A blue haired vixen woman was leaving Interpol in the city of Paris, France. The vixen's name was Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox. She had been working at Interpol for a few years now. She dealt with cases that usually involved detective work or solving mysteries and whatnot. Carmelita usually kept to herself. She had little to no friends. It wasn't that she didn't like people. It was just that, working at Interpol all the time had consumed Carmelita to the point where her social life was almost non existent.
The vixen didn't really have a whole lot of people to talk to. When she was younger, Carmelita had many friends. But, when she dedicated her life to serve law enforcement and to work for Interpol as a policewoman, her friends were cut off. Carmelita really wished that she didn't work for Interpol so that way she could have a social life and have a family.
But, Carmelita Fox had dedicated her life to serve law enforcement and to make a better place. She was fearless. The vixen was a tough cop. So, here she was, about to go home and relax after a long days work at Interpol. When Carmelita wasn't chasing down criminals, she often went to art galleries or went to concerts. Carmelita loved books, art and music. One of her favorite musicians was Bruce Springsteen. She grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen's music on the southern tip of the state of Texas.
Carmelita walked to her police cruiser. She unlocked the driver's seat door. The vixen started up her car. She put in drive. She drove toward her apartment. All of sudden, Carmelita's police car suddenly stopped on a dime. It was envoloped in a ball of green energy. Carmelita tried to start her car, but then she felt the car lifting itself off of the ground.
The car was flying through the air at breakneck speed. Carmelita was scared. She didn't understand what was happening. The car flew in the night air for what seemed like eternity before it was suddenly teleported to a beach. Carmelita's anxiety was sky high. She had to be dreaming. There was no way that her police car flew through the air like Superman and ended up on a beach.
The vixen opened up her car door and walked up to the beach. Up ahead she could see a thing that looked like a spaceship. The spaceship looked like it was ripped straight out of the sci-fi television show Battlestar Galactica. She walked toward the spaceship. It looked damaged. It looked like as if it just recently crash landed. Carmelita peered inside the spaceship. The controls were damaged beyond repair.
"Carmelita Montoya Fox." a voice said weakly.
Carmelita turned around and saw somebody laying on the ground. The person was a purple skinned ailen who was wearing a strange emerald green costume. He had a green ring on one of his fingers. The ailen was bleeding. He was severely injured. His blood was purple. He was slowly dying.
"Are you Carmelita Montoya Fox?" the dying purple ailen asked the vixen.
"Who are you? What are you? And how do you know my name?" Carmelita asked the purple ailen. She raised her shock pistol just in case the ailen tried to do anything crazy.
"My name is Abin-Sur. I'm the protector of Sector 2814." the purple ailen said to the vixen.
Carmelita didn't know how to comprehend what the purple ailen just told her. Aliens didn't exist. They weren't real. This had to be a dream. He had to be either delusional or just plain insane. There was no way that this was real.
"Look, I don't know what you're trying to pull, Abin, but I'm taking you in." Carmelita said to Abin-Sur.
"I don't think you really want to do that." Abin-Sur said. "I'm dying."
"OK." Carmelita said as she lowered her electric shock gun. "First question, how do you know my name?"
"You have been chosen to succeed me as a Green Lantern." Abin-Sur said to Carmelita. "The ring chose you to become the protector of Sector 2814."
"Chosen? By who?" Carmelita asked the dying ailen.
"You were chosen by the guardians of the planet Oa." Abin-Sur said to the vixen policewoman. "You were chosen because you have a remarkable lack of fear."
The purple ailen held out a green ring and a green lantern. He set them on the sand beside him.
"I want you to take the ring and the lantern." Abin-Sur said to Carmelita. "The ring needs you."
"Are you serious?" Carmelita asked Abin-Sur. "Are you seriously trying to propose to me?"
"This is not a proposal, Carmelita." Abin-Sur said. "You have to take the ring and the lantern. Put the ring in the lantern. Say the oath."
"How did you crash land here?" the vixen asked Abin-Sur.
"I don't have time to explain." the purple ailen said to Carmelita. "Just take the ring and the lantern."
Abin-Sur took off his ring. His costume immediately vanished. He died. Carmelita didn't know what to do at the moment. She was just told by a dying purple alien from another world to take a ring and a lantern. Why did Abin-Sur ask Carmelita to take a ring and a lantern for? Usually when somebody gave a person a ring, it was meant that they wanted to marry the person. Carmelita had just met a dying purple alien that just seemingly proposed to her.
Carmelita bent down beside the dead ailen and took the ring and the lantern from him. She placed the ring on her ring finger of her right hand. She carried the lantern. The lantern was surprisingly lightweight. She turned around and saw a thug trying to hijack her police car. The vixen sprinted toward the thug. She still carried the lantern in her hand.
The thug was a male cheetah who wore a black long sleeved shirt with skinny jeans. He had green eyes. The vixen aimed her shock pistol at the cheetah.
"Get away from my car!" Carmelita yelled at the cheetah.
"Well, well, if it ain't Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox of Interpol." the cheetah says to Carmelita.
"Why are you attacking my police car?" Carmelita asked the cheetah.
"Because I feel like destroying your car, bitch!" the cheetah said to Carmelita.
The vixen was enraged. How dare this cheetah attack her police car? She lunged at the cheetah. She threw a few punches at him. All of a sudden, a green energy blast emenated from her body. The energy knocked the male cheetah back. Carmelita was shocked. She stood with her jaw hanging open. She looked down at her hand to find that the green ring that once belonged to Abin-Sur was on her finger. The cheetah got up and ran away from Carmelita. Carmelita ran to her car and started it. She took the green lantern with her. The vixen drove away from the beach. Little did she know, this moment would change her life forever.
