DECLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter nor its characters. It all belongs to J.K. Rowling.
Chapter 1
Back to square three
Green light came forward to his eyes and then all became black. No sound, no sight, as if floating in middle air and then a woman softly screaming. The screaming became louder as he felt a solid surface at his back. Terrified, terrified pleading screams. A softy wind covered the woman's scream and dim light came through his close eyelids. A thick white fog was swirling around him inside him-
"Harry! Harry! Are you all right?"
Someone was slapping his face.
"W—what?"
Harry opened his eyes; there was lanterns above him, and the floor was shaking. He was at the Hogwarts Express. After seven years of going back and forth from the muggle to the magic works, he would recognize it immediately. What was more confusing where the mane of red hair in front of his eyes. Ron's face was staring at him with worried eyes. He had round features and a youngish look he hadn't seen in years. He realized he was lying down on the floor. His body felt heavy, he could barely move his limps, and as he tilted his head to the other side, he saw a young Hermione knelt next to him with the same worry in her eyes.
Harry felt extremely sick; when he put up his hands to push his glasses back on, he felt cold sweat on his face.
Ron and Hermione helped him back to his sit.
"Are you ok?" Ron asked nervously.
Harry was speechless as he looked around the room. Remus and a young Neville were standing to a side.
"Moony?" he whispered surprised to see him here. He was supposed to be taking care of Tonks, but something stopped him from saying that out loud. But to late, Remus had heard him whispered his nickname. He immediately stood up straight and kept looking at him with a mask of indifference in his face. However, if you looked closely, there was an air of intrigue and suspicious in his eyes.
Hermione and Ron seemed to get even worrier at Harry's lack of response. Hermione put a hand on his shoulders as to call his attention.
"Yeah, I'm fine" said Harry, looking quietly to the seats in front of him. Just then he noticed a young Ginny sitting behind Neville. She looked pale and ready to faint, but with energy enough to lean on and stare at Harry. "What happened? What are you guys doing here?"
"I think you bump you hear pretty hard, mate. Ouch!" Ron screamed as Hermione slap him in the back of his head.
"Whu-at?" Aloud snap made them all jump. Professor Lupin was breaking an enormous slab of chocolate into pieces.
"Here," he said to Harry, handing him a particular large piece. "Eat it. It will help."
Harry took the chocolate but didn't eat it.
"What happened?" He asked Lupin this time.
"That was a dementor," said Lupin who was now giving chocolate to everyone else. "One of the dementors of Azkaban."
Everyone stared at him. Professor Lupin crumpled up the empty chocolate wrapper and put it in his pocket.
"Dementors?" everyone asked. "But there were no dementors around," said Harry at the same time Hermione asked, "What's a dementor?"
Remus gave him another suspicious looks as he repeated "Eat. It will help".
Then he excused himself to go speak to the driver, not before given another look at Harry while he closed the door.
"I don't get it… this shouldn't happen" said Harry as he started putting some pieces together on his head. But no, it couldn't be, could it? He must be wrong.
"Well - that thing - the dementor - stood there and looked around (I mean, I think it did, I couldn't see its face) - and you - you
"I thought you were having a fit or something," said Ron, who still looked scared. "You went sort of rigid and fell out of your seat and started twitching.
It was the exact same conversation, but no, it couldn't be.
"And Professor Lupin stepped over you, and walked toward the dementor, and pulled out his wand," said Hermione, "and he said, 'None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go.' But the dementor didn't move, so Lupin muttered something, and a silvery thing shot out of his wand at it, and it turned around and sort of glided away... "
"NO" said Harry out loud unable to believe what his ears heard.
"It was horrible," said Neville, in a higher voice than usual. "Did YOU feel how cold it got when it came in?"
"I felt weird," said Ron, shifting his shoulders uncomfortably. "Like I'd never be cheerful again..."
Ginny, who was huddled in her corner looking nearly pale as a ghost, gave a small sob; Hermione went over and put a comforting arm around her.
Harry wanted to ask more questions but decide it was better to stay quite and examine more his satiation before saying something he shouldn't.
Harry didn't understand. Last he remembered, he was at Hogsmeade, rays of spells going on every direction until a killing curse went straight to him. He barely saw it coming and didn't even know who spelled it. Ironic it would be that after so much it was the same ministry who killed him.
Everyone was in silence as Lupin came back. He paused as he entered, looked around and said with a small smile, "I haven't poisoned that chocolate, you know…"
Harry got back to his senses and immediately took a bite with a smile on his face as he felt warmth spread suddenly to the tip of his fingers and toes.
"Thank you, professor Lupin, I'm feeling much better" he said with an honest smile.
Lupin arched an eyebrow at the mention of his name, but Harry pointed at the suitcase explaining how he should have know it. Lupin let it go but still the suspicious didn't leave his eyes. There was no explanation by having call him Moony before.
"We'll be at Hogwarts in ten minutes," said professor Lupin.
On the remaining of the journey, no one spoke much which was perfect for Harry as it gives him time to think. If he was right, he has some how going back in time to the beginning of his third year. Meaning there was no war going, Professor Dumbledore would still be alive, and even Sirius. If Sirius was alive, he must be coming to Hogwarts to catch Pettigrew. Another problem which he also had to solve. If he caught Pettigrew, then Voldemort would never be resurrected, and all be alright. At least it should, but somehow, he had a feeling it would not be that simple. He didn't know what to do. It would need perfect planning, but he didn't feel he could do it alone.
He had been by himself the last few months and achieve nothing. Sadly, he couldn't even trust Hemione and Ron. Hermione would tell him to go directly to a teacher and Ron wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut and spill his secret. Plus, the Weasley's didn't have much power on the wizarding world, and much less a muggle born. Two 13 years old wouldn't know how to deal with all the information he should give them.
But maybe Hermione was not all wrong. There was one teacher he will trust with this. The only person he could count on. And if everything went right, there will be two with his godfather at their side.
AN: I hope you enjoy this first chapter. I already have an outline of the story, but many details undecided and have a lot to work on. Next chapter will be longer, this is only an introduction into the story. I do not know how often I can post, but luckily there is easter break this week (not sure why we have is the week after easter) and I have all this week free. I hope I can post chapter 2 and 3 this week or have most of it done. Depending on how long I will have each chapter. I hope you enjoy the story, please read and review and I share your opinion. Do you like it? How will 17 years old Harry deal with a 13 years teachers-suck-up Hermione and jealous-and-immature Ron? While they wont fight, I don't see that relationship remaining.
See you next time,
MASTERHARRYRIDDLE
