A small boy emerged from a small room, smaller than most rooms, but this was the small boy's haven. A cupboard under the stairs in the home of his aunt and uncle in number 4 privet drive little whinnging England. The small boy continued out of his room and into the chaos that surrounded his life. "Freak," a skinny woman yelled out, the small boy began to hurry his footsteps knowing that the skinny woman was calling for him. The small boy was unsure why his relatives felt the need to call him that, his name was Harry, or at least that is what the woman in his dreams calls him, and the nice lady at school. Harry continued to the kitchen his small body making it take longer than it would for a normal boy his age. Harry was quietly excited it was his cousin's birthday and his babysitter, Ms. Fibb was sick which meant that Harry got to go to the Zoo. The reptilians were his favorite he always felt a special connection with snakes.

The bacon sizzled and a bit of the oil spilled out and hit the small boy's hand and Harry stayed perfectly still not making a single movement, even though the oil was hot, it always made the big man mad when Harry made a mistake.

Harry was sent back to his cupboard after he cooked breakfast knowing he was not allowed to have any and set out to do the morning chores around the house. By the time that Harry cleaned the bathroom and brushed his teeth, the big man came barreling in and ripped Harry away from what he was scrubbing down and turned beet red as he yelled in the small boys' face telling him that if he messed up Dudley's birthday he would get, "the beating of a lifetime. "Words the young boy had heard a number of times. Harry was unable to make a sound not that he talked anyways, with quick nodding he moved attempted to move out of his uncle's grip. Vernon pulled harry back and a sticking pop filled the air as the small's boys' arm was pulled out of his socket.

Vernon finally let the small boy go after he stricken the boy a few times, perfectly hidden so no one would notice, not that anyone knew of young Harry's existence. Harry hurried towards the staircase, and into his small room, the young boy let out a slight hiss as he popped his arm back into place, and placed some burn ointment, that he stole from the store on his arm. Harry was quite smart, for his age but he hid it well, always reading whatever he could find as he was not allowed to be around the family, other than to cook and clean for them.

Harry was finished and hurried into the kitchen to quickly put away all the dishes ignoring the rumbling in his stomach, as he knew that if he snook food it would just have gotten him in more trouble than necessary. "Freak come here now." Harry hurried towards the sound of his aunt calling his name, and with that they were off and into the car, headed to the Zoo.

Harry silently trailed behind the family, quite as they admired the animals. Harry just stared unbreaking as he always did. Until harry walked towards the reptile area, Harry watched as the fat cow, Dudley smushed his fat fingers on the glass, "I would not do that, it is dangerous." Dudley ignored him in favor of banging on the glass, harry looked down and felt sorry for the poor creature, trapped, stuck, and unknowing of what was beyond. It was as if magic was at play when the glass broke, and the snake hissed out a thank you, and slithered away. Harry stood there in shock, as everyone around him dissolved into chaos.

Harry followed behind his family nervously, as he had never seen his uncle more nervous. Dudley and Petunia had been sent out of the house to go get Dudley's extra present as he was short one this year.

Harry did not move or breathe as he felt the door close. "What did you do boy?" nothing the small boy murmured. "I am going to ask again and this time I expect an answer. "What did you do?" "Nothing." The small boy said loud enough for his uncle to hear. "Oh, then I suppose that I shall do nothing either." Harry let out a small sigh of relief until, he felt his uncle punch him across, his face.

The force of the punch was enough to send the small boy falling back as he hit his back on the floor. His uncle grabbed the small boy by his hair and repeatedly punched the boy. In a fit of rage, he dragged the young boy to the kitchen, and yelled out, face bright red in anger, "if you don't want to use your words, then you won't have them."

Vernon used a knife and brought it to the young boy's throat, and swiped it roughly, as for him it did not matter if the boy was alive or not. A sadistic chuckle was heard through out the air, as Vernon, swiped at the boy's eye with the knife. Harry was in excruciating pain, it felt as though his body was on fire, he had never experienced such an intense pain in his life. Harry's eyes rolled into the back of his head as the last thing he ever saw with his left eye was his uncle holding a knife that was covered in his blood.

Harry woke up days later, covered in his own blood, he had not moved or awoken, there was a glass of water that was next to him, not caring if there was anything in it, as his family was known to spit in whatever they gave him. Harry pushed himself up, and wondered why his throat hurt, more than normal after his beatings. The young boy did not question why he could not see out of his eye, he was used to it being swollen shut after his uncle's beatings.

Harry limped outside of the room, and noticed that it was daytime, but it seemed that no one was home. Harry used this to his advantage and cleaned his sheets and took a shower taking his time to scrub away the blood, that had dried upon his body. Harry dried off and put on his oversized clothes and brushed his teeth for the first time looking at himself in his face. Harry let out a strangled gasp, as he saw the gash along his throat, and the one over his eye, that looked like it was beginning to get infected as it had not been taken care of.

The small boy ran out of the room and to his room and grabbed his med kit, as he treated his injuries, he found that there was a note tapped to the edge of his door. Pack your things, you are leaving the first of September. You are going to a school that your parents, paid for. Harry just shrugged and was sat on his bed, eating the small amount of bread that was left on the counter, next to the glass of water.

The sound of rapid knocks echoed throughout the room. Harry stood up and walked towards the door. A man that was dressed in all black just looked down at the small boy, and asked, "why are you opening the door child, where are your parents, I am looking for…" The man sighed and rolled his eye and physically looked as if it pained him, "harry potter." Harry just stared at the man and tried to speak, "that's me." But it just came out as a strangled cough as the poor boy almost opened the cut on his throat with, he forces, he felt something warm flow down the back of his throat, the man just rolled his eyes at the young child and pushed him, so he could enter the house.

It was at that moment that, petunia had returned from the store and just stared as there was a man that reminded her eerily of Lilly and their stolen childhood, and her stolen life. "Tunia, long time no see, I am here to pick up the potter brat."

Petunia let out a laugh, and said, "take the freak." "FREAK. Get your things you're leaving." Harry had finally managed to get off the floor, and just stood at the door.

Severus, the newly identified man, just stood and walked out of the house, with a small goodbye to Petunia. "I am professor snape, potions professor." Harry just nodded otherwise ignoring the man, as he did most adults.

Harry's world was about to change, and little did he know it, as he followed, the man with large black cape into the unknown.
