barrier around herself for protection.

Liara stared at the laser sight, which was pointing at a wall and was not moving, until the sight simply disappeared.

Liara stayed for some time behind her cover, still not understanding anything that was happening. Suddenly, her Omni-Tool beeped again. Upon opening it, Liara saw that she had received a text message from... Shepard?

Without thinking twice, she opened the message.

"Your apartment. I'll be waiting. (I'm sorry if the laser sight of my sniper rifle scared you. Don't worry, I will… compensate you when you get to your apartment, if you know what I mean.) With love and always yours, Jason."

After reading the message, Liara just started laughing. She, too, had forgotten how playful Shepard was.

Liara didn't thinked twice. She left the party, went to her Skycar and immediately went to her apartment. She had some questions of why Shepard was on Illium right now, but that would have to wait. Shepard was giving her one more chance, and this time Liara wouldn't waste it.
